BBC Tea Party Documentary Tonight, U.S. Mid-Terms Tomorrow
Guido has just watched a preview of tonight’s BBC documentary, “Tea Party America”. Surprisingly it did not characterise them all as closet Klu Klux Klan loving creationists – usually the BBC finds the nuttiest looking demonstrator and interviews them as a typical Tea Partier. Probably because Andrew Neil was reporting and didn’t go in with the usual pre-conceived agenda…
Brillo has been even handed, though he seems wary of Glenn Beck’s populism and suspicious of some Tea Party elements on the fringe. The Washington beltway consensus seems to be that Sarah Palin, the Tea Partier’s sweet-heart, won’t run in 2012, which from an entertainment perspective is a great disappointment. The Tea Partiers will however have an impact this week. Something those of us who think we’re “Taxed Enough Already” will welcome.

The British Tea Party is said to be UKIP. If there were open primaries operated by the Conservative Party, UKIP would be a faction within the party, and not a separate party. The Tea Party is taking over the Republican Party from within, because of Open Primaries.
If the Conservatives would simply open up the candidate selection system, and use open primaries instead of ‘A’ Lists etc with candidates selected by a corrupt elite, Nigel Farage would be a Conservative MP by now and plenty more like him.
Conservative home shows today that 49% of Conservative members want out of the EU, and 85% want repatriation of powers. Only a handful of Conservative MPs stand for withdrawal. Open Primaries would soon fix that.

It’s quite possible that as more powers are enacted by the EU, the discontent of many Britons will grow, and will be reflected by increased share of the vote for UKIP in the EU elections. There will come a point when Parliament can no longer sweep the EU under the carpet, and government either has to negotiate repatriation of powers (citing electoral results as their mandate), or seek partial withdrawal from the EU institutions.

It’s tragic that with about £3.5billion of our money being spent on “impartial” tv every year, that the BBC can only manage to employ 1 person in the entire organisation that has any impartiality.
My guess is that the only reason he’s still employed there is because if he was fired for being an impartial person that doesn’t follow the verbatim labour spin that Mandy dictates then he’d tell everyone the horror stories of just how truly biased the BBC really are behind the scenes.
I bet he could tell a ton of stories that’d make everyone who’s not a “core” labour voter want to march to parliament and demand the immediate abolition of the BBC (or a 100% withdrawal of their license fee money).
Personally, I think they should completely abolish the license fee and let the BBC stand on its own commercial feet, because there’s absolutely no reason why they can’t work in the same way as channel4 or itv; use their commercial programmes to make money to help fund non-commercial programmes, and for the relatively small amount still left needed to fund non-commercial programmes they get a small grant from the government.
Channel4/itv do what the BBC are supposed to do, except they only get a grant of a few million for their non-commercial stuff, whereas the BBC gets £3.5billion. Now, call me old-fashioned or out of touch if you want, but I don’t understand how it costs £3.5billion a year to create kids tv without adverts, a handful of documentaries, and a shit biased news channel, especially when they already sell/license/merchandise all their commercial stuff all over the world to commercial organisations.
