Ed Miliband’s people have been cosying up to The Sun, they had dinner with the team and Ed was even allowed to fire a shot at Ken Clarke in an Op Ed about crime. So when paper cites sources close to the camp, Guido is listening. Balls will probably be spending a lot of time in his little break out room today given it has emerged that Miliband was ready to offer the Shadow Chancellor post to his brother before the old bruiser.
Given that everyone from the US Treasury department to the local courts have issues with Balls and debt, David would certainly have been a wiser choice. Though there would have been an element of tweedle-dee about having the two brothers at the top, at least David is vaguely electable.
