Saturday Seven Up

7upThe budget and Libya dominated the week’s newsflow. Ken Clarke almost upstaged George Osborne just by going to sleep – or did he? Guido was pleased to see that an idea pushed on this blog two years ago – to give MPs charge cards for expenses – has finally been accepted by IPSA. Riddle of the week – was why did Ed Balls deposit £7,000 in NatWest in Victoria? Second question: Is Gaddafi a More Savvy Economist than Ed Balls?

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones George used to know,
Where the treetops glisten. And children listen.
To hear George blame it on the snow.

You have clearly failed to understand that the BBC has a public duty to expose the evils of this TORY led Government and the draconian programme of cuts being imposed on the poor, vulnerable and poorly paid public sector workers of this country. They are squandering the “golden legacy” bequeathed to them by Mr Brown who is acknowledged to be an economic genius and world statesman who single-handedly in 2008 saved the World and gave clear and strong leadership to other World leaders to act……………….

The only hope of salvation is the election of a Labour Government and the defeat of these evil Tory Millionaires and their rich banker friends !!!!

Coalition Government’s savings in public spending to reduce country’s living standards back to 2008 levels as savings made to to public spending of 3% ….Robert Peston says …”These savings are sensible and targetted, protecting the poorer and more vulnerable in society as far as is possible and need to be made if the country is to avoid an economic crisis. If in power Labour would have course have to make the same level of savings to public spending and possibly even greater savings to restore market confidence.Howeve it’s worth pointing out that the private sector have already made savings in excess of 20% during the past 3 years.Unfortunately the Labour Party still does not appear to have grasped the reality of the situation or come up with a credible alternative plan as far as I can discover “

The fact is whether we like it or not the Arab Region is undergoing a great sea-change(whether its the so-called “Arab Spring” is debateable)the results of which will cause our country great problems as it will to the rest of Europe and the USA,The fact is that it’s far from certain that any resultant governments that replace the existing ones will be any better or friendlier to the West or indeed whether or not we are seeing the birth of the Arab dream of centuries…”The Caliphate “….the region as a whole is strategically important to the West straddling as it does the sea routes from the far east and controlling large amounts of oil both crucial to the west’s survival……for better or worse. Our future security is tied in to the region much more than to the “old” Commonwealth or even Europe….there is a powder-keg on the southern borders of Europe and a few sparks are all that is needed to ignite a conflagration that will be hard to put out once ignited

Watched an hour long special about Libya on France 24 (english). Totally different to the BBC’s coverage and a lot more factual as they concentrated on Pro Gaddafi and anti Gaddafi Civillians. The rebels are totally disorganised and their reports from the front line are often at complete odds to the truth, the biggest danger or the reporters came from the rebels themselves as they do not know how to use the captured weapons and keep blowing themselves up. They went into a captured amo dump and the weapons came from Russia, Iran, France and the USA.

Manwhile in Tripoli Gaddafi is using Gordon Brown/ Ed Balls tactics and has trippled the wages of ALL public sector workers and reduced their taxes and the banks are giving free money away to all equivallent to one month’s wages. Needless to say these people love their Muammar.
