Fabians Forget the History of their Evil Cause
The Fabian socialists are having their “Causes to Fight For” conference today. A rally of freedom hating statists who will throw soundbites to a tweeting mob. For over a hundred years the Fabians have tried to increase the power of the state at the expense of society. If there is one consistent aim from the time of the Webbs, through from Oswald Mosley up to Sunder Katawala today, it is to undermine a free, property owning society. Fabians realise socialism will never triumph as long as people have capital and independence.
For most people their single biggest asset, and society’s bulwark against socialism, is their family home. It is why socialists want penal inheritance taxes and opposed letting low income families get on the property ladder. Council house sales turned former state dependents into property owners, promoting upward mobility and vote switching from a Labour Party which wanted to keep them as clients, to parties which encouraged popular aspirations. Even today Fabians still want to extend state socialism further at the expense of home ownership. The past hundred years of the Fabians have had even darker times too.
In preparation for their Challenging Extremism session at the conference, Sunder Katawala wrote a not unjustified diatribe against the Daily Mail for historically endorsing the Blackshirts. Very thin ice for a Fabian to be on given that the Blackshirts were founded by a leading Fabian – Oswald Mosley.
In the first few decades of the twentieth century the Fabians were the biggest advocates of eugenics. Leading Fabians and founders of the LSE, Sidney and Beatrice Webb believed “What we as eugenicists have got to do is to ‘scrap’ the old Poor Law with its indiscriminate relief of the destitute as such and replace it by an intelligent policy of so altering the social environment as to discourage or prevent the multiplication of those irrevocably below the National Minimum of Fitness.” In the 1930s Archibald Church introduced a bill for eugenic sterilization to stop “those who are in every way a burden to their parents, a misery to themselves and in my opinion a menace to the social life of the community” from reproducing. Church was a Fabian.
Prominent Fabians such as H G Wells, Bernard Shaw and the Webbs led the way in combining the ‘progressive’ ideologies of socialism and eugenics. It doesn’t stop there either. As The Guardian reported last year the “Fabian socialists provided the intellectual justification for the eugenics policy that led to the stolen generations scandal.” For a century the Fabians have sought and sadly often succeeded in undermining the traditional family, property rights and individual freedom. Their cause is evil.

There is an essential dichotomy in socialist thinking. Socialists themselves think they are good, because they have the best of all possible intentions (apart from the envy of course – but the worst socialists are those from a privileged background themselves). So socialists think they are good, when in fact they are a manifestation of pure evil, because the outcome of their policies is invariably bad.
But of course, to the left “intent” is everything and “outcome” is nowhere.

If taxes for the middle classes were at 25 percent there would be no need for any claw-back on tax credits. People “in the middle” want to keep what they earn.
Tax credits are a consequence of a legal minimum wage, in turn enabled by a multi-national workforce. Nobody earns enough; the State makes up the difference.
The abolition of a minimum wage and strict immigration controls would actually help national wages to rise. Worth a try I say.

Whilst the plant was consulting with workers, (originally 300 were for the chop) Alastair Darling announced the 0.5% increase in Employers National Insurance surcharge, starting April 2011 would be doubled to 1% (total now 12% tax for the privilege of employing somebody)
I calculate this would add about £2 million a year to ‘tax on jobs’ that this plant has to pay. Downsizing the plant, leaving part of the factory empty will attract 100% empty property rates after 6 months (April Budget 2009)
No surprise that the plant will now close end of 2010
This shows that our politicians do not (or cannot) think through the consequences of their interference in tax policy. Your analysis ought to be front page news well beyond the newspapers of Miskin, Bridgend and Cardiff.

I can hardly walk because of pain from a bad knee. My GP referred me to a Hospital 3 months ago and I have heard nothing.
In order to comply with waiting time targets the hospital will not send me an acknowledgement or appointment until the appointment date is within the target for waiting times. The targets have been manipulated and are meaningless and worthless.
I can hardly walk and I am struggling to look after my family. I cannot work.
Next week I will ask my GP for a private appointment. I have no choice.
Three points.
1) The numbers of people on incapacity benefit are an indication of the utter failure of the NHS. Solving the problem requires the involvement of health professionals not clipboard box tickers.
2) The only way that Gordon Brown’s promises to the Middle classes can be worthwhile is if they are printed on toilet paper; then we can at least wipe our arses on them.
3) Any politician, ( Cameron; that means YOU) who defends the NHS and promises to keep its structure and the expenditure on it intact, deserves to be rejected by the electorate with utter contempt. MPs, Prime Ministers and Leaders of the Opposition might get good treatment from the NHS, the rest of us get treated as if we were inmates in a concentration camp.

The battle between socialists and fascists is so bitter because it is a battle between blood brothers. Crucially, they both compete for the same vote. Were it not for issues of race, there is very little practical difference between socialism and fascism:
-Both advocate the needs of the many over individual liberty and independence
-Both advocate the centralisation of power, economic planning and have anti capitalist sentiments
-Both may allow some modicum of private enterprise, providing it serves the agenda of the government
-Both view liberty as dispensable for security

It’s interesting to consider the reason for the increasingly strict firearms laws being phased in around the world. As a member of the Fabian Society and Labour Party I found this blog very interesting though obviously I don’t necessarily concur with its conclusions. You’ve done well to point out the connection of past Fabians with eugenics and the dangers of the too powerful state. As others have commented eugenics was embraced by both left and right during this period and of course now would be completely unacceptable to both. The policy of one child in China led to the culling of sometimes healthy girl children and we do not know about those with disabilities. But it is possible that as a policy it was advantageous to China to control its massive overpopulation which in India has led to grotesque poverty and homelessness, contrasting with great wealth. The Fabian Society is very influential on the Labour Party and I suppose you could say is part of the ‘establishment’. But could we say the Guido is also part of the establishment?

Whichever way you try to twist it Fabianism is still a form of fascism whereby business and property are controlled by the government through laws, rules and regulations and court decisions.
In Fabianism/socialism the government owns the assets of a society: the factories the banks, the businesses, etc.
In Hitler’s / Mussolini’s fascism assets are left in the hands of the private sector, but the government makes rules and laws about the use of those assets. They passed laws that the owners of private assets must use the assets for certain purposes and in certain ways.
So can now you can see, ignorant plonkers that you are, that there is only a small difference between the two. In both systems it is the government controlling businesses and assets. In Facism it owns them by way of rules and laws imposed on individuals and businesses, in socialism via direct government ownership.
Both systems sing from the same hymn sheet: both want to confiscate wealth from citizens.
