This is the hypocrisy that the Environmental Taliban don’t like seeing exposed. Where someone in the scientific community produces a great body of work or excellent data then they publicise it. It’s all part of the process of becoming known for being good at your job and steadily become the peers you previously deferred to, eventually lording it over others.

That’s why this whole argument about releasing the data being blocked due IPR was such bollocks. If a scientist won’t publish the source then you can put the farm on it being compromised.

But then, academia has always been a hotbed of politically self-interested wankers.

I don’t know why people keep harping on about Mandelson – no-one takes a single word he utters seriously. The mincing little freak was outed a long time as coruption personified.
