Flashback 2007 : Brown “I Will Not Let You Down”

Gordon told us at his first Labour Party conference as leader in 2007:

So this is my pledge to the British people:

I will not let you down.

And I will always stand up for you.

He also said

it is because of the strength of the British economy that we are able to steer a path of low inflation, low interest rates and stable growth… with the longest uninterrupted period of economic growth in the history of our country.

Then the economy collapsed…

And the fat cnut who thinks that our troops are well resourced in far off lands, as several a week come back in wooden boxes.

Fuck you Brown, 8 weeks and counting…

          • Selling us out to Europe, lying about provding sufficient funds for our troops in two wars, one of which is illegal, you are right: Gordon should be hanged for treason.

Re. army funding and the ‘snatch’ landrover story – it’s worth popping over to the EUreferendum blog. [ Richard North is not a bloke to get his facts wrong, and he has form - e.g. he's dug up a lot of the shit about IPCC/Pachauri ]. It was not an issue of finance – it was a massive fuck up by the Army and MoD(PE). The Tories know it – but they would rather slag of Brown, irrespective of the facts.

          • Mr Ned says:

Anonymous, you are not seriously suggesting that Brown had nothing to do with the funding levels of the MOD are you?

I guess not, but then he was only the most powerful chancellor this country had for over 60 years, but I guess you are right, he had nothing to do with levels of budgets!

            FFS!

          • Anonymous says:

            Mr. Ned.

No. If you read my post, you will notice that I didn’t say that, did I ? The fact is that funding is not the only issue here. Responsibility and blame goes deeper and wider than Brown.

            1. There have been a lot of deaths in under-protected vehicles. From EUref

            - snatch no use, so replaced by vector at £200M. Which was so bad that it was withdrawn and replaced by … snatch !

            - bushmasters. Funding allocated, but not put deployed

            2. An old post of Michael Yon’s ( ex US special forces embedded journalist ) UK death due to bomb planted in entrance of compound – troops would rather go over the walls. But no ladder available, which was a frequent problem. They can’t organise themselves ladders ? As you say – FFS.

            Do go read.

2006, threatened to topple Blair and only gave up when he gave a commitment and a date to quit.

People knew the economic problems were coming – I remember Andrew Neil saying it when reporting from the Labour conference when it was thought that Brown might not gamble and do the election then, when in fact it was gambling it to not do it given the economic situation on the horizon.

Just Get On With It says:

The comparison with Churchill is absurd. Churchill spent years warning us of impending doom then took over to lead us out a crisis which was not of his making. Brown would listen to no one and spent years getting us into this doom laden situation and his only solution to get us out is to bankrupt the country.

When Brown was telling Robinson today that the deficit was necessary to get us thru the recession, might he not have asked if Brown regretted running a deficit in the boom years? Cameron might well be hopeless but the easy time given to a PM who has presided over the biggest economic disaster this country has seen is unbelievable.

    Clarence says:

If ever there were someone who is simply unequipped to be a prime minister, it is Gordon Brown. Today’s PMQs provided an insight into this man’s modus operandi.

When he was asked about defence funding by Cameron at PMQs, he responded with a jibe about Ashcroft. In the background, Labour toadies howled “Tory stooges” to describe senior officers who have dared to question Brown’s commitment to British soldiers.

That, to me, sums up that appalling creature in Number 10 and his wretched, dysfunctional piece of shit government. Hundreds of servicemen and hundreds of thousands of innocents have died in wars started by his government, yet he cannot muster an iota of statesmanship when asked to address legitimate concerns about the safety of troops. He prefers to yah boo about Ashcroft.

Tony Blair would at least have paid lip-service to the question; he would understand that millions of Britons are far more worried about these seemingly unending wars than some Westminster spat about who knew what about Ashcroft. He would have given an appropriate response.

With Brown, everything is reduced to partisan politics: he is petty, spiteful, hubristic, dishonest and biologically incapable of accepting blame for anything; he is driven by hatred and resentment, craves power for power’s sake and seeks to crush all dissenting opinion. As Guido points out, his is the politics of destruction.

I have no emotional attachment to any political party but I want nothing more than to see the back of him and his cabal of tax-funded bullyboys. I simply do not care who takes Brown’s place.

Never in my 40 years have I despised a politician as much I despise James Gordon Brown.

Apparently Dan Brown is soon to publish a new blockbuster novel called ‘The McCavity Code’, based on secret archives he has unearthed in the British Museum.

The plot line is, that after the ‘Battle of Culloden’ in 1746, the defeated chieftains of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s army, fled to a castle near Inverness and formed a society called ‘The Brotherhood of the Sporran’, their aim was to destroy the English crown by stealth, by infiltrating parliament, the military and the banks.

Their plans are coming to fruition after 250 years of plotting, key members of this most secret society are Gordon Brown (the Great Sporran), Alistair Darling, Michael Martin, Tom McKillop, Fred Goodwin, Menzies Campbell and many other Scots prominent in public life.

Brown says that Labour will make huge cuts in public spending without affecting front line services.

This means either that waste in the public sector under Labour has been positively gargantuan or that Labour is lying. Both are clear reasons not to re-elect them.

If it is possible to trim the public sector without affecting frontline services, I am absolutely positive that the Conservatives would do it. No political party causes pain for the sake of it. (Apart from Labour; the motives behind a lot of their actions appear to be solely vengeful in many cases).

It’s a scorched earth policy at the moment, has been for the last year or so; they’re doing it out of sheer spite.

They’ll be signing as many unnecessary pfi contracts with the worst terms possible as they can, and all that cost will be off the balance sheet and hidden so the tories won’t be able to know about them before the election.

The tories will then get into power, and find that in the few months leading up to the election, Brown deliberately put the uk tax payer in hock for about an extra half a trillion quid purely on new pfi contracts that weren’t even needed.

The get-out clauses drawn up will be such that if the tories wanted to cancel any of the mad schemes that Brown agreed to, the cost to get out of the contract will be double the value of the contract itself.

Cameron’ll be stuck with half a trillion quid of pointless contracts which he has no option but to pay.

The only way round it would be to somehow change the law so that the contracts can be breached without having to pay the full get-out costs, but I don’t think that’ll be legally possible because of the EU.

You’ll see pfi contracts like “we’ll pay you half a million quid to dig a 2 foot hole in a sandpit, and we’ll pay you a million every year to maintain that hole for the next 20 years. To get-out of the contract the government will agree to pay you 500million”, and there’s going to be a fuck of a lot of those around which’ll only see the light of day after the election.

The labour machine will be very very busy at the moment, trying to borrow/spend/print as much cash as physically possible. They’re in election mode, but on the sidelines their main task is to ruin the economy as much as possible but without people knowing about it until it’s too late.

When you say ‘stop the Casino mentality’, I imagine that you’re talking about Labour, with its amazing ability to believe that there really, really is a crock of Gold at every Rainbow’s End, that A Ponzi Scheme is morally repugnant and financially irresponsible – unless it is a Socialist Ponzi Scheme (“National Insurance” e.g.), that – like the most darling daughter in a rich family – there will always be someone else to pay the bill, square the Authorities, put off the Press…

Of course, the other thing which CMD should do is to immediately put all the PFI and PPP shite back on the balance sheet where it belongs, making a clean breast of things as it were. The Public Finance office and the ONS (not to mention the abortion which is Eurostat) have already said that this stuff should be in the nation’s accounts – adding them to the nation’s debt half way through a Tory government if forced to will bring cries of ‘this is what we left you, look where debt is now’ from the Oppo benches.

A job for Georgie-boy at the time of the budget which is supposed to take place within 90 days, I believe. Has the added advantage of showing the colossal waste of the last 13 years. Accountants will also be able to value the future costs (i.e. the state – we – often don’t even own the assets at the end of the contract) and add them to the current indebtedness. The rating agencies already know about PFI, so it won’t make things any worse than they already are. Might even score brownie points for un-Greek style accounting…

Technically I was telling the truth, you see? It’s just that you never understood what I was thinking in my own head but never said.”

Brown is a dirty, lying, two-faced c**t. says:

I hate Labour with a vengeance, a working class boy with aspirations and an education, everything they despise and detest.

The thought of another four years of this lying, gurning idiot is too much to bear. But why am I even worried ? Because our on ehope of ending this, the Conservative Party, is unable to score a goal in front of an open net week after week.

My mother in law is staying with me at the moment, in her 70′s, a lifeling Tory who is now considering voting for Brown.

I cannot control my rage. But why would she do that ? Because she has NO IDEA what she will get if she votes Tory. She thinks Brown is a disaster, but “you know where you stand with him”. WTF… There are thousands more like her, and when I discuss it, I see her point.

The c**t is made of Teflon, nothing sticks, yet here we go, this week, it’s all about Lord Ashcroft, and that’s all we hear about.

Chilcott ? Arms spending ? You could have wiped the floor…. another wasted chance.

And what does Dave do ? Jesus, he looked like a public schoolboy throwing a strop today, he should have KILLED Brown. What about their dodgy peers ? NOTHING….

Dave, George, gather round, listen here…

GROW SOME GONADS. GET YOUR MESSAGE OUT. START TELLING THE PEOPLE WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO. STOP WIMPING OUT. SHOW CHARACTER.

Jesus, what’s fucking wrong with you people, any more of this shit and I may not bother voting, I am just gonna convince myself it’s no longer worth it.

What she’ll get with Labour is probably a compulsory £20,000 demand for payment for her social care irrespective of whether you look after her or not or whether she uses the services or not and very likely a levy on her savings too as part of an increase to IHT rates. So I agree she definietely should now know where she stands with Labour but this just underlines the debacle of Hilton/Coulson’s team strategy to lose the election. Ladies such as her should be a definite Tory vote. The fact they aren’t tells us all we need to know about Tory strategy

Interesting.. my mother, who is also 70 and a lifelong Tory voter, certainly won’t vote Brown but isn’t going to vote Tory, either, because of Cameron’s “all female selection lists”, which she considers to be the same politically correct nonsense she’s had from Labour for 13 years, and because Cameron bottled his Lisbon Treaty referendum, just like Brown did.

My father, 76, a lifelong Conservative supporter hates Brown with a passion but won’t vote Conservative because of Cameron’s socialist and pro-EU tendencies.

I’m 42, voted Labour in 1997, voted Conservative in 2001 and 2005, won’t bother voting Tory this election because, according to Dave, I’m a “fruitcake, loony or closet-racist” for being anti-EU. OK, Dave. Fuck you. Fuck your whole party.

From an optimistic point of view, it’s possible that Liebour don’t actually have that much confidence that a blatant give-away budget will deliver an election for them. Any more than the ramping up of the “go with the big things – big government, big corporates – and be afraid of anything new or otherwise “unknown” rhetoric.

The ICO and this stupid Government seem fit to advertise all our property on line for any criminal action in a database. Around here we have stone stolen every day. They have just taken the roof off the water board pump house for the second time, but that is on a main road.

But the best bit is you have to give your full identity, IP address, email to a foreign server (not covered under any UK law) so that they can “review” your request to stop invading your privacy. So the people that want, and by our laws have a degree of privacy, must give away their details to a US company to maintain it!

Why have we a Data Protection Act that says public indexed databases of personal information are not allowed without the persons permission. A picture of a house gives the exact address (by tradition we have numbers on houses), by public registers, the identity of the occupant is likely to be discovered, by the items in the window the religion of the occupant can be determined. Did anyone ever vote, or even their MP vote to now allow sensitive personal information to be in a public database.

Ok, I see that, but why would I want to? More to the point, why would he want me to see it?

          Hmmmmmm.

Not sure if he’ll be straight in the house of lords, my bet is he’ll hot foot it (along with the likes of prescott) back to China or Russia – one of the two.

Cameron and team, then need to run an honest, middle of the road, non political campaign upon the dangers of communism !

This campaign against communism should be taken as seriously as the dangers of smoking.

Gordon Brown and his subversive attempt to take over the UK, should be held in the same light as Adolf Hitler and his destruction of Germany.

I am not joking. I also think that to make such a statement is…..middle of the road and pretty fair.

    Robbo says:

Guido, just a thought. You’ve expended huge amounts of time and energy heaping ordure and merde upon the head of Gordon Brown, and yet the opinion polls show that you and your minions haven’t convinced one member of the voting public. In fact the personalisation of politics that you have encouraged, by attacking Brown as a person instead of arguing the economic and political case openly and honestly, seems to have backfired and shown Brown to be quite a mensch, taking all the bile that you have thrown at him and yet doggedly perservering, until finally Blair’s prediction about the Cameron butterfly being floored by the great clunking fist is coming to pass.

    How does it feel?

    • 333

Guido will cope. Brown’s personal polling is below zero. Net-net people have a negative opinion of him, perhaps not as negative as Guido does..

If any one was in doubt about the itelligence of the British electorate then the latest poll findings confirm that they must all be gaga.

What person in their right mind(apart from loafers and immigrants) would want to see another 5 years of Big Brother Brown?

Britains standing in the world has sunk to new lows, the economy is once again the sick man of Europe.

Wake up Britain kick this lot out they have 13 years to get it right and have failed miserably on Education, Health and Crime.
The economy is their next target to destroy and they are doing a blinding job of it

Maybe if they really wanted to “decontaminate the Labour brand” with business people, they shouldn’t have totally buggered up the economy?
