Tories Rattled By Covert Lib Dem Sniffing

This email has been forwarded to Guido’s inbox this morning. CCHQ have put their campaigners on alert to a potential Lib Dem line of attack:

From: Mackintosh, David
Sent: 05 February 2010 09:46
To: All Battleground Directors; All Campaign Directors; All Regional Directors; All Regional Press Officers
Subject: PPCs who are councillors
Importance: High

Dear all,

For your information – I have received a number of e-mails regarding Freedom of Information requests submitted to councils requesting information on our councillors’ expenses where the councillor is also our PPC. The requests come from Tom Smithard who is based at Lib Dem HQ in Cowley Street. He is using a Googlemail account to request these and is using his private address and mobile number (xx Bxxxxx Axxxxx, Cxxxxxxx, Surrey SMX XXX / 07xxx xxx xxx)

Please let me know if you know of any instances where this has happened. Thanks to everyone who has already alerted me.

David

Tom Smithard (pictured) is Cowley Street’s grandly titled Parliamentary Campaigns & Intelligence Analyst and it seems he has rattled the Tories. The holier than now Liberals are attempting to drag candidates into the expenses scandal before they are even MPs. Doing it covertly through personal email addresses even though an FOI request is an FOI request wherever it comes from.

Cowley Street better hope CCHQ don’t retaliate with some FOI requests concerning their PPCs and intriguing leaflet printing financing.

        Penfold says:

The following sums up the Lib-Dems:-

“”A bogus international bonds dealer who donated £2.4m to the Liberal Democrats has been found guilty of stealing more than £30m from clients.

Southwark Crown Court heard Michael Brown defrauded £36m, including £8m from former Manchester Utd chairman Martin Edwards.

He was tried in his absence after skipping bail and is still on the run.

Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg said the party had done all the necessary checks and was “totally unaware” of the fraud. “”

Needless to say CleggyBoy has not seen fit to repay the stolen monies.

Ditherer brown has rightly been pilloried for the havoc he has wrought on our beleaguered economy but he deserves “credit” in one area.

We know he failed to finance bliar’s Iraq adventure. We know he withheld funds from the armed forces much to the annoyance of bliar and the detriment of our boys and girls.

But at least we are lucky he stood against bliar’s attempts to take us into the disaster that is the Euro!

Back on topic, Guido has already pointed out St. Teather’s use of expenses to fund their party! Why are CCHQ sitting ontheir hands!!!

Why are they bothering? Do they think another exes scandal will make any odds? Nobody actually *wants* to vote for Dave’s shower anyway. They’re only doing it to get rid of Brown, and the libdems are a pointless waste of space. “Liberal”? Those gaggers and busy bodies? Democrats? When they can merrily back AV, purpose-built to ensure the tyranny of the majority?

They can smear and attack and lie and cheat all they like, it doesn’t impress me and it’s not big and it’s not clever and I will not be voting for them.

We all know that the tories, liberals and labour all want the same basic agenda to play out. Sure there are slight variations, but they are all puppets of the same establishment and they all are pushing this country towards the same rabidly anti-British goal.

They can all fuck reeeet off!

    • 78
      Ruth Kelly's plaything says:

      Quite right, Mr Ned.

This sort of despicable behaviour comes from exactly the cast of mind that has got politics into the mess it is currently in.

If they want my vote they could try re-introducing principle to their conduct, but the problem is that very few of them would recognise even the idea, let alone consider it seriously.

Like others, my vote this time will probably be a protest one, given to the least popular party on the list, just to spite the big three.

Misuse of ‘democracy’? Yes, but far less egregious than their behaviour.

What is more surprising is that Smithard is doing this himself, when he is so readily identifiable as a Cowley Street apparatchik. 30 seconds effort on Google identifies him very clearly – indeed, when I looked just now, entering “Tom Smithard” led to Google automatically offering me “Tom Smithard Liberal Democrats” as a refined search previously used by 5000+ people.

Given he lives in a Lib Dem consitutency (Burstow’s Sutton & Cheam) which does not lack for deluded local activists, I am surprised that he did not get an unknown proxy to do the dirty work for him.

    Old Grumpy says:

I suspect that this tactic originates from one Peter Chegwyn, of Gosport. He has been trying this one out down here, for the past year.

The problem is that his expenses are also somewhat suspect!

If one relates this to the latest Lib Dem Campaign Tactics Manual, also produced by Mr. Chegwyn, the picture becomes clearer. In this set of documents, Mr. Chegwyn advocates the start of rumours against opponents, which might not be based on fact! His hypothesis is that shit sticks, whether real or not!

He is renowned for his efforts in this area. He is quietly credited for the Lib Dem success in the by-election in Gorgon Clown’s back yard! There are also nasty rumours that he was responsible for the destruction of Peter Tatchell’s political demise.

Of course Mr Chegwyn has his own problems. He pleaded guilty to offences against our rules concerning democratic votes and was banned from public office for 2 years……… a sentence against which he has appealed. He is also to be arraigned against the inspectorate in early March; “on more serious charges”!

You really should research the Lib Dem Party Documentation much more thoroughly! They are illuminating, to say the least!

BTW. An apocryphal story holds that, when Chegwyn’s name was raised with Ming-Campbell, he was seen to spit on the floor of the Lobby!………. a necessary evil, it seems………

    • 73
      jgm2 says:

I used to live in the constituency next to the Maximum Imbecile’s that went LibDem in a by-election immediately after the last election.

Two things stood out. The incumbent was a Labour bed-blocker who had been at death’s door even before the election but thought it best to deal with her constituents requirements from her deathbed thereby accruing a few more months pay and pensionable service for her partner.

It also coincided with the printer company LexMark pulling out after the subsidy to pay Labour voters non-market rates dried up.

I was delighted they got shot of Labour. And even more delighted they didn’t elect and S&P candidate.

The only party I saw electioneering in the middle of Dunfermline were the LibDems. I guess Labour thought, as with so many of their ‘Stepford’ constituencies they had only to stick a A.N.Other (Labour) on the ballot paper and the zombie voters would do the rest.

      Ha. Go fuck yourself Labour.

What a load of absolute old cobblers from Old Grumpy!

Nothing to do with me except when he says I have my own problems he ought to now report that I won an Appeal in the High Court last Monday against a complaint originally from the Conservative Leader of Gosport Council, got my full costs, and heard the Judge refer to a Conservative Party leaflet issued against me as being “defamatory”.

I would suggest the Conservative publisher of that “defamatory’ leaflet now has more to fear than I do!

As for Old Grumpy, if he wishes to foam at the mouth about anything why not have a go at the sexist Conservative Party Chairman in Gosport, Alan Scard (known to all and sundry as Alan B’Scard) who embarrassed David Cameron by saying he would never vote for a woman “unless she was attractive”.

Or is Old Grumpy perhaps very closely related to Alan B’Scard?

With that kind of old-fashioned sexist nonsense still alive and half-kicking in the Gosport Conservative Party, there’s hope for the rest of us yet!

How long do these hacks have to sleep on a story before rousing themselves to switch on a terminal?

All this was disclosed several weeks ago by one Andrew Neather, a NuLab apparatchik, writing in thelondonpaper.

At the time Melanie Phillips (in the Mail) and the D Tele duly exploded, but everyone else ignored it (inc of course our beloved Beeb; yes, the same organisation that appointed someone called Ahmed as head of religious broadcasting – another instance of the pinko establishment rubbing the majority’s face in the dirt).

And they wonder why people think of voting Banque Nationale de Paris.

        Mr Ned says:

“All this was disclosed several weeks ago by one Andrew Neather, a NuLab apparatchik, writing in thelondonpaper.”

Well, at that time, that was just his opinion. Labour rubbished what he wrote and denied that they ever had any such secret policy.

The reason for this latest interest in the story is that migration-watch have secured documentation from the cabinet, (via a FOIA request), that backs up and proves what Neather said in his article.

Labour DID have a secret policy to “open the floodgates” on immigration. Hence why at that time (2001-2008) any reference to the term “open the floodgates” in the media was met with howls of derision and claims of overt racism by labour.

The BBC does not report news, such as the Neather/Migration Watch confirmation on enforced mass immigration. They will only mention it when it becomes an HISSUE after the blogosphere has really gone to town. Migrationwatch have done us all a great service. Pity it is not a political party they would attract a great deal of support.

But when you consider that CAMERON has forbidden his candidates from mentioning the word (Immigration) it shows what a total waste of space this heir to Bliar or Bliar tribute act he really is.

This is now a subject, proven from official records (thanks to Migrationwatch and the Freedom of Information Act). That Cameron should really lay into Brown and his anti white cronies in his cabinet and party.

    Lib_Homoskeptics says:

The Liberal Democrats are still just as Two-Faced with Equality Issues as they were in the 1970s.

If 90 percent of ethnic minorities are anti-gay to the point of compulsive-obsessive the weak-bellied Dem’Libs’ can not be seen to be supporting the Gay Vote too loudly for fear of upsetting their other ‘chosen’ people.

No Liberal MP (Viz. Mark Oaten resignation- 2006) has ever ‘come out’ without having to resign soon afterwards or even dared to stand as an openly Gay candidate (Brian Paddick’s London Mayoral bid is pure window dressing in a contest they have already resigned to lose).

The Dem’Libs’ one-man, lone ranger spin machine could, if he really wanted attack a myriad of Labour defects: but instead prefers unapologetic cynicism in sniping at the other party in opposition.

It is cowardly not to face up too the playground bully, but instead to pick on the person (Dave) taking on the bully.

    Oh yes please.

Vice Cable in Twickenham might be bomb proof, BUT, his Lib-Dem council members most certainly are not. They brought in salaries rather than allowances and have a really checkered history with the sale of public assets and the granting of planning consents for big developments. And of course there’s always the Ice Rink gnawing away at their credibilty from the ’80′s.

More up-to-date its once again Twickenham riverside and the mooted sale to a public coy for the erection of riverside homes, with no afforable inclusion and the loss of local amenity.

Of course Richmond Council’s preferred bidder, with whom they have bedded on a number of occasions is Dawnay Day, sadly lost in the recent conflagration of the markets following credit crunch melt down and no longer available.

Those that initiate the sword must regard the stab in the back as an occupational hazard.
