+ + + Chaytor Launches Sentence Appeal + + +

Despite pleading guilty and despite being fast-tracked to an open prison, David Chaytor is not going away quietly. When he was locked up, the sentencing judge said sending him down would go some way to restoring the public’s faith in politics, but it seems he isn’t willing to take one for the team. He is appealing the length of his sentence. The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge, and two other judges will hear an application by 61-year-old Chaytor at the Court of Appeal on March 22.

Let’s hope he gets castration (with a blunt, rusty knife) added to his sentence. That would be equitable.

That would send out a much needed message, people are sick of politicians exploiting their privileged positions to waste even more tax payers money, he is guilty as charged, the Judge should double his original sentence for wasting the Courts time.

He was given a reduced sentence because he pleaded guilty and saving court time so nothing to stop them removing the discount for taking up court time.

As he will only do 9 months inside and outside an open prison anyway, why bother?

MPs’ expenses probe cost £840,000 so far. That is just police costs, I would imagine the legal costs are more.

In unrelated news, Mr Tony Blair will not be appealing against the verdict of innocent passed upon him by the Libyan bomber enquiry. His close friend Mr Giorgio Brownshirt also waived his right to be found guilty of licking Gadaffi all over in return for oil deals.
And Mr Vladimir Rasputin insisted that his Middle-Eastern destabilisation strategy had not backfired.

    Observer says:

Your average murder, rapist, mugger, forger, burglar etc at least accepts his sentence and gets on with it. The criminal Chaytor doesn’t. I believe that the appellate court can increase a sentence when there is an appeal against it, as well as decrease it. Come on, Lord Judge, another six months for Chaytor’s cheek!

maybe he thinks by pleading guilty and getting a lower sentence, he now thinks he is being victimised by the system that brought him up ( parliament) and that few others have been through the courts and he will therefore highlight this hypocricy. maybe not – shoot him anyway

Being transferred to a category D prison wasn’t enough – but on what grounds does Chaytor intend to appeal? Does he believe that the usual tarriff for stealing £20,000 is less than the 18 months that he received?

I hope that his sentance is increased – the man has no shame.
