Osborne on Sky : What About Lord Paul?

Earlier last week Guido highlighted Lord Swarj Paul and promised he would be returning to the subject. Osborne was on Sky News this morning and was pushed over Lord Ashcroft’s tax status. Osborne eventually retorted that Labour politicians were never questioned about Lord Paul.

Lord Paul provided some 20% of the funding for Gordon’s leadership campaign and the billionaire has promised “that if there is an election and the money is wanted, whatever I can pay I will. I am a believer in Gordon Brown and his leadership..”.  When Labour supporters discover how Lord Paul made his fortune they will be dismayed…

UPDATE : Guido has been needling that friend of the workers, Kevin Maguire, on this issue.*  Our Kev never misses a chance to have a go at Lord Ashcroft, yet has been silent about Lord Paul.   He has just tweeted that “Lab[our] shouldn’t take his dosh”.  Progress. Perhaps he has now had a look into Lord Paul himself…

*Before anyone asks, Guido has long said Ashcroft should come clean.  See herehere and here.

Why do you think we have spent nearly thirteen years in ‘government’ creating the Karen Matthews Cohort of semi-lobotomised Labour supporters ?

They’re now scared shitless that if they don’t vote for us there will be less benefits.

In case you hadn’t noticed, we also imported a few million economic migrants as well who will vote for us.

Oh, and for good measure we stuck another million into public sector non-jobs.

I’ve lived though 1979, where everyone claimed ‘never again’ I’ve lived through 1997, knowing what was coming but no one believed me, I don’t want to see it happen again in my lifetime but if there is one constant in life it is the predictability and mass stupidity of humans.

I’m one of the first to slate Mad Nads for being fucking useless and whilst she was (or maybe still is I guess) a nurse, the claims of a couple of chavettes are somewhat questionable. Perhaps Mad Nads suggested that they see their GP and neck fucking loads of Mogadon but I doubt she was supplementing her heady expenses with a bit of dealing on the side. She may be a shite MP but to suppose that she was/is nothing but a dedicated nurse is without all merit. Plus, in the Mirror?

          • Mad Nads Drug Pusher says:

Cameron and Brown are making it increasingly difficult to tell the difference between them, on more and more negative things. From this Ashcroft/Paul thing to the disgusting exploitation of their own dead children for political advantage as this latest news report shows:

Neither of them deserve our votes.

        • 164

The polls are wrong. They just do not account for the Forces vote, and their families. Or the overseas vote. That will be very biased against the sitting Government. Unless of course Royal Mail lose all those postal votes?

          • George 'Anal Beads' Osbourne says:

the Polls were right in 2005 where there were the same expats and forces votes

even demographic changes which hugely disadvantage the Conservatives will in all likelyhood be minimal

          • The Polls were not right. They were quite inaccurate actually in the 2 months prior to the GE. The eve of Election polls were bracketed 5% either side. Not very accurate really.

          • I have already voted - with my feet says:

We have in excess of 200,000 people over here in NZ and Oz able to vote in the UK elections. With the clarity of distance most of us can see what the latest Marxist inspired antics of Nu labour have done to the UK – and are saddened by it. I can’t wait to help vote the bastards out.

          • Call me Infidel says:

How many ex pats in Oz and NZ plus Canada will get off their arses to vote though? There will probably be a higher turnout from these people than the muppets in England, let alone Scotchland, but even so 200,000 spread around numerous constituencies doesn’t account for much I’m afraid. Nevertheless I will do my bit to vote against Brownstainovich having also voted with my feet previously.

          • Ready Reckoner says:

Overall five of the six big polls gave an accurate result within their margin of error before the 2005 election

Taking the average of all six, the share of the vote for Labour was 37.6% (actual share 36%), Conservatives 32% (33%) and Lib Dems 22.6% (23%)

The excuse that Marshall gave re not asking Miliband about Lord Paul’s tax status (ie that Miliband was there in his role as Foreign Secretary) was lamentable. Any Conservative MP on any political programme seems to be asked the question about Ashcroft despite it not having any relevance to the topic they are there to discuss.

          MINE-FIELD says:

Why do our government persist in calling mines I.E.Ds?
Afghanistan is the biggest motherfucking mine-field in the world.
I suppose the reason the New Labour party calls them I.E.D.s is because as we have so few H.E.L.I.C.O.P.T.E.R.S due to Gordon Brown cutting the H.E.L.I.C.O.P.T.E.R budget, by sending our troops into the biggest mine-field in the world Mr Brown is B.A.S.I.C.A.L.L.Y sending our soldiers on a S.U.I.C.I.D.E M.I.S.S.I.O.N. So Brown and Ainsworth C.U.N.T.S are using acronyms and semantics to confuse people and to hide their own criminal negligence regarding the Labour party’s deployment of British troops.

          • Airey Belvoir says:

The clue is in the name; Improvised. IED’s are bespoke, not factory-made like mines. All a bit different, more of a challenge for the brave people who have to deal with them.

So they make them from stuff they buy at B&Q, do they?
They blow up our troops in exactly the same way as mines, so what is the difference?
            None.
The fact remains that Afghanistan is the biggest mine-field in the world and we are sending our troops there with insufficient helicopter support.
And what exactly is your point?
Do you like sending our troops to their deaths for no reason, like Gordon? It sounds like it.

    Swaraj Paul hmmm?

Swaraj is a term usually bestowed upon a leader by followers who respect them. It is sometimes adopted as a title, undeservedly, by a con-man who wants to appear respected when they are not.

Swaraj was a term coined by Mahatma Gandhi to describe a person who has climbed to the pinnacle of honesty and who serves their community , putting others before themselves.

To the Mahatma it meant the opposite of the survival of the fittest or each man for himself.

If this Paul chap really regards hiself worthy of the title of Swaraj what is he doing in the self-serving labour party ? and what is he doing robbing the taxpayer of expenses to which he isn’t entitled??

why? ‘smell’ is the absolute test question for any parent/grandparent charged with raising a disabled child.

Why? may be the question we ask at birth – during the initial shock. But the How? question follows very closely on within hours from that. Take my word for it – I’ve been there and so have thousands of other parents who are also closely watching gordon’s interview tonight!

There is no place in the raising of a disabled child for a self-pitying adult . The How? question is the only one that matters . Any parent who continues to ask Why? year on year, is failing the child they are supposed to be loving and nurturing.

A disabled child, capable of understanding as they grow older, that a parent has asked on prime time trash tv , ‘why have I been burdened with this child and its disability’, is inevitably damaged by that revelation. As pressure on the pound continued, the government approached the IMF for a loan of $3.9 billion in September 1976. This was the largest amount ever requested of the Fund, which needed to seek additional funds from the US and Germany. The IMF negotiators demanded heavy cuts in public expenditure and the budget deficit as a precondition for the loan. Healey’s proposals for a cut of around 20 per cent in the budget deficit were hotly debated in Cabinet, particularly by Anthony Crosland and Michael Foot. Eventually they acceded, as it seemed likely that the refusal of the loan would be followed by a disastrous run on the pound. Healey announced the forthcoming reductions in public expenditure to the House of Commons on 15 December 1976.

JP Morgan, said that in “many” ways “the UK’s fiscal position is currently worse than observed around the IMF loan in 1976”.

The bank warns that Government debts, when compared to the total size of the economy, are higher than during the 1970s crisis.

It adds that there could be a “marked fall” in the value of the pound as international investors re-assess the health of the British economy.

The British crown (currently in possesion of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II) has been around a lot longer. It is more established.

      Ruth Kelly's plaything says:

Interesting point. The British Crown evolved out of monarchical systems whose origins are lost in the mists of time. The one thing to be said about all monarchies is that they do seem to be the natural way of ordering a nation – otherwise they would have been replaced by something better in the days before Babylon.

The model of organisation that most closely resembles a monarchy, the armed forces, continues to work effectively.

The big mistake, IMHO, was the Enlightenment and its spawn, the French Revolution, which planted the idea that rationally-created systems could be superior to gradually-evolving monarchies. Ever since, we have been living with a series of undesirable outcomes, from Hitler to Pol Pot via Stalin, not to mention NuLab’s attempts to re-engineer the UK population by importing large numbers of NuLab-voting Asians.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/profile-swraj-paul-the-peer-for-all-parties-1311327.html

Paul’s views have not necessarily run along party political lines. He has been a member of the Labour party since the early 1970s, and has a long-standing friendship with Michael Foot. He was also close to Indira Gandhi and architect of the country’s socialist economy. But in the recent past he was better known as an admirer and close confidant of Margaret Thatcher, and was a donor to the Conservative party in the 1980s.

But according to Paul, that is all behind him now. “Thatcher’s first three or four years were marvellous, but I don’t agree with some of the things she did later on.” He is now closer to Labour leader Tony Blair, and is also known to be a friend of shadow Chancellor Gordon Brown. He has become one of Labour’s larger corporate donors, giving the party around pounds 130,000 in the past two years. Such largess may embarrass some senior figures in the party, but Paul think it’s money well spent.

    Glenn Beck- Fox News says:

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,585548,00.html

This ‘guy’ is well worth listening to -Trouble is when you apply the clarity to the UK you might well form the opinion that Labour are bad/mad and have clearly been using evolution rather than revolution to chase their Marxist agenda – fully backed up by way of the EU who also have the same goals.

Turning to the Conservatives they have been hamstrung by Europe and seem to have been infested with ‘diet’ socialists who are, and I fear will be, incapable of making the tough choices needed to extract us from the slippery road to this la la land socialist dream.

Think of it this way; our elected, and in the case of europe, unelected leaders are spending and borrowing trillions trying to save their ‘Marxist/Socialist TITANIC’ as it charges full steam ahead into uncharted waters trying to find this fantasy Socialist land.

The bloody thing is sinking, its already holed below the waterline and there are even more Very large icebergs waiting in its path, but rather than accept the reality our great leader and his motley crew are still up on the bridge shouting faster faster rather than accepting that their ‘dream boat’ is sinking.

Surely now is the time for cool heads, logic and a large dose of common sense? Its sinking and its doomed so now surely it is the time to get off? We, the passengers with a good view if you will, can see that it is doomed and we have been shouting at ‘Captain Brown’ and his crew to slow down and reverse course but, of course, we have been out voted by all those below deck who have been given free passage, false promises and lots of support staff to keep them away from the truth.

Now Captain Dave is offering to take over the bridge and save us – Now captain Brown may only have one eye but, Dave, “there are none so blind as those who will not see” – Yes we need you to take over but you and your crew need to both accept and understand that we are aboard the NuLabour Titanic, its sinking and it is on a doomed course trying to find a Socialist dream land.

Its time to let the Damn thing sink into cold deep water as you and your crew find us ‘lifeboats’ and then get us aboard a new Ship of state – Save the people Dave not the stinking socialist dream boat.

Oh! and if you do take over you might think again about your intention to let the new owners of the Socialist Titanic – Yes the EU ‘White funnel line’ – being in a position to set your course and control your crew.

Surely you can understand that they will want you to try and keep their dream afloat?

Surely you can see that they will want you to take the lifeboats and life jackets away from your British passengers and give them to the Greek, Spanish and other sundry socialist boats that are also sinking?

For if the fog were to clear Dave you would see that its not just the British Titanic sinking its the whole European Socialist Armada! the whole project is doomed – Its time to abandon ship and save the passengers – while we still can.

        Glenn Beck- Fox News says:

Its a pity that the great British public do not have a home grown Glenn Beck with access to a TV channel ‘outing’ the latest antics, spin and downright Marxist lies with a very healthy free market attitude. The BBC and its selected staff are clearly on board with the socialist project and Sky is not providing the balance needed.

To anyone wanting to make a real difference to UK politics there is only one decision – Barrett Model 8281 .416 cal or Barrett M95 .500 cal?

A dozen rifles of either calibre imported into the UK would improve the attitudes of our politicians enormously – the Police can never totally clear a radius of 2500 metres from any public engagement, and the knowledge that they were vulnerable would do wonders for politicians’ listening skills.

Incidently, there’s some (unofficial) film of one of them in action being passed around the US forces.
It shows one of them being used to take out snipers in Afghanistan at a range that is unbelievable. The round used is huge (50 cal) – the Taliban snipers just explode.

A faltering David Cameron yesterday said he regretted not taking more time off to recover from the death last year of his six-year-old disabled son Iv*n.
His candid comments came in a television interview strikingly similar in tone and style to Gordon Brown’s tearful appearance on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, to be broadcast tonight.
In response to questions about Mr Brown’s grief-stricken demeanour, he welled up when asked when he had last cried.

Andrew Pierce on Ed Balls…

“Porky Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls sweet-talked guests at a fund-raising dinner by saying if he wasn’t a politician, he would be a chef. That’s not surprising, since he was accused of cooking the Treasury books when he was Gordon Brown’s boot boy.”
