Minister Mauls Guardian

That extra million votes that the LibDems picked up in May was more to do with Cleggmania than the Guardian’s lukewarm endorsement but it’s nice to know their support was appreciated.

While it was hardly Tony Woodley shredding a copy of The Sun from the podium, Paul Burstow lashed out the “spreader of misinformation and lies”. Arguably a fair assessment of the last bastion of print leftism, but unfortunately for the Health Minister, Newsnight’s beady eyed Michael Crick spied him briefing the very same newspaper this morning.

What was he passing on, misinformation or lies?

Brown Bunker Debunked, Labour's Lying Liars

Steve Richards’s inside look at the Brown Bunker on Radio4 this morning proved what Guido was saying all along about the Prime Mentalist. It also proved what many suspected about the likes of Peter Mandelson, Ed Balls, Harriet Harman, Jack Straw, Douglas Alexander, Alan Johnson, and the Milibands . Always publicly loyal, always on message, always defending the dear leader. Always lying through their teeth…

Funny we didn’t hear Deborah Mattinson say No.10 “was an incredibly unhappy place to be” at the time. “Almost everybody in it was incredibly unhappy, and I think ultimately Gordon has to take responsibility for that, for the fact that he didn’t sort it out.” How come the staffers remained silent about the PM stuck “between rage and despair”. Alan Johnson managed to keep it quiet while in office that “You just heard every day of blood on the walls. No one could be around in politics in a senior position and not know that there were big problems over at Number 10.” There was only one place to find the truth in those dark days…

Bigger Brother Twists Arms

Labour Uncut claims that “This Saturday, David Miliband will be elected. It will not mean that we are on the path back to power. Nor that we have fully come to terms with our election defeat. But we will have a new leader.” Well at least half of that is true, but that hasn’t stopped David’s campaign team putting a bit of stick about amongst the 2010 intake of MPs to secure their support in the non-secret ballot.

Guido hears that the David’s henchman have told the newbies “We are going to be back in power in 2015, so this decision is about whether you want a ministerial job or not.”

The campaign is clearly brimming with confidence…

Quote of the Day

Andy Coulson told the Press Gazette in 2005:

“We talk about our stories in great detail prior to publication. I’m very lucky to have a great executive team here with so much experience. We’ve got fantastic lawyers… we spend a great deal of time talk about stories, thinking them through and trying to second guess any problems.”

Totty Trumps

It seems the misbehaving MPs feature particularly heavily in the annual Sky News conference season Top Trumps:

This year the “fanciabilty” ranking has caused a few eyebrows. No surprise that the judges (Sir Michael White, Quentin Letts, Sophy Ridge, Paul Waugh, Julia Hartley-Brewer, Iain Dale and Katie Snape) gave pretty boy Zac Goldsmith 100%, but David Miliband on 95%… really?
