+ + + Rumour: Cable Sacked/Quitting/Dithering + + +

Guido is four hours into lunch but word is going round that Cable might not be long for this world. Politically that is.

He’s in a meeting with Clegg…

UPDATE: Mr Cable has just walked into Downing Street. Looking as miserable as ever.

UPDATE II: Last tango in Whitehall. Seems Cable held the rose in his lip and bit too deeply.

UPDATE III: Corks popping in Tory circles.

UPDATE IV: Seems the nuclear option bombed… or did it, is he “un-fireable”?

UPDATE V: Grovelling apology at the eleventh hour? It’s chaos… Guido is hearing twenty different rumours, either way Cable is deeply wounded and set to be demoted. BBC says he won’t be waltzing away, not that Nick Robinson’s record at calling things has been up to scratch recently.

How incredibly stupid he must be. DC has no choice in the matter and he has to go, but my guess is he wants him to tender his resignation rather than give him the push. I hope they use this as the means to get David Laws back.

          Disaffected says:

I hope he gets sacked. As for the expense fiddling Laws, he should be sacked/recalled, if he was in the commercial world he would be gone. Clegg and Cameron need to start acting as leaders and act on their promises before the election. I am already sick of the socialist Tory party in coalition with Lie Dems.

Clegg now wants juvenile asylum seekers freely living in houses paid for by the British tax payer not detention centres. Why fck should tax payers pay for this and their legal bills etc. What are they going to do if their asylum is refused? How are we going to find them amongst the mass of immigrants? I am sick of MPs thinking we can pay for the ills of the world. UK PLC is broke, wake up!

Deport asylum seekers ASAP. Sort out immigration, fck the expensive EU and get out of Afghanistan. In these dire economic times it really is not hard to make decisions to save money for the country for the deserving people of this country. Wikileaks showed how the Americans thought we could not cope with mass immigration policy of Blair. Yet lefty Cable wants more- I would sack him for this alone.

It is also about time the Probation Service talked to Social Service to get criminals on CPOs to clear streets and put something back in society for the expense and misery they have caused others. Why not make them help the elderly and vulnerable in society under close supervision. Drugies are still able to collect their state free methadone, then they are also able to clear streets and act as runners for the vulnerable. Ken Clark needs a wake up call to get criminals working for the country and put something back rather than take, take, take. What are the consequences for being a criminal? Living in a cell being fed three/four meals a day watching TV. Their life style in prison is better than they would have at their state free home. There needs to be consequences for their actions.

Cameron was adamant he was going to scrap the Human Rights Act- when???? I would like an election ASAP.

One of Guido's Balanced Contributors says:

Now the BBC is reporting that Cable will stay on but all media matters will pass to John Hunt’s Media Ministry.

I am disappointed at the shallowness of some of the remarks on here and at the TV commentators like Adam Boulton (who salivated over the youth and attractiveness of the two people posing as constituents to entrap Cable).

Not least, it appears that for many it is totally unacceptable for Assange to be handed private emails that he did not acquire himself and publish them. To the same people it is entirely acceptable for the Telegraph to obtain, by false representation of themselves, private comments and then publish them.

Of course, Cable was wrong to forget his position and should not have made the comments that he did. It was wrong because a minister responsible for initiating a legal process should hide his personal views, pretend he doesn’t have any and maintain the charade that he is neutral to the process.

Fortunately, many people share Cable’s concern on the ever increasing control of all media outlets by one individual. This includes most of the labour party spokesmen who are now putting politics before principle on this issue.

Even more people will like Cable’s bluntness. And he will not lose respect for this -except in the corporate village of Westminster.

What seems like a disaster will long term help rather than worsen the rather hopeless LibDem position. A row over one of their leading figures being bluntly honest, however unwise, will play out in their favour.

Of course, Sky’s politico’s are, not surprisingly, totally commendatory. I wonder why?

Fuck-off beeboid scum! Muroch’s control of the media is nothing compared to the hegmonic left-wing influence of the BBC and it’s National free TV, World service, National and local radio, free internet services has on broadcast news.
Murdoch’s online papers are behind a paywall for one thing.

The main difference is that News Corp only survives if people CHOOSE to pay for it. Where as, we all are forced to pay for the BBC licence fee, under threat of criminal prosecution.
