Cameron’s Camp Confusion

On the day that the Prime Minister upset supporters and many of his closest allies by describing Gaza as a “prison camp”, over in the prison yard things look a little different. Check out the new shopping mall that opened in Gaza just ten days ago:

How did that go up without building materials?

Or what about those near famine like conditions? The markets seem thriving and richer citizens can enjoy all sorts of restaurants:

Gaza offers beaches and even an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Who is running this “prison camp”, Ken Clarke?

Update : The Indy’s John Rentoul emails to say he tweeted a link to this earlier. He clearly has the same Mossad Liaison Officer as Guido.

Anyway, who fancies a beer on the beach in Gaza?

This article is a biased in inaccurate piece of propaganda, nothing more.

Shame that 80% of the Gazan’s cannot afford to shop at this market due to the unhuman siege that Isreal are imposing on an entire people. This sort of mass collective punishment is unlawful under international law and the Geneva conventions.

I call bullshit on Mr Ned’s the Mall is very small and expensive.

            http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/as-the-israeli-blockade-eases-gaza-goes-shopping-2035432.html

            quotes
According to Ms Wahad, jeans going at 80 shekels [£13.50] in the mall compare with ones for 150 elsewhere. Another shopper, Lemis Baroud, 30, visiting the store with a friend, said: “We came to see how it is. The prices are good. When I first came, I thought a new mall would be expensive but it is cheaper.”

Ms Wahad, 21, had only bought a £2 family sized stick of deodorant – which she said would have cost her £2.50 elsewhere

But in fact the shops are selling much the same wares that have long been available in other stores and at a lower price, an important plus when unemployment has been running above 40 per cent and over 60 percent live below a poverty line of $2 per day.

so Mr Ned – easily disproved bullshit. Must try harder.

The video released by Israel, and the radio transmissions have been proven to be fakes. they have been analysed and taken apart piece by piece and proven to be crude fakes.

The real videos smiggled off the vessel show Israeli IDF officers killing innocent, unarmed aid workers in cold blood. Execution style.

Forcing an American citizen to kneel down and then shooting him in the back of the head several times in international waters is a high crime.

Obama sickeningly defended Israel for their act of unlawful murderous piracy on the high seas.

The IDF soldiers had a booklet of PEACEFUL aid workers who they wanted to kill.

They boarded that ship and attacked those aid workers deliberately, pre-determinately and with malice aforethought.

Who gives a fuck about Gaza? On a planet of six billion, there are plenty of shit holes (prizon camps or shopping malls: you decide) full of poverty and misery. In the case of Israel and Palestine they have decided to spend their lives perpetually blowing one another up, or voting for those who promote it. Leave them to it. More worrying however (as it effects me, my family, my friends, my colleagues, the economy in which I work, the culture and values into which I was born, adopted and cherish) were Cameron’s words on Turkey joining the EU: “Vital for our economy, vital for our security and vital for our diplomacy.” What a load of bollocks. How can 70 million piss-poor muslims (and we all know what a great combination Islam and poverty make) with the right to migrate to the UK, be good for us? Not to mention a border with Syria, Iran and Iraq, over which we have no control, the growing and never mentioned islamification of Turkey (Dawkins ‘God Delusion’ banned – very secular) with the army threatening to take power every five minutes (very democratic). I’d like to see Uncle David take his Mrs around a bazaar in Ankara. Once his wallet has gone missing, and Sarah has been mobbed by a throng of toothless, sexually-repressed, grandma-selling charlatans, he may change his mind.

… note that the reported size [of this mall] is about 20,000 square feet (1,850 square meters). To put this in perspective, the average size of a Wal-Mart store in the US is five times larger than the entire Gaza “mall”: 108,000 square feet (with the largest Wal-Mart stores going up to 185,000 square feet!). Now I have received this eyewitness account from a source in Gaza:
“I found out about the Gaza mall. Yes it exists. The goods in there are very expensive and it’s not a real mall, barely bigger than a little supermarket. It has 4 sections, one sells vegetables grown in Gaza, the 2nd section sells clothes and shoes, a 3rd section is like a huge supermarket with things brought to Gaza through the tunnels, and the last sells electric materials, TVs, stereos… The owners are very rich people in the Gaza Strip. Most of the stuff being sold are either made in Gaza, or brought via tunnels. And there are no thousands visitors, when I went there, I saw about 15-20 people only.”

While you’re at it, Guido, I gather some Israeli media staff recently put together a hilarious video explaining why all the Gazans are lying about being blockaded and all criticism of Israel is an international conspiracy. I recommend it – that seems to be about your level.

As for your baseless accusation of holocaust denial, I would urge you to retract that for it is NOT true. I have never denied the holocaust. I wish Israel would extend the same acceptance of truth to OTHER holocausts in recent history. It is grotesque that the Israeli nation denies all other holocausts but their own.

Also I am NOT saying that Israel has no right to exist. ONLY that it should exist, under international law and abide by that international law alongside a Palestinian state, based on the internationally recognised (YES EVEN BY HAMAS) UN mandated 1967 borders.

Israel MUST have their massive nuclear weapons stockpile removed. They MUST abide by the same law that they expect everyone else to abide by and become a signatory of the UN’s NPT.

Do you feel comfortable that Isreal has tried to secretly sell nuclear weapons to other nations outside of NPT control?

Israel is behaving like a very dangerous rogue state and it DOES have WMDs including nukes and they (Senior Israeli Military commanders) admit that they are pointed at European capitals including London.

I do not condone Hamas, or anyone else firing their small rockets into Israel. OR their suicide bombers. Terrorism is wrong whichever side is engaged in it. But do not be blind as to who the bigger aggressor is in this.

Hamas themselves are about as reasonable as any group would be in their circumstances, ie fighting to defend themselves against occupation by overwhelmingly technically superior adversaries. Guido spinning for the Israeli government does not change one single fact on the ground, eg

About 39,000 child refugees in Gaza will not attend UNRWA schools this year, since the Agency is unable to build or rebuild schools due to the Israeli blockade, damage sustained during the 23-day Israeli offensive (27 December 2008 – 18 January 2009). Source: UNRWA

Infrastructure is in a state of collapse: 80 million cubic litres of untreated sewage is pumped into the Mediterranean Sea each day, and 90 per cent of the water is undrinkable by World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

Mass unemployment, extreme poverty, food insecurity and food price rises caused by shortages has left four in five of the 1.5 million Gazans dependent on humanitarian aid. The scope of the blockade and statements made by Israeli officials about its purpose showed that it was being imposed as a form of collective punishment of Gazans, a flagrant violation of international law. Let’s not forget that the majority of Gazans legitimately voted for Hamas as a reaction to the corrupt Fatah government, they are consequently being collectively punished for it, and the basic truth is that Palestinians are being denied their rights to a state of their own by an increasingly right wing, nationalisitic Israeli government whose policies towards the Palestinians are reminiscent of apartheid South Africa. In relative terms Israel has the largest propertion of startup companies in the world. In absolute terms, Israel has the largest number of startup companies than any other country in the world, except the United States.

Israel is ranked #2 in the world for venture capital funds right behind the United States.

Outside the United States and Canada, Israel has the largest number of NASDAQ listed companies.

Israel has the highest average living standards in the Middle East.

Israel is the only liberal democracy in the Middle East.

With no resources to speak of, except its people’s brains and energy, Israel’s economy is larger than all of its immediate neighbors combined.

The reason why no Arab country does anything to help the so-called Palestinians is that they are hated and despised by all of them. After all, they are only a bunch of theiving murdering dregs who spend their entire lives looking for ways to steal from and destroy their betters. cweinblatt says:

Israel is the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people. This land means little to Islam. There are thousands of references in the Talmud to Jerusalem, yet only a handful of references to it in the Quran.

Yet, ascertaining contemporary validity for ownership of a land must not be derived from a piece of parchment or mention of “God providing it.” Rather, it is possible to empirically determine who has a more valid claim – Jews or Palestinians. We must turn to history and professional historians for the answer. There have been thousands of thesis and dissertation papers on the topic. It has been very well researched and vetted by generations of global historians. Rather than looking for a rabbi or Imam, we require PhD’s who are highly respected and have comprehensive research. The UN would not have created the contemporary State of Israel had not Jews been the longest surviving claimants.

Jews are the oldest organized monotheistic religion. They reached the land of Israel after their escape from Egypt, more than 3,000 years ago. This fact is accepted by virtually all professional historians. To that extent, Jews predate Islam by at least 1,000 years and Palestinians by at least 1,500 years. I could provide hundreds of citations for this research, but this web site prohibits such endeavors and space. Let’s just say that you don’t require a PhD in History to validate the statement. In fact, by historical context, Palestinians only recently arrived in the area. Canaanites were there when Jews arrived, about 3,600 years ago. But, they have no surviving descendents. Therefore, Jews have a solid claim upon the land called Israel.

In 2005, Israel gave Gaza to Palestinians. In return for this generosity, Palestinian terrorists launched more than 4,000 rockets into Israeli cities and towns, aimed at the most innocent Jews – women and children. Palestinian terrorists mistake generosity for weakness. Why would Israel again wish to donate land to Palestinians, when they clearly wish to use it as a lunching point to murder innocent Jews?

Four times in recent years, Israel has accepted a peace treaty. Four times, Palestinians broke the treaty by attacking Israeli civilians. It is painfully obvious that Palestinians do not desire peace. In fact, the charters of Hamas and Hezbollah call for the total destrouction of Israel and the death of Jews.

What would you do to protect your legal home from those who launch suicide bombers and rockets at it and threaten to murder your family? Would you run away and hide? Or, would you fight to protect your legal home and your family?

As a British Israeli / Israeli British, brought up in England with the wonderful BBC and now living back and forwards in both places, I can actually see both sides. (It’s a weird deformity)

The collective punishment is terrible, and the fact that there are nice malls, olympic sized swimming pool and a higher standard of living than Eygpt and lower infant mortality than most other Arabs countries is actually not relevant. They need to be able to be free to leave Gaza, like we are free to travel – ie, to a country that lets us, get a visa, can afford the flights etc.

The problem is there are so many problems.

Israelis in general know there is a big issue with the way the Palestinians are treated in Gaza, but don’t actually know a way to solve it. If the government in Gaza could bring itself to recognise Israel, the problem would be over instantly, but Israel feels existentially threatened.

If you think that Israel does not want peace, why are there not the same problems in the West Bank? Because the government there understands, at least partially the need to be pragmatic.

How could Israel “give away” Gaza in 2005 considering it never owned it to begin with? You really should pay more attention in those Hasbara classes: Israel never annexed Gaza, simply invaded and settled some of its population there in contravention of the Geneva Conventions. Deciding to withdraw after nearly 40 years in order to comply withe the law is not making a gift of anything. Nor is simply withdrawing to one’s own side of the border and instituting a siege in place of the occupation.

I think all this fuss about what DC said about Gaza, as well as his comments about Pakistan are totally 100% spot on, and the press is showing its true colours by making a major storm about it.
Here they are bringing on all kinds of pro-Pakistani nitwits on TV who decry DC’s “horrible gaffe”. WTF? All he’s doing is stating the bleedin obvious. Nearly every single atrocity in the last decade has been caused by Pakistani-bred, or Pakistani trained terrorists. They probably had a dozen chances to grab Bin Laden & turned a blind eye as he slipped away. They have completely played the two-faced sneaky bastard role in this ‘War on Terror’, and they are nowhere near as anti-Taleban as they make out. If there’s anything that came out of the Wikileaks documents, it;s how the Pakistanis re double-crossing the west. Cameron calls them out on it, and listen to them all squeal and cry foul! It’s all true and you know it. Now please, can we get the disgustingly pro-Labour BBC and others to shut the fukk up for a minute?

Look…no matter what you say, the UK is now far far far better off now than it was under the inept statist Labour tosspots, and no matter how much the likes of Ed Bollocks or Alistair badger eyebrows Darling or Harriet womyn-power Harman etc keep whining, they are frikkin GONE and will hopefully never be seen or heard from again. They are doing their best to somehow stay in the limelight when they know that they are completely irrelevant & will all soon be getting about the same amount of attention as Jacqui Smith now gets…

You had your chance, you made a complete unprecedented hash of it all, the next 3 generations will pay for your complete ineptitude, now pls just fukk off and never ever bother us again!!
