Les Lawrence, who is in charge of kids and yoof for Birmingham Council, has said those trashing his city centre, stealing anything that wasn’t nailed down and generally causing mayhem, should be spared punishment. It seems he got the hug a hoodie memo about five years too late. Instead of locking up rioters, Lawrence wants the police to take away their X-Boxes and TVs. Presumably their old ones as well as the ones that they stole yesterday?
Coincidently the Tory councillor’s partner is the delectable Chris Keates, General Secretary of the NASUWT union…

4. Alternatively, Community Service in Afghanistan, in fluorescent boiler suits.
5. Confiscation orders of parents’ goods and chattels and the withdrawal of benefits to make them take any job to eat. Or a version of community service in exchange for half benefits eg cleaning the London sewers from end to end with a toothbrush.
6. Bring back public floggings for EVERY convicted rioter before being sent on to the North Pole or Afghanistan.
7. Restore corporal punishment in schools, as well as Grammar Schools, so the bright sparks can get out of the ghettoes through decent education.
8. Get out of the EU with immediate effect, so no Human Rights Legislation to be enslaved to. Limit communication to trade only, restore our fishing borders and patrol them properly and all ports with money saved from contributions. Make the UK as self supporting as possible for food.
9. Limit Legal aid to victims only. All rioters to pay for any Brief from extra hours worked in the sewers by Mum and Dad.
10. Get the ruddy water cannons going, and have a strict curfew for 6 months of anyone under 35 after 8 pm. Any transgression is 2 yrs in sewer cleaning, 7 days a week.
11. Bring back National Service.
