      Brown's a Tosser says:

The news story of £18 million of taxpayers money gone to UNITE if correct is going to take some explaining even for the NuLabour spin machine. And then of course it goes back to NuLabour for their GE war chest. Priceless.

Cashcroft makes Hagues slaphead frown says:

£127 Million of Taxes Ashcroft didn’t have to pay since becoming a non dom Lord makes his world go round.
£5.1 Million to the Conservatives makes Dave’s eyes go round.

That sleazy dodgy sound is both Parties funded by clowns.

          • Doctor Mick says:

Seems he’s less generous with taxpayers’ money than is ol’ Charlie Whelan.

          • That's only what we know about so far. Cashcrofts libel Lawyers are busy bees right now. says:

you mean the training and education fund?
you’d have to ask the employers and their staff that use it whether they think it’s worth the money over the 12 years it’s been running. Though what the scrote Whelan has to do with the fund even the telegraph couldn’t enlighten us on.

I think it’s genius that CCHQ and Dave have decided to launch an all out venemous attack on an umbrella Union representing some 2 Million staff and workers, over a few days of possible action by those Militant Scargillite Trolley Dollies and Cabin crew, in the middle of a recession.

it’s not as if there will be people already worried about their jobs looking askance as Dave jumps in with both feet in his latest wheeze as a Union Buster from the 80′s looking for a fight with the UK’s workforce.

You’ve got to love this Conservative Campaign as it goes from strength to strength. One might almost be forgiven for thinking Hilton and Coulson were deliberately okaying each others worst ideas in an effort to sabotage each other.

          • Susie says:

If people are that worried about their jobs (and they should be with BA making a £400 million loss last year) they should cross the picket line and work.

          • B.A. Baracus says:

there are no busloads of riot police ready for a running battle
you will find no miners and militants chanting maggie maggie maggie
it’s cabin crew and they voted to do this in overwhelming numbers
they know more about their own pay and conditions than most here
they will also know of B.A.’s parlous state because they work there
it will get worked out sooner or later in the talks and compromises will be made on both sides
there can’t be anyone on here dumb enough to think this has been the first strike to occur since 97 surely ?

          • Face_the_Truth_Man says:

Sounds awfully presumptuous that anybody with such high foreign earnings would simply wish to surrender a large chunk of them to an adverse political system. There are plenty of rich people in the world – but relatively few of them are resident in the UK thanks to its draconian tax system. As Thatcher once pointed out, the good Samaritan was able to help his poorer neighbour only because he was well off.
Labour, furthermore are merely a puppet party to their Trade Union paymasters.
            What would you prefer?
A private citizen who makes prudent tax choices and benefits the country….. or a supposedly elected government being steered by unelected bunch of union bully-boys with union-paid members actually working from within 10 Downing Street?

          • Choose between two Buckets of shit! ain't that the truth says:

            Most convincing.
Why it seems almost churlish to point out that between a quarter and a third of the entire UK workforce are in Unions while the amount of Lords bankrolling Political Parties from Belize may be somewhat less.
Regardless they are both in the wrong.

I want the Unions to stop funding Political Parties and I want non doms and other shady individuals to stop bankrolling them too.

Until that happens you will get no sympathy from the UK voter about who has the most attractive bucket of shit to use as a cash machine.

          • A view in time says:

Communists by nature don’t understand how the world actually works.

Alot of rich, middle class, poor people have a natural drive to get up and go out and make something of themselves and get what they want.

A communist generally has no drive and instead of going out to get what they want, expect it to be delivered to them by others.

They are stuck in an 1800′s mindset of the world and think people can not just get up and leave them to it when they start predictably trying to control everyone like a feudal lord and then they wonder why all the money runs out.

The ideology is just pure stagnation and they only realise it once all the hard up taxpayers do one to make a better life for themselves while the communists are left behind like maggots on a carcass.

They never understand that every country in the world welcomes and wants the hard workers and dutiful taxpayers with a nice sum of money in their bank account to come and immigrate over to them, that is how countries improve their position in the world. They don’t want the gimme gimme gimme mindset out to grab everything they can for free without working a day to pay for it.

          • time for mindless pejoratives from the 50's says:

Seriously ? COMMUNISTS! That’s all you have in the tank ?
            Poor deluded old codger.
I pity you and your stunted sloganeering which reveals a complete lack of any rational thought process and reasoning ability.

The Communist Party in Britain gets far less votes than even the Monster Raving Looney Party and quite rightly so. McCarthy is dead. Take your braindead irrelevant twaddle somewhere it’s remotely relevant.

            It’s 2010 not 1950. Wakey wakey.

          • Vote Dave get Gordon says:

Welcome to NWO puppet, communist Daves new political oppression!

“Any good headteacher would not have a member of the BMP within a hundred miles of a school. They should be able to fire someone for that reason.”

Dave is listed as a member and supporter of the extreme left wing terrorist group the UAF.

and another person you may like to know uses political oppression through censorship is Guido the states blogger!

          • Vote Dave get Gordon says:

Dave can’t let democracy be and the people left to choose, he has his NWO masters to keep happy or they won’t let him play in the politics pantomime show they put on for the sheeple every 4 years or so.

Porkbusters for the many not the few says:

If it’s not being used for training and education then it’s not just outragous but probably illegal or at least false accounting.
So it has to be accounted for and the reports reveiewed.

Course if it’s being used by businesses then they would know if their workforce and staff have used it too.

The Conservatives can decide whether they want this Union Learning Fund to now cease. If they do it’s easy enough for them to say so.

          Cooper says:

For in house training of the Unions own staff I might agree. For business training their workforce in partnership with the Unions I wouldn’t.

But the detail is down to the business Minister to clarify and no doubt the Conservative shadow can tell us if he’s appalled enough to stop it.

          • Hugh Janus says:

“…and no doubt the Conservative shadow can tell us if he’s appalled enough to stop it.”

What’s also outrageous is the Daily Telegraph running a story that Brenda Dean was shocked by the Ashcroft story. That’s Brenda Dean formerly Gen. Sec. of SOGAT who morphed into Amicus and are now part of UNITE. These wankers think we have the memory of a fruit fly. Fortunately some of us remember the last time these gangsters tried to run the country through their labour puppets.

          Hugh Janus says:

She knows a lot about public money – she’s drawn enough of it over the years.

          • Indeed she does – from this very blog, 13th Dec 2005:

Baroness Dean of Thornton-le-Fylde (the former trade union leader Brenda Dean) received ₤57,944 in overnight subsistence payments between 2001 -05 after claiming her main home was a waterfront pad in Falmouth while the £900,000 Islington town house she shares with her husband, former CBI press chief, Keith McDowall, was merely their second home.

So paying tax where the income is earned is ‘shocking’ to a woman who is prepared to claim that her main residence is her holiday home.

You couldn’t make it up – indeed, these days you don’t need to.

      Apathetically yours says:

      O/T but BBC relevant

Watched programme last night on BBC2 entitled “People’s Politician” which primarily featured Richard Caborn and Ann Widdecombe.
The “Beeb” guy Tim Samuels was helping “Widders” to re-connect with the electorate primarily under 25 ‘s who were totally apathetic and did not see the point in voting. The “Beeb” set up website for “Widders” for her constituents to contact her with their concerns etc.The final result after months of publicity was exactly 4 petitions signed by 4 people. Two votes regarding the Afhanistan War 1 for immediate pull out and 1 for pull out in 12 months and then the burning topic — The Equality Bill…. massive response of 2 votes 1 for and 1 against.

Meanwhile in Sheffield ex union convenor and Sports Minister Richard Caborn was confident(although we had just seen a piece where he failed spectacularly to score a goal in a five a side against a 75 year goal keeper after he confidently boasting beforehand of whacking a few past him so we were pre-warned ) that he could work the old magic on a group of uninterested(politically)apprentices.Needless to say he didn’t and they still said after his meeting they still wouldn’t vote. So he and Samuels adjourned in defeat to the local Labour club to drown their sorrows.

So the end result ? Apathy rules. Nobody trusts MPs and think they’re all crooks But did we need the taxpayers money to tell us that ?

    Fact Check says:

It is a function of their internet panel approach that YouGov isn’t able to pick up turnout factors to the same degree as other pollsters and they exclude it from their methods. However, traditional polls use widely differing methods to take account of turnout, and these produce equally varied corrections to the raw data. No consensus has emerged as to what, if any, correction has greatest validity.

Four weeks before the 2008 London mayoral elections, a YouGov poll placed Boris Johnson 13 points ahead of the incumbent Ken Livingstone. Livingstone’s campaign team branded the poll “fundamentally flawed”, arguing that it failed to take account of London’s larger ethnic minority population compared to the rest of the country, and saying that it would complain to the Market Research Council of Great Britain.Ipsos MORI and ICM polls put the candidates neck-and-neck. A subsequent poll was derided by Livingstone as “a transparent attempt by the Evening Standard/YouGov to give Boris Johnson a more credible lead”. However, Livingstone never made the official complaint that had been announced to the media, and in the event, YouGov’s final poll showing Johnson in the lead by six percentage points was the only accurate prediction.

Covert smears on David Cameron’s Conservatives are being made right across the state-owned network – sparking hundreds of viewers’ complaints.

News coverage, chat shows and even kids’ TV are guilty. We found:

        LABOUR panellists were given more time to speak on flagship political show Question Time;

A POLL on The One Show ignored issues with Gordon Brown to ask only, Is David Cameron too much of a toff to be PM?

“Critics claim the BBC may want to undermine the Tories for pledging to curb Corporation excesses.

Tory backbencher Douglas Carswell said: “The BBC is in the hands of a left-wing elite. They’re a privileged organisation run for the interests of the few not the many – which is why their views are closer to a broadcast version of the Guardian rather than a popular paper.”

Watchdog Mediawatch-UK director Vivienne Pattison stressed: “Under the BBC charter they are required to be neutral. It’s important – after all, we fund them.”

The BBC’s Lord Ashcroft coverage alone triggered 104 complaints.

When the row over his “non-dom” status broke three weeks ago it led the Beeb’s TV and radio bulletins for up to six days – long after commercial broadcasters dropped it.

But controversy over the similar status of up to eight Labour donors got just a fraction of the coverage.

One listener to Radio Four’s Feedback programme emailed: “You have fallen for Mandelson’s spin again.”

Total Union Modernisation Fund over 3yrs would have been met by a twenty pence a month increase on the average union member. If it were vital for the union to ‘modernise’, then fair enough…but out of its own resources.

If the unions make political donations to the party which provides the government which establishes the mechanism, then clearly, as money is fungible, it is being recycled under a pretext of ‘modernisation’ from the general Fund (Tax receipts) to the Labour Party at no net real cost to the unions.

    The truth about defence spending
Telegraph View: Gordon Brown wanted his Chilcot appearance to show that he had been generous to the Army. Instead, his error over figures is a gift to those who accuse him of depriving soldiers of equipment.

The truth about the defence budget under Labour – especially given the UK’s military commitments – is that it has been squeezed. With deep public spending cuts due to take effect after the election, hard choices will have to be made by whichever party is in office. But if we are sending soldiers overseas to fight on our behalf, it is essential the military has the funds to do so properly.

    BBC News gave disproportionate coverage to the row over Tory donor Lord Ashcroft’s tax status;

    LABOUR panellists were given more time to speak on flagship political show Question Time;

A POLL on The One Show ignored issues with Gordon Brown to ask only, Is David Cameron too much of a toff to be PM?

THE Tory leader was stitched up when footage of him adjusting his hair was sneakily fed to all broadcasters……………………….”

    Centre Parting says:

An Italian named Guido was relaxing in his favourite bar in Rome when he managed to attract a spectacular young blonde woman. Things progressed to the point where he led her back to his apartment and after some small talk, they retired to his bedroom, where he ‘rattled’ her senseless. After a pleasant interlude, he asked with a smile, ‘so you finish?’

    She paused and replied, ‘No’

Surprised, Guido reached for her and the lovemaking resumed. This time she thrashed about wildly and there were screams of passion. The lovemaking finally finished and Guido smiled and asked again, ‘You Finish?’

Again, after a short pause, she returned his smile, cuddles closer to him and softly said, ‘No’.

Stunned, but Dammed if he was going to leave this woman unsatisfied, Guido reached for the woman yet again. Using the last of his strength, he barely managed it, but they ended together screaming, bucking, clawing and ripping the bed sheets.

Exhausted, Guido fell on his back, gasping. Barely able to turn his head, he looked into her eyes, smiled and proudly asked again, ‘You Finish?’

Barely able to speak, the beautiful blonde whispered in his ear, ‘No I Swedish’.

QT last night was very interesting, coming from Manchester I thought that they would generally be sympathetic to Liebour.

I was surprised to hear their disdain and hate of the great leader.

Very surpried indeed, particularly with regard to the recent defence issue.

      Steve Expat says:

Brown’s Chilcott appearance is an absolute game-changer in working-class areas.

Everyone there knows someone in the ‘Stan, they know that the troops are under-equipped, as the lady on QT so eloquently put it last week in saying that her son was getting equipment from his family for his 18th birthday.

There were also the two George Crosses awarded yesterday to the bomb disposal unit – to the soldier who told Ainsworthless to his face that more troops were needed, and to one who unfortunately didn’t make it back – his humble, eloquent (and attractive) widow picking up the award on his behalf and being on almost every front page this morning as a result.

The narrative that Brown is a liar is now stuck on him and won’t go away, even the Labour heartlands are now having second thoughts about returning him for five more years – even if it means having the Tories back in…

        thanks for your comments Steve.

Did you see the father on there yesterday whose son has just returned from duty and again said that he was having to buy equipment?

As we know, a lot of the service personnel do come from deprived areas of the country, especially where there are no other jobs for them.

It is an absolute scandal that Brown had lied and every one is giving him the benefit of the doubt and won’t say that he lied. Brown has been chancellor and PM now for over 13 years. It is not credible that he didnt understand the defence budget figures. He hasn’t even had the decency to apologise.

If you have sons or daughters who have served or are still serving out there now, as just an ordinary punter, I dearly would love to thank you all for the sacrfices you make and especially if you have lost loved ones.

I am a coward and could never ever do what you do in a million years. Thank God we have courageous people like you.

Thank you all, you are all truly heroes.

It’s a shame we have to put up with those who play politics with these peoples lives.

It’s an even bigger shame some are intent on sending them into the slaughterhouse for another five years to play yet more politics with these peoples lives instead of getting the TROOPS OUT NOW.

How come the 1 or 2 years’ reduction in defence spending is really 4 years? Surely Gordon, the mastermind of finance, should know the precise number of years.

It was a reasonably well balanced ?Time. David Starkie was great! I could listen to more of him – telling it as it is.

Caroline Lucas was all muddled up and inconsistent, AND annoying – silly eyebrows.

Lansley ok, but ever so slightly boring.

            Kennedy fairly coherent, but

Margaret Beckett – does she really go around the world with that permanently supercilious half smile written all over her face?

Anon, it is indeed not credible that Brown didn’t know he had the figures wrong, but everyone is too polite to directly accuse the holder of such high office of being a liar.

Shows how much the office of PM has been debased by the current incumbent. Question Time last night showed what Labour’s ‘core vote’ demographics think of Gordon Brown, I hope they have the guts to give him the kicking he so richly deserves in 48 days’ time.

RIP 275 brave men and women, and may we look after those they have left behind. The interviews with Christine Schmit yesterday made so many cry with her strength and humility.

Unite, and the two unions that formed it, received the public money under two little-known funds to improve management and training for its members.

It has been the biggest beneficiary of one of the schemes, the Union Modernisation Fund, and received a sixth of all the money given out under the Union Learning Fund.

The figures have led to fresh claims that Britain’s biggest union has taken over the Labour Party after donating almost £30million over the past decade and employing a key adviser to Gordon Brown as its political director.

Brown spoke to the Foreign Press Association this morning. Not so many ‘varlues’ this time… quite a few ‘poo-rest’ and a ‘fizzle’ – ‘fizzle material’, in fact. Huh? What’s that? Sparklers?… OIC.. FISSILE! As I am laid up, and not really willing to listen to deeper meaning of El Gordo’s claptrap, I played that good old favourite: “Count the ‘glow-balls’.” Here is how to play ‘Glowball’… As you lie there, or for most of you sit or stand there, you shout ‘Hooray – 1′ when you hear ‘glow-ball’, ‘Hooray -2′ and so on. I got to ‘Hooray – 33′ this time before the Stalinist buffoon sat down. Cheered me up no end.
