A friend recently sent a Freedom of Information request to Proskills, a quango that is one of 20+ Sector Skills Councils.

It is near as damn it 100% taxpayer funded, although set up as a not-for-profit company with a group of self-selecting directors led by Stephen Falder (who should have stepped down last year under the articles of association, but didn’t). At the beginning of this year, Proskills had cash balances of over £600,000.

The enquirer wanted to know how much cash the directors had helped themselves to in the last three years and how much had been spent on printing and to whom it had been paid (one of the director’s son owns a printing business that has been doing work for them – quelle surprise).

Proskills replied with a short f*ck off letter that simply said “We are not covered by the Freedom of Information Act”.

Open Government Gordon? Value for money? Joke.
