For the most part I only ever think of Andrew Neil as being meanist tootenist TV journo , In an interview with Adam boulton , he too seemed very thoughtful on dead war reporter , citing she wanted the bad people to face justice , then he added an almost throwaway line “we musnt lose that sort of journalism” which reminded me of so many things of journalism when i was a young lad . There was freedom of the press , in that journailsts were on less of tight reign on certain subjects , they earned there trust with the audience and not from spin opps .
I would think before labour or libs start attacking Mr Lansley on NHS competetion , lab in particular should consider what there own , internal market polices have done , i can name a number of sugeries where the best aptitude has not been recognised , where certain nursing functions have not spread into evening surgeries , and quell suprise some pharmacologists pick and choose .
professional competetion has never really done much , which i suppose is where the argument is , but equally some things have never been responsible either in long term care . What you always hope competition will do is provide important information , mostly on treatments , but ultimately attitude resides in there as well . it may be that some competative groupings are just too small to make any difference , but I do not doubt that some new ways of working and organising will save money and improve lives , but again I would not forget that labour have been running a very conflicted internal market for some time .
