Congratulations to Toby Young

Toby Young blogs this afternoon:

“I’m writing this from the headmaster’s office at the West London Free School which was officially opened this morning by the Mayor of London. Miraculously, the whole ceremony went off without a hitch – even our hastily-cobbled together curtain-pulling mechanism worked. Boris gave a brilliant speech, praising our school as one of the first taxpayer-funded schools to be set up by a group of parents and teachers and expressing the hope that other parents and teachers will follow in our footsteps. He paid particular tribute to the Secretary of State for Education and said he’d added a new inflection to the verb “to give”: We give, they gave, he gove. “He gove us these fantastic free schools,” he said.

Congratulations are in order, but not everyone thought Toby would get to this point. Guido thinks militant free-school opponent Fiona Miller, aka Mrs Bad Al, owes Young an apology for her “you’ll never do it” attacks…

Bowden, why do you contaminate almost every post with your pointless comments. Whilst I don’t comment very ofte, I do enjoy reading the comments. There are a couple of morons that continually post silly comments but you are a real irritation, and I suspect that you reduce the amount of advertising that the site might otherwise generate. Please don’t respond with one of your pathetic lines about a refund. Why don’t you just write your own blog.

If you are so prolific with your views, why don’t you write your own blog? I suspect you know that virtually nobody would read it, and you just prefer to be a parasite on this blog. I don’t suppose it would be so bad if you just posted every now and again, but the desparation to make the first comment means that you type before you put your brian into gear. Try reading back at the comments you have made over the last two weeks, especially on the Friday when a couple of Anon readers tore your a new arsehole. You do come across as a very sad tosser. Why do you have to make the first comment. It is a pretty pathetic existence for you to sit in your security booth all day anxiously refreshing your screen and monitoring twitter to see what this site tells you to think about next.

The faith-based schools don’t tolerate nonsense from pupils either. And as far as I know they don’t buy into this global warming bollocks and encourage the family as a unit. The Muslim faith also has a an inherent distrust of banks, as well, and not without good reason.

“Let the market decide.” Absolutely – but these schools are funded by the taxpayer. We should be working out how to make parents pay for ALL education. Then we’d have a true market, where pinko teachers wouldn’t stand a chance of surviving. And they wouldn’t get lefty benefits like sick pay and holiday pay. Come to think of it, that would work for the whole of the public sector. Any political party out there prepared to put that forward at their conference?

Ms Benn and her equally spiteful puppet master Ms Millar like all socialists just cannot stand that the aspirational middle classes might benefit from this. The same middle classes who get whacked with all the tax rises, get whacked by inflation and have to put up with crumbling public services swamped by immigrants and the welfare class.

Millar effectively wants the Middle class to be dumbed DOWN to bring the welfare class up slightly by forcing them into bad schools, as opposed to offering middle class and working class kids the opportunity up to get an elite education.

However this attitude only applies to the little people. Her and her supporters kids go to great almost private, private, religious or selective schools. Just like Dianne Abbott -one rule for us, one for the rest.

Only problem is, when they left office borrowing was falling and the country was growing faster. We cannot predict how thing would have been if Labour is still in office but things are worse now.

If due to growth tax receipts grow and less people are paid dole we might be in a better situation as country doesn’t need to borrow as much as it has to. Under Osborne growth is weak so tax receipts are less and more people are on dole so country is borrowing more.

Even Osborn’s so called plan is not working as rather than cutting deficit he is increasing it. You are trying to compare Osborne’s pan with Labour; you have to look at what is happening with the economy. Its almost like Gadd*fi saying he is winning the war. Reality is different to what Osborne says.

“…when they left office borrowing was falling….” Suggest you check that – it’s bollocks.

“…we cannot predict how things would have been if Labour was still in office…” We can. They said they would halve the deficit over four years (though never explained how). Current government aim to eliminate structural deficit (i.e. most of it) in the life of this Parliament.

How do you propose to produce this magic growth that eludes the rest of the world, without spending more?

Osborne is cutting the deficit. Not as fast as he (or the rest of us) would like, but he is cutting.

How about some serious tax cuts? That just might encourage a bit of growth. The short-term cost of that would almost certainly be an increase in borrowing to cover the drop in tax receipts before the growth dividend came through. Not easy.

Most of what you say is not happening in the real economy. Osborne and people who believe them live in LaLa land.

The answer to “How do you propose to produce this magic growth that eludes the rest of the world, without spending more?”

            1) Cut cooperation tax to manufacturer, pay this using import tax.
            2) Cut immigration and stop dole for people who can work but doesn’t after one year or even two years.
            3) Start reversing globalization
            4) Subsidies export by cutting value of pound.
            5) Cut subsidies to rail, let them compete with road.
            6) Stop exporting oil and gas, if we need buy it from others

These are few, it can be done. You seems to believe that when I say Osborne is wrong I am saying Balls is right. What I am saying is we can only see the effects of the once in government, we simply don’t know the effects of Labour’s policy as they are not in government.

I don’t care about left or right I care about delivering results. Osborne is not delivering.

These Free Schools are a scandal, if they achieve their objective by educating our children, it will mean that when they come to vote, they will be able to use objective reasoning. That means I will be out of a job for one. It will also mean many of my incompetent cronies in Local Government, involved in education, will also lose their jobs. As I have already said, it is a scandal. I will blog about it on my new £600 iPad that I have just purchased on my MP’s expenses that you taxpayer’s have kindly bought for me – suckers.

These schools will revolutionise our education system. It’s about time schools were run for profit and students are taught the value and superiority of the free market. Profit is the only guarantee of excellence across the world and I am glad our government knows this and is promoting this idea across the public sector. Hopefully soon we can get the profit motive into the health system as well so all those lazy doctors and nurses actually have to work for once!

Put simply, if there is a budget of £60 million and you divide it equally amongst every single person living in the UK (60 million people) you would be able to give them £1 million each.

That’s how Balls gets away with it. Balls could tell these economic and mathematical simpletons, pre-disposed as they are, to believe any old shit spouted by Labour, quite literally anything and get away with it.

        So he does.

Education, education and education? That’s the last thing Labour wants. Folk who can do basic sums. Folks who can see clean through mathematical chicanery? That would have those fuckers sh*i*t*t*ing their pants.

Plus the socialist dominated public sector will hate the thought that our kids are not indoctrinated in the latest right-on version of history or ‘citizenship’ or whatever fuckwittery is the latest fad to emerge from teacher training college.

I had a quick look at how he’s going to improve schools. The “right sort of phonics”, I wouldnt trust anyone talking about that unless I knew they’d tried more than one sort, with more than a few kids.

Big bursaries for people with 1sts. Useless. Teaching is a performance art. Being good with the subject is pretty useful, but its not what really drives the difference between a good and bad teacher.

Buy an AK47 and a 20ft sailing craft, take your cash and no one will ever use your money for things you don’t need again.

I dont like kids but pay for them as i realise that having an educated mass is good. What i dont want is MY taxes to pay for a small group of fwits kids to get a priority! Why should i pay for pushy tory fwits to get their kids private education on my taxes. Also i hate the idea that some fwit from the army or the other dumb skulls from the services ( who should be shit fodder in Irag etc) teaching kids when perfectly good teachers are being thrown on the scrap heap! Wasting my time hear as appears that you all like spouting off on line but in reality you are all pussies… Reall face to face debate is tooo frightening…

Shouldn’t you have said their’s no such thing as free schools, somebody has to pay, otherwise your just playing the same sad game as the Liebour or Libshite MP’s ,their kids go to private schools while the mob go to the living lavatory schools fostered by Liebour to keep people uneducated and malleable and tribal.

‘Free’ in the sense of ‘free from local authority or state control of content.’

NO wonder Labour hate it. Unable to poison the minds of children by dictat. Unable to determine what gets taught and what doesn’t get taught. Unable to direct the ‘emphasis’. Blair knew what he meant by ‘education, education and education’ he meant ‘indoctrination, indoctrination and indoctrination’. Well, that and hiding an additional one million 18 – 21 year olds at ‘university’ instead of highly visible, on-the-dole, which is where the majority have found themselves since the state sector hired one million lucky garduates back in 2001/2.

And how will they know how to organise pro labour rallies and how to fund the Labour party if a state appointed {labour} representative isn’t allocated to them?

what a surprise – fiona and alicampbell were against the free schools,

well of course they were. Typical labour, anything that might excel has to be stopped. Dumb down, don’t encourage kids to reach for new heights.

as for fiona’s belief that ‘you’ll never do it’ that’s an extension of labour’s ‘it can’t be done’ attitude that still permeates their very dna

You are somewhat in need of a free school yourself perhaps? The lack of capital letters etc is so tiresome and shows a poor education.

Maybe labour would support the idea if billions of pounds had been borrowed to fund the schools, and more non entity public sector jobs created to assist in their running. This of course with union reps funded as well, and maybe an advisory quango or two.

This conversation with young nell about her history lesson this week shows the true extent of labour’s destruction of our education system.

Youngnell: we’re learning about the industrial revolution

nannell: good. spinning jenny, flying shuttle, isambard kingdom brunel yes?

    youngnell : er no. power

nannell : oh george stephenson, engines and steam yes?

youngnell : er no power and the way rich people tread down poor people

nannell: what about the amazing inventions people made and how steam changed lives?

youngnell: mrB says all of that made slaves of the working classes.

An example of state liebour education.
My grandson Jack, who attends one of liebours brainwashing schools is quite bright.
Jack is now 11 years old and has just gone up into the senior school.
Two years ago I asked him what times tables they were up to,answer 6.
So I got agreement with his dad that I could spend a certain amount of time with him each week teach him in a different way.
I approached this from the viewpoint of,arithmetic, english, basic geometry and simple physics/chemistry.
To initially test him out I said to him, have you heard of the 13 times table,of which he had not.
I taught him that table in one and a half weeks flat,in that I used to ring him up each day and ask him what he remembered,he recites it off now without even thinking.
A bit of background to myself, apprentice engineer, technical college to HND,endorsements after this to AMI/Mech E,two years later Open University on environmental technology, first year credit cert, second year abandoned it as being crap run by left wing tossers, should have known better.
Anyway back to Jack,a mind like a sponge as are many other individuals, but a sponge needs water if it is to survive.
Alas the water is currently not there with the current standard of liebour promoted teaching.
I really do hope that this discredited level of education is ended,it reminds me of the mushroom saying, keep em in the dark and feed em shit.

Free Schools +Liberal education = Free thinkers. Bring it on. It is exactly what this country needs. Intelligent, responsible, free thinkers is the future. The Socialist experimental education system that produces sheeple who have no idea in which direction they are heading and dependent on a Labour government to control every aspect of their pitiful, pointless lives will soon be over. This failed experiment will no doubt be quietly filed away along with Labour’s other failed attempts at complete mind control of the gullible masses. Well done Gove, Young and others.

Congratulations indeed. Mumsnet types like Millar who drone on about sending children to the sinkhole down the road is just so much hot air. Don’t be fooled by it.

I know her bullying type well. She represents Guardian-reading middle class feminist lefties nowhere near well off enough to afford the very best and too cheap to scrape enough for private education at the lower end, so they invent a kind of snobbery, pretending to ‘dig’ bad manners, patois, greenie brainwashing, lack of reading ability and the dumbing down of excellence.

They are those uptight types that grew up learning to hate men and never got over the fact that having a family involves making hard either/or choices. Hence the resentment towards free schools. As Millar is finding out, such bitterness gets you nowhere. It must be hard for the Ms Millars of this world – longing to be superior but having to face up to the fact that they are just as ordinary as everyone else.
