Mandy’s Porky

Mandy just told a press conference that “we’ve seen no evidence of bullying in Number 10.” He is on the attack and spinning away. Perhaps though he should have reconsidered his choice of words given the fact Tom Watson told the House in March 2009:

“I can confirm that in the period specified (2007-2009), there were fewer than five cases in the Department where staff were disciplined for bullying and harassment of colleagues. It would not be appropriate to provide a further breakdown.”

So there have been confirmed cases, while Gordon was PM, that were investigated. Sounds like evidence of bullying no?

Mandy says nobody in No10 would condone bullying. Thing is, bullies rarely recognise themselves as bullies, it’s hardly surprising they’d not condone bullying while at the same time carrying it out.

“thrust her face into [Mr Roberts] and screamed “Communicate!” very loudly and directly into his ear. Mr Roberts found this very painful and was profoundly shocked by her conduct.”

“From the moment Mr Roberts took up his post as General Manager, the Applicant did not attempt to hide the hostility she felt towards the new appointee. She was obstructive and unco-operative and made no attempt to work with Mr Roberts, who was new to the organisation. Sounds like evidence of bullying no? says:

Andy Coulson bullying case costs NoW £800,000

Tory leader David Cameron’s head of communications, Andy Coulson, is the subject of an embarrassing employment tribunal decision handed down in east London yesterday. It awarded £800,000 for unfair dismissal to a sports reporter who worked on the News of the World when Coulson was editor.

Matt Driscoll, a sports reporter who was sacked in 2007 while on long-term sick leave for stress-related depression, was found to have suffered from a culture of bullying for which Coulson (above, behind his former News International bosses Les Hinton and Rupert Murdoch) was held responsible. The award of £792,736 is believed to be the highest payout of its kind in media history.

Driscoll said afterwards: “Andy Coulson was at the heart of all of this. He should look at himself and decide if his actions in the course of the way I was treated were correct.

“If I were him, I would find it very hard to look in the mirror. I was subjected to unprecedented bullying and he did nothing to stop it, if anything he accelerated it. I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Driscoll claimed he was one of “the top 30 sports writers in the country” until he “came up against the venom of Andy Coulson”. He added: “It has taken an incredible amount of strength to take on the richest news group in the world and win. I don’t think anyone has ever done that before with the success that I have.”

        a) associate it with the Tories by implication is CMD’s spin meister is plain stupid -this took place at the News of the World. I believe Murdoch’s empire were favourite friends with New Labour at the time?
        b) inferring that someone with Tory links was doing it,so that somehow makes the score even, is worse.

If they claim bullying is wrong when Brown does it they don’t have a leg to stand on trying to excuse it for Coulson.
It’s either wrong or it’s fine. It can’t be both. And if Brown is a cun’t for doing it then so is Dave’s right hand man.
Hope Dave makes that clear before wading into this one even further.
          Next.

“inferring that someone with Tory links was doing it,so that somehow makes the score even, is worse”

What would be stupid is to pretend that Coulson was hired because he’s a fluffy bunny. He’s Cameron’s enforcer and was brought in because of his reputation not in spite of it. Dave wanted his Campbell and he got him in Coulson. I don’t give a fuck if you don’t like that fact but denying what he is is futile.
          Next.

“inferring that someone with Tory links was doing it,so that somehow makes the score even, is worse.”

Hardly, this isn’t about ‘score’ it’s about hypocrisy.

        Barnabas Scudamore says:

The fact that it has come to court is morally correct.

The fact that a punishment has been passed, is morally correct.

The fact that people have stood up, come forward and told the truth is morally correct.

I’m not particularly fond of either party (although I favour the tories only because Dave is related to Her Majesty the Queen), but, from a MORAL standpoint, Labour have totally lost it !

They use words such as equality and fairness.

Gordon uses the line “…it is right!” quite often.

He talks of a Moral compass.

        He talks of common values.

He talks about how his father never said a bad word about anyone.

So, we have the tory party person – who has been to court, has been punished according to the law,

        and

we have labour, who have know about these things, but just cover them up and smear.

Which party is then seen to be the champion of “doing the right thing”

Which party is then seen to be fair.

Even a highly educated scholar of Canvey Island University, would (I hope) be able to tell you.

          Stephen Milligan MP

“The discovery of his corpse in what was presumed to be a state of auto-erotic asphyxiation, combined with self-bondage and cross-dressing, led to a greater public awareness of auto-erotic asphyxiation and self-bondage and their risks.”

“A bizarre detail of his death, which was the subject of much comment and speculation at the time, was that he was found to have had an orange segment in his mouth at the time of his death.
At the time of his death he was engaged to Julie Kirkbride, now Conservative MP for Bromsgrove.”

“Milligan’s death significantly contributed to ending John Major’s “Back to Basics” policy initiative.”

” Most commentators reflected that the circumstances of the MP’s demise were a personal tragedy that unjustly overshadowed his achievements in life and his promising political career. Meanwhile, PM John Major branded the events and circumstances leading to Milligan’s death as being “rather sad”.”

          • jgm2 says:

Six hundred billion bailout? I thought it was more like a 20bn quid debt for equity swap.

          • Bank Bailout To Add up to £1.5 trillion to Public Debt says:

New estimates suggest the government’s recent bailout of RBS and Lloyds TSB will cost the tax payer up to £1.5 trillion.

The UK Government’s recent bailout of struggling financial giants Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds TSB looks set to add between £1 trillion and £1.5 trillion to national debt, figures out today have revealed.

More shocking still, this colossal intervention represents the equivalent of between 70% and 100% of Britain’s GDP (gross domestic product).

The data, released today by the Office of National Statistics, paints a sorry picture of the UK’s economy with public sector net debt already at a record high of £703.4billion, or 47.8% of GDP, in January

            http://www.money.co.uk/article/1002877-bank-bailout-to-add-up-to-1-5-trillion-to-public-debt.htm#ixzz0gHN3oGEB

I lowballed it to see if you would actually have the balls to quibble with the figure in your furious attempts to deny the Bankers had anything to do with fucking the Economy.

They self-evidently did and so did Brown.
Neither gets off the fucking hook.

          • jgm2 says:

You have fallen for the government/BBC deliberate conflation of the total amount of national debt so far (850bn quid) with the maximum total liability if the whole world goes to shit and every single property, share and anything else owned by the banks becomes worth zero (850bn quid).

This figure has been deliberately rigged by the government to give the impression that the entire national debt is due to the bank bailout rather than the governments economic idiocy. The total actual cost to the taxpayer of insuring this 850bn is reckoned to be of the order of 20bn quid – a massive amount certainly but a world away from the 850bn quid being wilfully used by Labour.

            http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/economics/article6144037.ece

Figure given in the article is 60bn but I have read figures of 20bn on BBC a few weeks/months ago but cannot find them now. Anyway the 850bn is a deliberate lie to fool the mathematically challenged.

            Don’t be taken in.

          • Goodwin's P.R. man says:

sorry but you have leapt off the grid into lala land

the bank bailout IS the Governments and more importantly Brown’s economic idiocy
The Banks were Bailed out and maximum, minumum or whatever eventual liability that money to save them from collapse was real and so is the debt figure which no Government would want

Your desperate attempts to completetly excuse any blame from the Bankers is baffling but completely futile
The public doesn’t believe it for a second and neither does Cameron or any other Party Leader
They still blame Brown too of course and quite right too, but the idea that blame for the economic catastrophe is a boolean variable that can only be Brown or Bankers but not both is, frankly, horseshit

    1) Brown’s bullying antics have been known about by a varying number of people for some time.
    2) Such a serious weakness leaves him vulnerable to pressure or outright political blackmail.
    3) By allowing the allegations to surface openly (rather than, for instance doing a Kelly with Rawnsley &/or anyone else) Brown is no longer susceptible to pressure. All of his current semi-loyal lieutenants are openly backing him in the MSM.
    4) The electorate (& more importantly, the MSM) have the memory of a goldfish. By the time the election does finally come around the bandwagon will have moved on, probably to something like ‘Labour will protect you from Tory Cuts’. Remember when Bliar was almost incoherent from public anger when Kelly died? When he offered to resign if he was found to have done anything wrong? Same old distorted Swiftian tactic of saying the thing that isn’t, while what is actually true is it is the Left who now profoundly believe that government is rightfully theirs. Its time to spin it all away…

if Gordon Brown is just “in a hurry” and John Prescott punching the public is just “John being John”. Then its all ok.

Hariett Harman having a u-turn on all women shortlists to get her hubby a safe seat is just “Equality for all. Including oppressed men”

Sir Alex Ferguson is “a little tetchy sometimes”
Amy Winehouse “enjoys the occasional tipple”
Frankie Boyle “Can be a tad blue”
Simon Cowell is ” sometimes curt”
Tiger Woods “might have looked fondly at another woman”

All this talk of bullying is taking the focus away from the main issue facing the country though – that Dave is posh, and therefore not to be trusted, while Gordon is a true ‘man of the people’ whose perfectly understandable irascibility makes him best fitted to lead this country into the ‘fairy future for all’ that lies just over the rainbow.

      P.S. Will that do, Peter?

    Fred says:

There’s a pattern of bullying by more than just Gordon Brown.

David Blunkett ran a reign of fear in various depts of which he was minister.

Prescott ran the Deputy PM’s office like a personal fiefdom, abusing staff and sexually exploiting at least one of them.

Liam Byrne treats staff with contempt and expects to be waited on hand and foot.

Charlie Whelan has questions to answer over his behaviour at Unite.

I fully commend the National Bullying Helpline’s chief executive Christine Pratt for going on record to confirm that somebody who had worked at No 10 Downing Street had contacted the charity about allegations of bullying.

If anything, what the last couple of days have shown is both how the Labour Party always try to do their best to both create smokescreens and try to destroy anyone who stands up to tell the truth on such matters.

When will this government ever start telling the truth about what has gone on since Brown became Prime Minister I ask?

After all, the list of candidates to work for the man was not entirely top draw recently was it so people must surely be asking why?

This is a matter that is deeply in the public interest and has to be got to the bottom of.

Everyone in life loses their rag at some point and Brown himself almost did such in an interview with Adam Boulton on Sky News recently put to be in denial just once again underlines why I believe the public continue to have such a vague lack of trust in politicians of all parties who fail to be straight.

How they dealt with bullies in the 1970's says:

Mandeslon has also stated that this allegation is “clearly politically motivated” I should like to knw what proof is there of this.Probably none. Even James Landale seems to doubt the turth of that statement.

It’s one thing to bully Cabinet Ministers;Labour Party officials;senior civil servants and the media but it is NOT acceptable to bully junior civil servants/typists many of which will be women and unable to answer back.

Many years ago in the 70′s when I was a junior working for a major clearing bank I worked for a particularly nasty piece of work who was manager of the branch. He had over the years driven many people to resign;mental breakdown etc.Head Office were fully aware but did nothing because he was a high performing manager delivering fantastic results. On one occasion he picked once too many times on a new girl who had just been transferred in to the area and was employed as his secretary.(The branch was in a mining area by the way)He had continually over the two weeks she had been at the branch picked on her standard of work, speed etc and reduced her to tears on numerous occasions. On this particular day, a Friday,he had been particularly loathsome and refused to allow her to leave at 5pm until she had finished all his typing for the day(even though last post had gone) and had ripped up one letter three times for some minor error. She eventually was allowed to leave at 6.00pm in some distress. I let her out,as I was on late door duty, and I saw her husband was sitting outside in his car waiting to collect her(He was a miner)Five minutes later the doorbell went and I looked out of the door spyhole and saw her husband on the doorstep so rather than open the door,it was after hours,I warned the Manager. “Humph I’ll sort it out,” he said and went and opened the door. “Are you Mr……?” said the girls’ husband “Yes” “And you’re the manager are you ?” “Yes” “And you’re the bastard that just made my wife cry ?” “Well hmmm….I suppose so but…” Without more ado the girls husband head-butted the manager who went down like a sack of spuds. “Well I’m the lass’ husband and if you talk to her like that again I’ll bloddy lather you ! Now you can call the feckin’ police if you want”. The manager whose nose was spouting blood said and did nothing he merely groaned an walked back into his office to cheering from the other bank clerks who were still in the branch. The girl never returned and the manager told colleagues that he’d stupidly run into a wall whilst playing squash although the grapevine soon put the true story around although nobody said anything to his face as far as I aware. I also left soon afterward to another branch on promotion but I regret that I heard from previous colleagues that the manager was still a bully although more circumspect. He eventually keeled over of a heart attack 2/3 years later (whilst in full spate berating some poor typist probably.)Not many colleagues came to his funeral and he wasn’t missed.

Fair enough, but it’s hard to see them renting an office, paying business rates, installing a couple of phone lines etc for £852, even if all their staff are volunteers.

        Something smells fishy.

        • 350
          Engineer says:

Don’t think so. Many charities are exempt from business rates, and can negotiate peppercorn rents. The art of scrounging is not dead amongst charitable organisations, so such things as desks and phones can be aquired for nothing.

Most smaller charities operate along these lines, mostly because they have to. The big-spending charities only employ people because they have adequate funds, and a higher workload than volunteers can cope with.

          • DisgustedOfMitcham2 says:

Hadn’t realised about the business rates. Actually charities aren’t exempt, but they only pay 20% of what the rest of us pay. Well, maybe you’re right. If they get their office rent free, pay only 20% of their business rates, and have scrounged their furniture, maybe the sums add up. Even so, I can’t help thinking that their phone rental alone would cost the best part of £852 per year if they are running a phone helpline.

Mind you, it’s probably all a bit of an irrelevance anyway. The important point is that Gordon Brown is a disgusting bully and is not fit to run the country. Even if there is something slightly dodgy about one of the people who is telling us about Brown’s bullying, it shouldn’t detract from the message.

Some things are just too important to be passive about.

I’ve been threatened at work by my bosses before, and I didn’t let it stand; I went further up the chain and nailed the situation dead in its tracks. I went further up the chain to report the problem, and then used the line to the offending boss of:
Try firing me if you want, but you know I’m in the right and that I’m being reasonable, and I’ve got about 20 witnesses. So if you fire me you’re in a whole world of shit. You’re lucky I’m only keeping it within the company. Count your lucky stars and do what I say. End of story.

    5) Mrs Pratt used to own a copy of Thatcher’s The Downing Street Years;

“One of the things that is really important for any helpline or any counselling service is to retain confidentiality of the people calling up.”

      Widdecombe was correct.

Pratt said of Brown “We are not suggesting he is a bully.”

Coulson is a bully and the N.O.W. had to pay £800,000 because of it so you can hardly pretend otherwise.

    Forgive me but ............. says:

Lest we forget, here’s an article from 2006 from the Mail on Sunday which shows Mr Prescott’s unique way of bullying his staff. Still, at least he didn’t throw any Nokias. Or keyboards.

JOHN PRESCOTT relentlessly pursued his Civil Service secretary from the very first day she began working for him, The Mail on Sunday can reveal. New extracts from diaries kept by Tracey Temple disclose how Mr Prescott repeatedly made advances towards her, despite her attempts to rebuff him, and how he even flirted with her in front of Ministerial colleagues. She describes in detail how the Deputy Prime Minister was ‘eyeing her up’ when they met for the first time the day after Labour’s 2001 General Election victory.

And just five days later she confessed she felt uncomfortable about the way Mr Prescott continually looked at her. The diary entries, published today in The Mail on Sunday, reveal how, after months of ogling, Mr Prescott attempted to force her on to the bed of his luxurious grace-and-favour London flat.

She had gone there along with Joe Irvin, Mr Prescott’s then special adviser, as Mr Prescott was supposed to be working on a crucial speech to be delivered at the Labour Party conference. But as soon as Mr Irvin left, the Deputy Prime Minister made his move.

The diaries detail how Mr Prescott intimately touched his £26,000 a-year secretary as they sat in the back of his chauffeur-driven Government Jaguar and how he enjoyed ‘dirty’ conversations while she sat at her Whitehall desk…

…Legal experts said last night that had Ms Temple chosen to make a formal complaint about the Deputy Prime Minister’s approaches, they would have amounted to sexual harassment. This can constitute any form of unwelcome sexual advance in an office or workplace and includes unwelcome joking, leering and making inappropriate comments as well as physical advances.
Until 2001, the onus was upon individuals bringing actions to prove that they were harassed.
But then new regulations introduced by Labour shifted the burden of proof. Employers are now required to demonstrate that the actions did not constitute sexual harassment.

So, no more lectures on bullying please, Mr Prescott.

Could be this is is part of the sympathy vote strategy concocted by Mandy ( former PR man) ? First we had the ‘end of the Piers show’ and knowing the Observer was to publish Rawnsleys (?) tome, using this as a diversion from bouts of comment on alleged Nokia abuse and “Sharpie” marker tagging or jabbing in the PMs’ new motor (owned by us..) Seriously perhaps the Prime Minister as a condition for re-election (and all prosepective MP’s etc|) should undergo a full medical examination to see if he is physically and mentally fit for the post. Exactly the same type of examination anyone being offered a senior role in industry is required to go through before the appointment is confirmed. An easy indicator is to examine the state of Gordons nails, if they are all bitten down to the cuticle, then he is clearly stressed and not the ideal person to run two wars (Falklands may soon be back in play). As to the telephone ring round by the bully help line, possibly mandy was banking on that organisation not being able to comment on grounds of confidentiality. Well that backfired and the very public loss of the Patron is no big deal.

    From Toenails blog:

“As a result, the public has heard a good deal more about a pretty open secret in Westminster – the fact that their prime minister has a ferocious temper which some find very uncomfortable to deal with.”

So why didn’t he report it? Also see Dale:

“Why Won’t the Lobby Expose Mandelson’s Duplicity?”

Why indeed? What is wrong with these people?

Thank goodness for Guido and Dale.

The issue is not whether Mrs Pratt has acted unprofessionally, the issue is whether the PM is a bully and a liar.

Well… at least Blair told the truth once in his miserable life. He did warn us of
    Brown’s “deep psychological flaws”.

Blairs take is a shade different from the spin being applied presently by the disgusting Lady Mandelscum.

Mandy also said bullying wasn’t tolerated anywhere in Government. What about in his own department when Shriti Vadera was a minister there?

Brown IS A Cowardly BULLY says:

Mandy is a HAS-BEEN ! No one believes a word that comes from his snakelike gob !

As for Brown… if I worked in 10 Dowing Street I just smack the fuckwit in the face so hard that he ends up with a black glass-eye.

My dad always said… the best way to deal with a bully is to kick the shit out of them, because really they are cowards !

    All bullies are cowards.
It is well known that Brown is a coward hiding away when the going gets tough.
It would be wonderful for someone in #10 to face him down and tell him the time of day. But I suppose like all bullies he employs key rotweiller management in #10 who ensure that courage is not a quality they seek in employing staff, and certainly not one they wish them to display.

Guido chuckled at the following exchange he had with a Tory insider:

Tory: “What’s Labour’s position on the Syria crisis?”

GF: They say you should be talking to Russia.”

Tory: “Labour have been saying that since 1945.”

DisgustedOfMitcham2 says:

Maybe if they really wanted to “decontaminate the Labour brand” with business people, they shouldn’t have totally buggered up the economy?

Just a thought.
