Classic evasion and wealling from an expenses pig caught bang to rights

If it was a Labour pig you would be screaming for his blood after a revolting performance like that but we all know the partisan hypocrites who infest this place

I say congratulations to Zac’s parents, well worth the education. He creamed the lefty Snow and Channel 4 who are being vindictive because he is rich.

        I agree with Zac

Here we see the windowlickers in full flow against expenses pig Jim Devine

but strangely, no-one is attacking the interviewer

because Devine is Labour and this place is filled with hypocrites who don’t give a fuck about expenses thieving if it’s one of Dave’s chosen golden boys

          • Gordon Broon's Granny says:

This is a Liebore / Channel 4 stitch up with that old leftie Snow

            Goldsmith should complain and sue

          • Gordon Broon's Granny says:

You are so thick you don’t realise that the money spent was his own money and they are alleging that he spent too much of his own money

          • Oink! Oink! says:

          • Erich Honecker says:

You fucking lefty dimwits that think this is ‘expenses’ – kill yourselves and do the gene pool a favour.

Snow is a Gramscian-long-marcher, a self-righteous narcissitic joke. He doesn’t like it up him.

Makes a change from spending too much of other people’s money.

Zak is living with a Rothschild he is related to the rothschilds, he is pushing global warming for the rothschilds, the rothschilds are using global warming to enslave the middleclasses.

Dave rushed Zak through as Dave is controled by the rothschilds

Even the Lib Dem Coalition partners are laughing at Zac's excerable preformance says:

It’s true car-crash telly, with Zac Goldsmith spending the first seven minutes of the interview ranting against Channel 4 News in a way that will have had Tory HQ cringeing with embarrassment.

          Phil says:

I am amazed at Goldsmith’s self restraint after watching that.
What an obnoxious leftist shit Jon Snow is.
Along with Question time’s Dimbleby and others there appears to be a concerted campaign by the media elite to rubbish the new government by inuendo and smear.
I wonder who is orchestrating this farce masquerading as balanced reporting and when will the tories catch on that the BBC,Channel 4 and the whole left wing media circus have already declared full scale, no holds barred, war on them?

          • Ron E. says:

Why did Snow have the astounding arrogance to expect Zac to have to answer any of his questions ? Snow should have grovelled at his feet and praised Zac for singlehandedly saving the Planet, with his forward thinking Green agenda and vast fortune, before even being allowed to address Zac.

Instead Snow had the bad manners to keep asking impertinent questions. How Rude! The realpurpose of any interview with Zac on his expenses claims is to aggrandise him and praise him until Zac deigns to leave the studio a happier and wiser place for having basked, however briefly, in his unmistakable majesty and rich glory.

          • Purpleline says:

Tories will cut licence fee by 50% and win next election. It is payback time

Only a fuckwit Liebore Huhne would say the allegations against Goldsmith are the same as what this twat did. If Goldsmith is found to have done wrong, then he should be deselected. This ugly obese Labour Huhne committed fraud.

          • troughers R us says:

A Pig is a Pig you disgusting apologist fuckwit

The point is that in both interviews the expenses pigs came across as hopelessly out of touch weaseling wankers

How’s the new Pigs ? Lovely are they ?

          • BarMaidsays says:

Yes, we still have to pay for Blair’s security. Mandelson has just been linked to another dodgy millionaire, and we’ll be paying to save his skin. The BBC insist on giving Cambell air time, which we pay for through our licences.

        • 167
          Fuck Labour says:

At least Goldsmith appeared to answer for himself. I don’t recall Stephen “Cab for Hire” Byers, Patricia “I want to expand my portfolio” Hewitt, Margaret “You can tell when I’m excited about something, I throw my hands in the air and go sort of ‘woomph’” Moran, Geoff “I did a bit of Hoon work” Hoon, and Tony B “$20m fortune from Iraqi oil” doing that.

          • Susie says:

            Indeed.

And add to that the successful candidate on a women’s only shortlist happened to be a man, Jack Dromey.

          • Zac Pratt says:

Am I alone here? Zac seemed switched on and entirely correct. Snow just wouldn’t let him get near to making his point. It could have taken 30 seconds to clear up before the real issue, a non issue, was discussed.

        Guy gets my vote.

        • 278
          You are alone says:

All Goldsmith ‘exposed’ was how desperately shifty and evasive he is. He was asked to appear last Friday, FFS. He came across like a petulant child, outraged that ‘the plebs’ had the effrontery to question him. Evidently, he’s every bit as sinister/buffoonish as his father was. The voters of Richmond are going to be ill-served by this entitled ass.

          • Thunderbox says:

Oh no he isn’t. I made that 3-0 to Zac and I’m not even a fan of his. The greatest outcome was that it pays to have a paid education.

          • Zac's minions are as deranged and out of touch as he is says:

That’s the third or fourth time you’ve said that little minion.
Do fuck off you revolting brown noser.
I doubt you’ll get paid any of his cash with your pathetic efforts.

I don’t know which is worse. The apparent illegal activities of Zac to get himself elected, his absurd prevarication and attempts to talk out the interview with Jon Snow, or the cheerleaders for Zac on here who not only think he didn’t do anything wrong but are positively praising him.

You’re not alone. It’s a leftwing stitch up. Why didn’t C4 disclose the other MPs who had accounted for election spending in the same way? Zac should sue the hoons.

          • Dave's Loony Lefty Watermelon Tory says:

“Climate change – for so long an abstract concern for an academic few – is no longer so abstract. Even the Bush administration’s Climate Change Science Programme reports “clear evidence of human influences on the climate system”. The strength of that consensus is such that we are presented with a window of opportunity between the denial of yesterday and the despair of tomorrow.” – Zac G.

Absolutely agree with Anonymous (July 17, 2010 at 12:10 am)

It was so nice to see a victim have a go at these awful pompous interviewers who think they are God’s gift to the world.

Goldsmith may have broken the law, and you can be sure the Electoral Reform people will pursue this and if guilty, he will get what he justly deserves.

And as for lumping his “sleaze” with the other MPs – not sure what planet you are on – it was his own money – wrong, but as far as I am concerned, he wasn’t thieving my money.

Of course the television media is left wing, after the war when the Marxist planned to take over, they decided they were too small in number and started with their fewer numbers to infiltrate the television media and the teaching profession. Sorry for repeating what most of you already know, but I want to make the point.

And before you lump me as a Tory voter, I have to admit, I have voted for them in the past but never once after 1973

          • Susie says:

Exactly. Furthermore he’d win an increased majority if he resigned his seat and stood for a by election tomorrow.

And they know it. That’s what’s bugging them. I really wish the coalition would go tits up and we can have a proper Conservative government.

You can tell the ZaNuLieBor trolls on here by their frenzied, piranha bloodlust posts one after the other following the first response.

It seems that Goldsmith’s insistence on putting the record straight represents the first fightback by the Tories against the constant bias of Al JaBeeBa/Ch4 against them. Let’s hope we see more of it. Al JaBeeBa/Ch4 never seemed to query the bullshit propaganda coming from ZaNuLieBor for the first 10 years of their misrule though.

If Ofcom find that Goldsmith’s offer was made and was refused by Ch4, I hope that Snow is made to read out the grovelling on-air apology himself – he is an arrogant, opinionated Leftist c.unt!

Guilty of what?? Spending his own money? Why don’t you spend your time ranting about those liebour crooks who got away with proven fraud ie Jackie Smith and Margaret Moran for starters….I could go on and on but haven’t the time or energy. Snow is just another member of the chippy left wing brigade who hate the fact that their comrades are no longer in power. I repeat that Zac Goldsmith was being accused by Snow of spending too much of his own money on campaigning; he was NOT spending our money but his own. The loony left should calm down and take a good look at themselves and their own crooked members who have spent 13 years fleecing us and the country.

Election Laws weren’t meant to apply to well bred multi-millionaires like Goldsmith. He is entitled to do as he pleases. Laws are for the common herd of Conservative MPs who Dave luckily never has to speak to and will never be favoured under his regime.

Guilty of being a lying, untrustworthy fraudster who is not fit to hold office.

          • Zac Goldsmith (Millionaire Liar and Fraudster:1st Class) says:

And should Zac the lying fraudster wish to claim that my statements are libellous I will be very pleased to see him in court.
For he will provide me with the evidence that will prove he is a fraudster.
            Thanks, Zac!

          • Maximus says:

The crux of the matter – a total, ludicrous and imbecilic confusion between journalism and the process of law. Any fule journalist knows he doesn’t have a story unless people talk to him of their own volition. Snow looked silly. There may be no ‘right to silence’ in some legal situations, but to demand the rack because someone gives a journalist an answer he doesn’t like is straight out of monty python. Moronic.

I detest MPs who steal public money as much as the next person, but for once we are not talking here about the abuse of public money, merely a limit beyond which candidates may not spend their money, or money raised by their supporters or party, for an election campaign. It remains to be seen whether he did spend in excess of the limit, although I’m bound to say that Jon Snow did himself no favours on this occasion and we were really none the wiser by the end of the interview/slanging match.

Ugh what a shambles. Goldsmith shouldn’t be so arrogant. He should know full well that it is the interviewer who controls the interview. There are ways he can get some leeway but not by bullying the interviewer into submission, unless he wants to come across as an uncaring tosser. Which he does, with aplomb.

(They’ve got him on the jackets, but only because it was on the same receipt as something else. I wonder how many MPs made sure they kept a separate receipt for everything…)

The first rule of appearing on a television programme with a regular host who’s been a mainstay for years? Don’t be rude about the host. In all likelihood the vast majority of the audience that watches the programme on a regular basis likes and carries deep respect for him. If you insult him live on air, it just makes you look bad to those people. (See also Piers Morgan asking the HIGNFY audience if they liked Ian Hislop more than him. He was shocked that they did…)

I watched the C4 Z vs J handbags at five paces interview and thought here we are two grown men going at it like a couple of alley cats, what a complete and utter debacle it turned out to be.
On the scale of things there are far more pertinent questions that need to be addressed by C4 with their investigative journalism than this apparent muck raking exercise.
The country is walking a tightrope due to the last lots profligate ways and all that we can come up with is C4 rabbiting on about this non event.
    How about they try:-
Debts and interest payments for years.
The EUSSR and what it costs us and how it now controls us.
Immigration and the enormous cost of this.
PFI and what that is going to cost us for many years.
Public sector/non jobs and what that costs.
Dumbed down education/subjects taken and how we will be lacking in science and engineering expertise in the not too distant future.
Energy policy or the lack of it,which is now becoming critical because of the green brigade and their sandal wearing friends who think that windmills are the saviour of the planet, what misguided fools they are,and I do consider myself as an engineer to be fairly clued up on this one.
Public sector pensions and this is a real taxpayer nightmare of what private industry taxpayers will have to cough up for.

Did Channel 4 really waste 13 minutes of prime viewing time alleging an MP spent c£2,000 more than he should really have spent on campaigning? Does anybody give a fuck about this? There are still plenty of fraudulent expense claims not investigated and we are worried about somebody buying badged jackets to campaign in a general election. Snow looks petty and small minded. Goldsmith clearly not threatened by this or he’d never had bothered going on the programme. Why is this made to be all about Goldsmith, even if he is guilty of this (and frankly I don’t give a shit) I can’t believe he is the only one. This sort of thing is only really interesting if MPs are literally buying seats and spending tens of thousands of their own money on campaigning – 2 grand spent on jackets almost certainly did not win him the seat.

How often did we see union funded newspaper adverts and billboard posters urging us not to vote other than Labour during the election campaign. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Your mind going is it Reg ?

Only a child or a simpleton didn’t see through Goldsmiths obvious tactic of trying to run out the clock and change the subject to keep the embarrassing questions about his election fraud to a bare minimum.

If he cared so much about his right to reply why did he waste 7 minutes of it it on irrelevance about, and here’s where he looked a complete cretin, not being on the programme the day before to have a right to reply.

One can only assume you are being deliberately obtuse or you have had some tragic blow to the head rendering all your critical faculties useless.

He fooled no-one, he looked hopelessly out of touch and he is a laughing stock. Good to see that pleases you.

          • Sir Reginald Titbrain says:

Thank you for those few kind words.

He wasted 7 minutes trying to make a statement. If he had been given a minute Snow could have avoided all the hassle and then got on with his questions. Goldsmith no more wasted the seven minutes than Snow did.

A bit complicated, I know. Ask a friend to explain.

          • The Ghost of Anthony Steen says:

Thank you for confirming your addled state of mind Sir Reg.

He tried to make no coherent statement but DEMANDED, like a petulant schoolboy, that he first be apologised to for his imagined slight on the hilarious irrelevance of him not being allowed to have a right to reply, while he was having a right to reply.

Snow asked him several times to get on to the substance of the interview which Goldsmith arrogantly ignored because he was terrified of having to answer for his fraudulent expenses claims.

When you graduate from imbecile and brown-noser you may eventually realise that his embarrassingly transparent evasion and diversion tactics backfired. Leaving him looking hopelessly out of touch and desperately clutching at straws. The same position you now find yourself in ironically enough.

Cheating Is A Goldsmith Tradition says:

Greenmail or greenmailing is the practice of purchasing enough shares in a firm to threaten a takeover and thereby forcing the target firm to buy those shares back at a premium in order to suspend the takeover.

The term is a neologism derived from blackmail and greenback as commentators and journalists saw the practice of said corporate raiders as attempts by well-financed individuals to blackmail a company into handing over money by using the threat of a takeover.

Greenmail proved lucrative for investors such as T. Boone Pickens and Sir James Goldsmith during the 1980s. In the latter example, Goldsmith made $90 million from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the 1980s in this manner.

By the end of the interview, I was none the wiser. I think Zac is flaky about climate change but in this instance I could understand – as apparently Barnett did not – that the whole cost of jackets do not have to be charged to the election campaign budget if they are to be used in other situations as well (ie with different stickers on the back instead of “I back Zac”, and therefore some of the cost can be allocated under a different budget heading). The stickers can *only* go on his expenses, and the jackets can be depreciated across multiple campaigns, but need to have a portion of their cost assigned to each one). His claim that “everyone else is doing it” is (1) completely wrong, and (2) a defense as bad as expense fiddlers used.

Perhaps, but like most conflicted financially incompetent lefties, Snow couldn’t even grasp the concept and pursue the matter properly.

      Tapestry says:

Marxists know the truth, and don’t need their minds cluttered with things like invoice allocation procedures.

The truth is that a Tory was elected to Parliament, a Tory who has the effrontery to pay his own election expenses, and not make claim on the State’s purse. How unfair is that?

The only way a poor boy from the wrong side of the tracks can compete is to learn how to argue intelligently, and find out how things actually work. The media haven’t got time for that. Lies and stone-walling the facts are the only way they can ensure that their certain truth can triumph.

For Snow this battle was a Pyrrhic Defeat. If Communists learned the basics of book-keeping, they would no longer be Communists. Snow, for example, would understand what his opponents were saying, and find that he agreed with them.

        He broke election campaigning Laws.

    Tapestry says:

As for Snow, once thought of as a moderately polite and helpful commentator, we now see that he is, in fact, a tribalist fanatic with no ability to concede any points or even consider them intelligently.

He is quite clearly on shaky ground, and could have replied to Goldsmith’s points, but chose not to, giving an ugly display of stone-walling.

If Chanel Number 4 is so useless, that they can’t even hold a sensible discussion on such an issue as this, they should be taken off the air, and replaced with a programme run by humans in possession of a soul and reason. This was an ugly attempt to crush the truth, and gain pathetic political points. Goldsmith answered very well. He’s gone up in my estimation considerably. Snow can shuffle off and die, as far as I’m concerned.

We don’t need people like him, working in our media. They destroy the balance of debate in an important part of our democracy. We have little enough democracy left as it is. If we don’t get rid of the enemy within, trying to take away the chance for people to hear different arguments from differing viewpoints, and instead disseminate one-sided propaganda, then we will be less able to fight our way out of the coming depression. Axe them now.

It was interesting to hear Snow modify his accusations to get over a false impression. It started early with the statement that they had asked ZG for a written response on the friday a week before. ZG said he made the offer to come on the thursday program at 5.30. Snow never denied this but kept saying ‘we asked you a week ago’. On that thursday programme Snow said that ZG did not respond to their offer. Snow kept on trying to confuse the difference between answering written questions and ZG being able to give a live reply

          Pete-s says:

Wrong, he and 30 other MPs were under investigation. He decided to ignore answering written questions. He was the ONLY MP to be the subject of the thursday programme. Snow claimed that he had not replied to be interviewed for the thursday programme, no conditions were set.

I like the idea of people thinking Jon Snow was too aggressive towards a self-confident interviewee.

Personally, I like MPs to have a bit of spine and competence. Going on about the booking process and demanding an apology was, I think, a very badly judged tactic on Goldsmith’s part. Who needs a delicate little flower of an ego demanding the big bad man takes his words back?

Some people have commented on how well Zac did, but I would expect a degree of composure and a few coherent arguments for a well-educated multi-millionaire. Did he manage anything like than that? His approach and style is exactly what I would expect from a Daddy’s boy throwing a tantrum when exposed to public scrutiny for the first time.

A bit of pushing the boundaries on campaign expenses will pass by the public completely. But arguing that “it was all done by the rules” didn’t fare too well during the expenses scandal. Zac had no answer to the question, “Is this David Cameron’s new politics?” He had best improve: I doubt the Tory party image will benefit from Eton boys demanding apologies for imagined slights on TV.

I saw Snow doing a travelogue in Japan a few years ago. He stepped off the plane and clearly had no idea about Japanese culture. I had an office there for seven years and could have given him five minutes to get him somewhere in the game. For example, he had no idea that if you ask a direct question, in Japan, you will never get a straight ‘yes or no’ answer.

For example, he asked a few shop-keepers how business was going. They gave the standard Japanese reply – mama – meaning ‘so, so’ giving no indication one way or the other, as their culture would not permit them to claim either success or failure.

Snow the fool then did a piece to camera summarising what he was hearing, taking ‘so,so’ in the western sense, of not very good. It was laughable hearing him assessing the whole Japanese economy based on his total ignorance of what he was hearing.

His ignorance of invoice allocation in book-keeping meant that he couldn’t understand the points being made by Zac Goldsmith. As in Japan, he was totally out of his depth all over again, but much nastier and ruder than before.

And to think that this is the best that Chanel No 4 can put up!!!

Tory Zac Goldsmith admits he is a non-dom says:

ZAC GOLDSMITH, the green adviser to David Cameron and prospective Tory MP, has admitted that he claims non-domicile tax status, enabling him to avoid huge sums of tax on his estimated £200m fortune.

In a disclosure that risks embarrassing the Conservative party, he confirmed that he is a “non-dom” who can legitimately escape paying tax on his inheritance from his late father, Sir James Goldsmith. Much of it is held offshore.

This weekend Goldsmith, the Tory candidate for Richmond Park, told The Sunday Times that he plans to give up his non-dom status next year. The general election must be held by June.

The Tories have criticised non-doms for avoiding tax. George Osborne, the shadow chancellor, has pledged to impose a £25,000 annual levy on their wealth. Lord Ashcroft, the party’s biggest donor, is under pressure to confirm his tax status to comply with promises made when he took a peerage.
