Just wondering if Cameron’s Dell Boy then who would Brown be?

      George is Rodney the plonker

YouGov, which began polling after the 2001 election, has developed a reputation for accuracy. Its final Sunday Times poll in 2005 was precisely right, and it accurately predicted Boris Johnson’s victory in the 2008 London mayoral election and the results of last year’s Euro elections

        @Mr 2 point lead

Yet the bookies give a different view – and they stand to lose money if they get it wrong. Think it may be tight come polling day.

          Don't Panic! says:

Every Opinion Pollster stands to lose money if they are wrong.
And they don’t just make a quick buck after the Election.
They do polling for Political Parties, Corporations & Media throughout the year.

The Bookies stand to make loads of money whatever the result.
That’s why they are Bookies and not mug punters.
You can bet on everything from number of seats to turnout to the exact time the election result is called for one side or the other or a hung Parliament.
          The Bookie always wins.

        • 24
          Road_Hog says:

Bookies don’t work like that, they set their books so that the odds are always at least 110% of the book. Imagine a football match where both teams are absolutely even, the best odds that they’ll offer is Evens (50%) but they still cream the draw. But they wouldn’t offer Evens, they’d offer less and still put the draw money in their pocket. They don’t care who wins and they don’t set the odds for the winner, they set the odds where the money is going.

        • 133
          Hugh Janus says:

Boris also thinks that the bookies are the best guide. However, I think he’s finally lost it now that he regards that odious little gobshite Sion Simon as a ‘talent’:

few think it is gospell and the last word from the polls but it is a clear indication of how things are going and you can be certain even if it’s a few points off the news is not good

        malone says:

But is it just a coincidence that Peter Kellner the owner of YouGov is the husband of Lady Ashton, Gordon Brown’s newly appointed European foreign MInister, ex-CND treasurer? There is no doubting the political leanings in the Kellner/Ashton household and they now owe Gordon one?

Why have the unweighted YouGOv polls not shown such a dramatic change as the weighted ones? Maybe the pollsters just cannot believe that labour voters are switching.

Think that YOUGOV cannot afford to try and show bias? They will be working on the herd effect and the media political narrative and momentum that they might generate so that the poll movement can become self-fullfilling. Even if they are wrong, well that’s polling for you – an inaccurate science.

Have we yet been told why the YouGov poll showed a six-point lead in early editions of the Sunday Times which then mysteriously shrank to two in the later edition?

Cast Iron Cameron says in his speech, I’ll do fuck all. I love the EU, we need more green taxes and more immigration and multiculturalism.

      • 10
        Road Mong says:

Are you a complete moron, Road Hog?

How many times does Cameron have to say that the Conservatives will put a cap on immigration?! He even said it in his speech!

He says it in a sensitive, putting pressure on public services way because he knows that if he doesn’t, Labour will accuse him and the Tories of being racist!

        • 14

Yeah heard it all before, man of little words and even less action.

          • Ronnie McDonnie says:

“man of little words and even less action”

Less action? Um…could be because he’s not in power yet?

          • Road_Hog says:

Oh no, you’ve got some action, reneging on his cast iron guarantee and jumping on the green bandwagon for green taxes. Just don’t like what I see before he’s even got into power. It must be hard going, to be so close to NuLabour in the Polls when you’re up against Gordon Brown, FFS he should be a country mile ahead.

        • 16

PS Cameron Mong, how can he put a cap on it when at least half of it comes from the EU, the Conservatives have said they welcome Turkey’s entry to the EU and that they’ll be no referendum on it. How’s that going to help stop immigration you dull c.unt.

          • Britain and Turkey: a team says:

Who in Europe wants Turkey in the EU? Really, who?

German CDU/CSU campaign against it. The Austrian Government will veto it.

Who wants Turkey in the EU?

America, Britain (and some European socialists ie Spain, communists but they do it to pick up Turkish immigrant workers votes but cover themselves by saying it will take at least 15 years )

Britain is seen as the strongest supporter of Turkey.

          • Getting Turkey in the EU just before we decide to leave and join NAFTA would be a masterstroke – imagine how pissed off the Frogs and Krauts would be if we saddled them with a basket case prone to military interventions in politics, full of ambitious migrant workers who will go over and impregnate their unwashed mademoiselles and fat hairy Frauleins?

            Bring it on, I say!

          • Rufus Stone says:

Already got a turkey in the EU – it’s otherwise known as Gordon Brown’s Britain.

the eton boating not waving but drowning song says:

is it a jaunty eton cap worn at a rakish angle?

          • An Old Etonian says:

It’s a ‘scugger’, a cap with blue and black stripes. ‘Scugger’ is Etonian slang for an idle bastard, and this cap is the one you wear if you haven’t been awarded a different cap for doing anything else. Everyone who goes to Eton arrives with a ‘scugger’, and discovers that the whole point is to stop wearing it.

          • Bertie Wooster says:

Does that give them honorary membership of the Drones?

          • An Old Etonian says:

No, you have to do something to be a Drone. Even if it’s only droning.

          QWERTY says:

Sorry but road hog is spot on. Most immigration is from the EU these days and we can’t control that. Add into that that any halfwit from Pakistan, Iran etc that turns up here gets to stay regardless of his right to be here or not.

What the Tories need to do is to cut back on EU immigration by leaving the EU.

Only little loophole with that particular cunning policy con is that its a load of lies and evasion and perversion of the truth.
The so called cap is worthless when migrants simply have to come through the eurotrash gateway and they have automatic rights of entry, talk about morons!
Every eurotrash country is a gateway to the UK, the immigrants get papers from any EU shithole and they cannot be turned away from the UK. Families of immigrants and marriage accounts for another huge slice, look carefully at Daves immigration policy and it aint what they make it out to be at all, in fact the flow of useless third world scrounging no marks and criminals will increase under Dave so the next time you call someone a moron its better if you actually know WTF you are on about.

Cameron and his rainbow coalition against the turnip taliban dinosoars says:

“It was you who selected those candidates, so if we win that general election, instead of 18 women MPs on the Conservative side, there will be more than 60. And you’ve done something else, you have selected black and minority ethnic candidates, Christian, J-wish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, right across our country. Not in Labour seats, not in marginal seats, but in safe Conservative seats. And to people who say to me that this modernisation, that this change was just some sort of paint job, I would say this: think of the young black British boy, looking at Parliament, looking at Britain and thinking, “What’s my role? Do I belong? How am I going to get on?” He can look at the Tory party, yes, the Tory party, and he can see Kwasi Kwarteng, Sam Gyimah, Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, Shaun Bailey, Helen Grant and say, “They’ve got to the top of British politics, I belong here, and so can I”.

“And think about that young Muslim woman, living in Britain, wondering what her role is in modern Britain, who is able to switch on the television and watch, in primetime TV, on Question Time, as Sayeeda Warsi destroyed that ghastly piece of filth, Nick Griffin, and think yes, yes, I belong here, it’s my country too.

What was that, Cameron cooing while he patted Gove on the head for herding the Tory dinosaurs into the abattoir?
Nick Griffin’s record is impeccable compared with that of his detractors.
Given that this blog exists solely because there this no depth to which our current, foul Parliamentarians will not sink, that’s no great accolade; but anyone visiting Nick’s party website will see why he stands head and shoulders above all the old gang put together: yesterday’s men peddling a hopeless future.

          • Archer Karcher says:

            “Turnip taliban dinasoars”

Marvelous, insulting your own party faithful is a winning formula.

Keep it up, you appear determined to lose the coming election and lets face it, an election against the most useless, corrupt and arrogant government we have ever witnessed. You must be very proud, your rainbow coalition will go down as the only “opposition” that is more disliked than the useless government it “opposes”, some achievement.

Dismal Dave and his socialist ideals are as shite as the incumbent trash, you morons really don`t get it do you?

I wouldn’t put it past the gutless c-unt to go fascist and create a “national emergency” to avoid going to the polls. It’s what ZaNew Labour MPs, supporters and trolls on this blog would secretly like. They know that otherwise they’re gonna fucked at the election.

The PC brigade are dreading a Tory victory because they know the free ride their fanatical face-veil wearing, 7 year-old child starving, wife beating, female circumcising, honour killing Muslim pals have had under New Labour will be over. I can’t fucking wait for Cameron to become PM so we can stop this country from turning into a Sharia state. If Labour wins, we’ll see the transition to the Islamic Republic of Britainistan. Which is just what the trendy PC brigade want, even though they’d be among the first to be lined up and beheaded under a “peaceful” Islamic regime.

It’s sad to see Britain’s electoral system being so abused, and even sadder to see that people still hope and believe in it. People should realise that they are observing state control of the media and the delivering of an election result to order. Brown it will be.

The YouGov poll in the Sunputs the Tories on 49% with Labour trailing on 23% and the Lib Dems at 17%.

Labour Stands Up For The Poor Apparently says:

From The Guardian, that well known right-wing rag. Will you be mentioning this when you knock on voters’ doors, Labour activists?

Britain under Gordon Brown is a more unequal country than at any time since modern records began in the early 1960s, after the incomes of the poor fell and those of the rich rose in the three years after the 2005 general election.

Deprivation and inequality in the UK rose for a third successive year in 2007-08, according to data from the Department for Work and Pensions that prompted strong criticism from campaign groups for the government’s backsliding on its anti-poverty goals.

In a further blow, the government failed to make a dent in the number of children or pensioners living in poverty after big increases the previous year. Almost 17,000 more children in England are on free school meals this year compared with last, according to government data also published yesterday.

“We want to sell the country” was a very strange choice of words for cameron, because it can easily be taken the wrong way (ie “sell the country down the river”, or, as per the cartoon, flog things off cheap because our currency’s worthless)

Apart from that unfortunate choice of words, the rest of his speech seemed to me to be pretty good/positive.

It was a marked contrast to Brown’s speech, which had no real feeling to it at all and was purely about how to increase the size of the public sector and to fuck up the private sector as much as possible, and just reeling off loads of completely bogus/misleading/lying statistics.

Cameron’s speech was basically a plan about how to mend the country, and although he’s obviously a very slick salesman, I got the feeling from watching him that he actually meant what he said; it looked heartfelt/genuine to me; you could see it in his eyes.

I know that Blair feigned “sincere” but you could always see it was fake with blair, but with cameron it seemed more real (not all the time, but it was during this speech). In my view, Cameron’s either a much better salesman than Blair and can feign “sincere” better than anyone I’ve ever seen, or he actually meant it.

Brown’s speech was basically “it’s all fine, we’ll just spend more money, don’t worry, move along, debt, what debt? nothing to see here….vote for me because I’m a fucking genius.”

Cameron’s speech was genuinely rousing and very positive.

He’s a very good salesman, but, even so, given the choice between buying from Brown or buying from Cameron, I’d buy from Cameron any day of the week.

I’d rather buy from a slick pr man than from a lying evil bastard who’s willing to use his dead baby daughter for a few sympathy votes.

The only reason he would be crying on morgan, is at his own despair, frustration and anger.
