          • No sockpuppet of GOM. Expat Twats is speaking ironically about various contributors, who include myself, no longer live in the UK due to the sociofascist NeueArbeit government of Reichsführer-SS Bliar, followed by the marginally even worse Obergruppenführer Braun. Of course, you cannot even be expected to understand this as your IQ is only half of your shoe size, shown by your inability to create your own identity, hiding under those of others. At least Expat Twats’s IQ is equivalent to his shoe size. Now fuck off and croak, there’s a good fellow.

Usually by people who are not at work, sometimes through maternity leave (ok) but mostly through sickness which is very much mismanaged by poorly trained staff.
This should be managed by outsourced specialists.
There are two main outcomes; an eventual return to work, or more normally, a payoff and termination of the contract.
Sensitively managed, it’s a win win every time.
The timetable could be reduced drastically.
I know. I’ve been on both sides of the table.

64% of all new HIV cases are people from sub-Saharan Africa. It costs £320,00 to treat each HIV person over their lifetime. No wonder the NHS is a basket case. BTW why can’t we divert the money from our overseas aid budget to treat these foreigners in our NHS hospitals?

          • Sensible Bloke says:

If you wonder how they do it, the word is”student”. Simply enroll in any UK college and the fact you have paid nothing into the NHS, ever, and will not, doesn’t matter. Overseas “Students” are entitled to the full range of NHS services. The NHS is run by politicians who simply don’t understand reality, which is one of the best arguments for not letting them run anything, certainly not the NHS

Couple of years back an Egyptian couple having fertility treatment in Egypt turned up with five premature quins in Newcastle Hospital and blocked the entire hospital paediatric intensive care unit. The father had enrolled on a course at a Newcastle college. Probably cost the NHS half a million quid in one go. They should have had to pay for private treatment but for the magic word “student” – which means we pay for it instead

The NHS complains its short of money, because they p*ss it up the wall.

    • 5

And who lent the equipment, the cameras, lighting, sound, editing, production … and who paid for it? We did, probably.

Let me try and help you hate me even more than you already do. I still own a property in the UK which I rent out. Yes, in addition to all my sins (as perceived by you), I am a “wicked, capitalist, Rachmanite landlord” in the UK. Therefore I have income which I have to declare. Awful, isn’t it? And there you are on your giro which is about to be stopped – which I am helping to pay for with my taxes. Enjoy your evening.

Before you start attacking Stafford Hospital, remember all the good things that happen there too. It’s easy to slate it – but remember there are people who rely on that hospital. If they had not intervened speedily when I had a stroke I would have been dead. It was their actions that allowed me a full recovery and the chance to return to work.

Don’t kick it until you have to use it yourself!!!

        • 137
          13eastie says:

It’s usually not until they test it that people discover what a completely hopeless basket-case the NHS really is.

When company directors allow their employees to die needlessly in the work-place, they find themselves on manslaughter charges.

When NHS managers let their paying customers die needlessly, Bevan’s fundamentalist zealots leap to defend them from the heretics.

Labour’s benevolent monster can go fuck itself. And on that note it was Tacitus who said:

“Candor and generosity, unless tempered by due moderation, leads to ruin”.

          • Bus to Crookes says:

“It’s usually not until they test it that people discover what a completely hopeless basket-case the NHS really is.”

If this is the case, why is public satisfaction with the NHS at an all time high, and higher than users of health services in other developed countries?

          • 13eastie says:

Because, like the rest of the public sector, the NHS has been misappropriated to provide succour to the feckless (in denial of the anatomical truth that their anuses are smaller than their fag-chomping mouths) rather than care for the sick.

          • Bus to Crookes says:

So the people surveyed were all feckless fag chompers, and not really sick at all?
            This is fascinating.

        • 196
          Fog says:

NHS is ok for emergencies but there’s no preventative medicine. With proper annual tests you may not have had the stroke in the first place. NHS is rationed and GPs are the gatekeepers.

          • Bus to Crookes says:

What makes you say that there’s no preventative medicine in the NHS?

Also, health care is rationed in all countries.

          • Fog says:

Because the NHS is run on socialist/communist lines, people of that mindset won’t accept a mix and match approach which would be more beneficial. For example, if we had plenty of private, walk-in, reasonably priced, clinics all over the country, as they do in Asia, the rest of Europe and other places, those who could afford it and wanted to, could have tests and consult doctors, and pay for it, which would free up some of the GP and other NHS workers’ time for those who can only go that route. But the marxist crowd don’t want anyone to have what they think of as an advantage over anyone else. Test results shouldn’t take a week or more as they do in the NHS, other places have results the same day. In Asia and Europe they also have the latest screening equipment. It is also a nonsense that even those in UK with private health insurance have to go via their GP and wait for a letter to be written.

We don’t even take on the small, good ideas, like charge a small sum for an appointment with a GP, which they do in Australia, which would stop the time wasters who don’t show up.

UK is so behind, and kept blind by the media.

in the building where my office is located there was also a (gladly departed) company called “Alliance Healthcare”, a US outfit whose business is renting nurses to the NHS at extortionate rates. Bearing in mind that they are a “private sector” (*cough* fascist) organization whose only source of income was the NHS i fail to see how labour didn’t “privatize” the NHS.

now i don’t know anything about the new NHS reforms except that doctors not PCTs will allocate money but i fail to see how it makes any ideological difference – the NHS has been using private health providers for ages and ages under Blair’s “third way” all that happened was PCTs chose them and now doctors will chose them. healthcare is still free at the point of use and no insurance is required – so how is that like the US system?

If the NHS werefor sale, what would the asking price be?

On its balance sheet, analysts would find:

Goodwill of hordes of benefit scrounging time-wasting land-whales who see the GP as the gateway to a merry life on incapacity benefit eating crisps and smoking Lambert & Butlers in front of the TV, before their basket-case “families” cast them aside and they clog up the hospital wards for decades with their gluttonous carcases. (Nobody willing to work to pay for anything would choose the NHS in its current form as a provider).

Intellectual Property Fuck all. All the drugs favoured by doctors were developed in the private sector. Likewise instruments and machinery. The worst IT systems you could ever hope to encounter. Not a single idea that could be sold elsewhere.

Fixed Assets Nice new facilities that disastrously-negotiated PFI contracts entered into by Labour will ensure can never be realised for the amount paid for them

Current Assets Cash, nil. Pension fund, nil. Debtors, nil.

Liabilities PFI, pension obligations, essential redundancy payments. All fucking enormous.

Equity Nil. Compared to what Labour have continually termed “investment” absolutely fuck-all.

If you’re scared that the private sector will outbid the NHS for services, if public money is controlled by the demands of GPs and patients, your fear only makes sense if you believe that the private companies will offer a more POPULAR and a BETTER service. Which means that your political ambitions are to decrease the quality of healthcare in this country.

      machiavellian anal despot says:

Has the once-proud Labour Party come to this? Workers were once abused, treated like shit and left to live in disease-ridden hovels. They were the reason that the Trades Unions brought a party for them, the Labouring Classes, into being.

Laws were passed, the Health and Safety Executive was brought into being to stop fingers, arms and lives being lost. The vital battles were won because a manifest wrong needed to be put right: like slavery, like Apartheid.

Those battles are over. Now it’s just a Fabian dining club, keen to invite airhead models to its dining table.

Erm, slavery was abolished in the UK just shy of 100 years before the Labour party was formed?

Correct what you say, also re the slave trade just who was selling these slaves for baubles.
Well we all know that scenario don’t we?
Selling your own people down the river as applied to this country sounds rather familiar.
On another note more to the point can you tell me what is this Rap/Crap music all about eg: is it some kind of stirring up people,is it some kind of poetry in an obscene rebellious kind of way.
I don’t tend to listen to so called modern music, but because Guido put this on I did and this obviously demented individual paid up arsehole was a complete and utter demonstration of the phsyco nutters in the Liebour party are prepared to countenance.
If I can go back to the original labour party and what it was formed for I fully understand that and I say it changed the face of politics in this country.
But the current Liebour Party is a shadow of it’s former self, back in them days we did have a labour party that were represtantative of the people of this land.
Now what do we have,in my opinion a party who have visited the most awful scenario to this country.
Subservience to EUSSR control to our our country by unelected by us Eurocrats who couldn’t care Jack Shit wether we like it or not.
Today we have seen that Portugal are in the brown stuff, will it make a difference all in all at this stage probabley not, they will cobble up some sort of deal to keep their targets alive, but remember this you are now seeing Portugal in strife who is next,in my opinion we are now seeing the fragmentation of the european dream of domination of the EU and of North African countries.
Finnaly may I say that what you are seeing now is only the beginings of what yoiu are about to see.

David Cameron took out maximum taxpayer-funded mortgage – then paid off own £75k loan four months later

David Cameron revealed that he paid off a loan on his London home shortly after taking out a £350,000 taxpayer-funded mortgage on his constituency house.

David Cameron claimed for expenses on a second home – the mortgage interest, when he only had one mortgage. He was also one of the largest claimers of this expense in the commons for many years.

    Tapestry says:

Didn’t this rapper know that the health industry is a cartel? That’s why we have the NHS. By making health free at the point of delivery, the pharmaceutical companies can sell far more of their drugs. That’s why they want to replicate the system in the USA.

Consumers are more likely to believe the treatment is doing them good, and is well-intentioned, if it’s free. It has been demonstrated that patients consume fully all medicines given to them free, and often don’t consume what they buy.

Alternative medicines and practitioners can be squeezed out. The NHS is entirely safe in the cartel’s hands. Don’t worry. They like a monolithic structure that is totally corrupted to serve the interests of the industry.

They just find new ways to squeeze more profits from the service. By making GPs the decision-takers, they can ensure the weakest link drives more demand their way, and that no one hears of ways that might actually make them well, reducing demand for pharmacy. GPs are given a pharmaceutical training, not a health training. Perfect.

There are wonderful and caring doctors in the BMA who are so wedded to impartially representing their colleagues that they fully declare their political affiliations without prompting. In addition pigs have similar aerodynamic attributes to eagles. The BMA is a union nothing more. They attempt to portray themselves as an independent academic organisation with their various health pronouncements. They are nothing of the sort. I speak as a keen observer of their contortions. A current consultant “representative” spent much time on roadshows attempting to sell the previous governments new contract which was rejected by over 60% of the profession. This person neglected to mention that he was an activist working for the re-election of a Labour MP.
