          • David Laws Lib Dem fiddler says:

This correlates with the previous article Guido. Alexander and Osborne betting with our money in the IMF. No risk, said Cameron. Is he slow on the uptake or does is he only capable of regurgitating what an Oxbridge half-wit tells him?? IMF loans in conjunction with interest rate manipulations and currency devalues work, bit difficult to do with Euro countries???????????????

I would love to know just what sort of dirt Rich and Mark have got on Guido to keep getting paid (presumably) for these dire Monday morning efforts. It must be something major. Pics of him hanging out of the back of a sheep, maybe, or some little irregularity from his trading days? We may never know.

Why not put £2 Trillion on red, that should just about balance the books if it comes in, put the £40 Billion on green as a saver.

Why should I pay off your debts you old fuckers says:

Senile old tosser. Don’t fucking tell me that I should be grateful for your borrowing in my name. You paid yourselves far too much, topped it off with a final salary pension, then billed me for it.

Grateful, you want stringing up with the rest of the self serving-bastards.

The IMF has been using UK money for economic bailouts for decades, with nary a complaint from anyone.

Suddenly they do it for Europe, and it’s a major problem.

No problem Handy – You should be OK for this week and maybe next when Chris’s problems return – but keep your head down in early December when the Katya case comes to a conclusion. It might be best for you to do whatever you can to make peace with your colleagues in Portsmouth.

    Grumpy Old Man says:

The Euro is as good as dead. The run on Italian debt over the next week followed by the market closely examining Spanish and Frence debt should finish it off. All depends on how much longer the deluded, witless apparatchiks in the EUSSR bunker are prepared to make currency speculators and bond dealers very rich indeed.

I only heard it this morning (thanks Today programme) Germany never paid Greece any WW2 reparations. Why not Merkozi?

    • 43
      nell says:

I heard that when they left Greece in ruins after the war they looted the country first and took £billions back to Germany.

And the other thing is how has Germany got so rich in the EU – they have exported their high priced goods to the greeks and italians etc and made a mint.

    genghiz the kahn says:

Ed Miliband cannot even get his brand recognised by friendly editorial staff.

“It is always refreshing when party leaders seem to really listen to voices coming from outside their own camp. That is why David Miliband should be commended for the warm words he has given in today’s interview with this newspaper concerning the protest outside St Paul’s.

“The interesting thing about St Paul’s,” the Labour leader says, “is that it reflects the feelings of millions of people that the economy and the country are not working for them.”

This is correct, as well as a reminder that the subject of the protest never was the cathedral itself – though regrettably this became the main story – but the growing chasm in income between a privileged handful and what Mr Miliband terms the “squeezed middle”.

The Labour leader is right to say that inequality in society “is centre stage” in a way that it has not been for decades.”

The home office is always vulnerable to scandals like this – just look at how many home secretaries there were in the last Labour government. The critical thing for May’s survival is whether she was involved in the decision – as suggested in the Telegraph report.

Ladbrokes have May at 16/1 for next cabinet exit. Overnight PaddyPower were offering 25/1 though for very small stakes. (They allowed me just 21 pence). It might be worth a punt

Tom Harris bemoans the public’s attitude to politicians…

“Mr Oborne echoes the lazy, anti-politics whine we hear so often these days, all based on the absurd notion that politicians were once loved and only fell out of public favour during the expenses scandal. He should take a walk to the Strangers’ Bar. But not to sup with the patrons he seems to despise so much, dearie me, no; he should instead look at the paintings on the corridor outside the bar, which depict the devastating fire which consumed most of the Palace in 1834. And he should reflect on the fact that on that dramatic night, as the Commons went up in flames, a crowd gathered on the South Bank to clap and cheer.”
