Sadiq Khan Facing Met Fraud Investigation

This morning’s Times is reporting that the Met are considering an investigation into the Transport Minister for a very dodgy receipt. Khan had his expenses claim rejected for birthday cards after the Fees Office  told him in no uncertain terms that his claim was against the rules.

khan and coppersKhan’s printing company Public Impact, run by former Labour Party staffers, then sent another invoice which Khan submitted to the Fees office. Crucially this one did not identify the bill was for greetings cards, the Fees Office coughed up for it the following month.

This goes beyond sleaze and is borderline fraud, over to you Scotland Yard…

I assume your question to be rhetorical Engineer, but, if it is not, the answer is HMRC will deal with parliamentary fraudsters in a far more lenient fashion than a member of the public. This course of action only applies if they can’t find an excuse to take no action.

Following on from 19 it should be noted that the times report states that the Met Police
are “considering” an investigation. Looks like the chances of any action from anywhere is very unlikely.

Funny how Baroness Uddin wasn’t charged when the Tory Lord who had done the same scam – and to a lesser degree – was. One would think she was receiving special treatment – shurely shome mistake? I wonder who made the decision. hmm.

A visit from a couple of HMRC’s finest instigating an in depth analysis of your tax affairs for the last seven years. Would cause you at least 6 months of grief trying to prove what every credit to your bank account was for. You would probably have to hire a tax lawyer at great expense. Your business and personal life would be ground into the dust. And then the inspectors would retire on their gilt-edged pension paid for by you. Apart from that, nothing much. After all, we must be fair to all those people who need your taxes to support their lifestyle. It is the right thing to do………

I’ve mentioned this before on Guido’s blogs, but it bears repeating. The wife of a friend under-reported her income for ’08-09 by 42 pence. That’s forty-two whole pennies. She and her husband have been given the forensic treatment by the blood-suckers from the Revenue. The cost to them has been incalculable. It has cost the lady her health and put their relationship under strain. I wonder what it has/will cost the Revenue to claim their microgram of flesh?

I’ve only looked through his expenses for 2005/06 & during that year he claimed reimbursement for between 6 & 12 toner cartridges, some (or all?) enough to print 9,000 pages each. That sounds a lot for one person to use but how big was his office staff?

I’m less impressed with the £250/month petty cash claims in 2005/06 – since Khan reclaimed travel, phone, stationery, printing, computer software, office machinery & room booking expenses (amongst others), what else COULD he legitimately spend money on?

    New from the Illiberal Times.
There is some confirmation that President Zuma of South Africa has asked Mr Gordon Brown , the UK’s Prime Minister, to allow Mr Julius Malema, the ANC Youth Leader, to come to Britain for 3 months from the end of April to mentor Brown’s immigration ministers, civil servants, and UK’s London youth, on how to govern and behave in a modern democratic country.
President Zuma considers the answer urgent as the World Cup is near, and while the UK election will be on Mr Brown’s mind, he believes he could learn a lot from Mr Malema in forming an efficient Brownshirt movement.
Mr Brown is considering the proposal, and will set up a quango to research it as well as discuss it with his advisors in the closet cabinet and the BBC.

You can bet that the number of crooked minority politicians is far more than the average even in a crooked scumbags heaven like Westminster.
