De Ja Huhne

Last week Huhne said to Laura Kuenssberg that the allegations against him “were incorrect”, had been “made before and shown to be untrue”, and that’s all he would like to say on the matter. Yesterday, he was cornered by Channel4 News, and despite being presented with new evidence, he gave the identical statement:

The police are going to want a little bit more detail than that Chris. And Guido doesn’t recommend you laugh in that interview…

We want out of the EU.
        We want immigration stopped.
We want to be in charge of our defence.
We want criminals locked up- including MPs (about 300 as it should have been).
We want root and branch change at corrupt Westminster.
We want proper regulation for our banking.

Time for Mervyn King to go he is useless- he has not achieved the 2% inflation target for over four years. This is incompetence by anyones standards. What did he do to protect us from the banking crisis?? He did protect the pensions for the BoE staff though- insider trading??

        Exactly.

It is a simple and elegant solution to the economic problem. The politicians have no reason to NOT do this.

So we shall see who the politicians are working for by how they react to this idea.

Do they work for the good of the people? Or for the good of the banks?

Make the elites fear the people says:

Saddly that is looking true with every passing day.

The western world’s political class/elites seem to be firmly in the pockets of financial/business interests, interests that are diametrically opposed to the nation state, democracy, identity and individuality.

    • 53
      Anonymous says:

Sounds like nonsense. The debt is not owed by country A to country B, it is owed by financial institutions in country A to financial institutions in country B. It may sound superficially attractive for a country to think “we could reduce our debt by 50%”, but what it means is that financial institutions elsewhere take a 50% haircut on assets. A good way for the EU countries mentioned to destroy their financial sectors.

      • 65
        misterned says:

When the EU can decide to unlawfully break the central conditions of the convergence criteria for the Euro and break the rules as agreed and set in stone in the Maastricht treaty in order to bail out countries in a wholly illegal way, then nothing is off the table.

The alternative, of course, is to wait for Greece to default and watch the whole shebang unwind and have the EU’s economy collapse anyway. Or it could be to facilitate more and more insane bail-outs with printed money and watch the EU’s economies collapse anyway.

Of course, the governments of each nation state could take over these debts and then issue instructions to the lending organisations (be it banks or finance houses or whatever) to write off these debts, even going to the extent of passing bills in their prospective parliaments to do so and using the savings gained to balance losses by these institutions.

Whatever way you look at it, these increasing debts are strangling the EU’s economy and if nothing is done, they will cause a massive collapse that will make the 2008 crash look like a small crap shoot by comparison.

Huhne is truly the scandal of the month. But let’s not forget last month, a royal month for burying news if ever there was one, and the massive story that never took off.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/7587803/Senior-civil-servants-claimed-record-1bn-on-taxpayer-funded-credit-cards.html

“Senior civil servants claim record £1bn on taxpayer funded credit cards”

“spending by 141,000 senior civil servants and quangos bosses on their “Government Procurement Cards” was four times as high as in 2002″

“Included in his bills was more than £17,000 on hotel bills” (that’s £326 a week on hotels, for the “Environment Agency” exec. Keeping his carbon travel emissions down I see.)

But the cuts are all puppy-stomping works of the devil right?

O/T This EU debt write-off reminds me of the habit of cross-firing cheques that I used to uncover in the bank many years ago. Sometimes, companies kept afloat solely because they were writing each other large cheques that meant their only liquidity was provided by the clearing system. Without that they would fold.

(I’m sure the point has been made before, but if Huhne’s missus agreed dishonestly to claim to have been driving to take a punishment that should otherwise have been meted out to him, the pair of them are looking at a spell in stir for each doing an act tending and intended to pervert the course of justice. Bet the kids will be well chuffed as Social Services ride in to pick up the slack.)
