You know why our taxes are so high?
Benefits were supposed to be for the poor, not those on reasonable wages. There was a prog on Newsnight a couple of months ago where a bloke went onto a fake dragons den and tried something like this with the panel. He said his wife thought it was an awfull idea becuase she wouldn’t be able to buy posh wine for house guests. They were quite well off, He thought taxes shouldn’t be paying for her friends booze.
He was voted out by the panel. I happen to agree with him. Money to people who need it, not chavs, not wastrels not people with adequate income (they’re not included in the other groups), but people who actually NEED it.

If they lost here then they may as well pack up now but the fact is Scotland will not decide the next General Election.It will be won or lost in England and Wales where the story is a lot different.It’s unlikely that Labour will hold on to many of the Midland marginals or some oparts of the N. West. And Wales is also likely to see some surprises for Labour too.
The Tories will never make significant gains in Scotland and certainly not in these sort of areas. The main worry for Labour there is the a resurgent SNP and the rising tide of BeeNpee votes.

Most of the countries of Europe are now coming out of recession, unlike Britain which is miles behind and doomed to years of penury and austerity thanks to £1.4 trillion private debt and Brown’s rapidly growing public debt burden of more than £800 billion.

to be fair, Germany is rebounding off a calamitous 20% fall in industrial output in 2008/9 and will probably see a further fallback in early 2010 with the fallout from the end of the car scrappage scheme. however, it is planning to be below the EU’s 3% budget deficit level by 2013. Britain is running a 13% of GDP budget defcit this year, next year and >10% ones for the foreseeable future due to its busted real production economy and hugely oversized public sector. Germany is Europe’s true economic powerhouse.

That Glasgow victory for Labour will go down like a lead balloon in the real electoral battlegound of the West Midlands and in dozens of marginal seats across England.
‘Undecided’ English voters will see a load of unemployed Scots, who their taxes are keeping in booze and fried food, giving their votes for Labour yet again. Labour, who are screwing more and more taxes out of English workers to give to their fiefdoms in Scotland and parts of the NE.
There will be a big backlash against this by-election result in the marginal constituencies of England, which are the only seats that matter when it comes to the general election.

The turnout was only those that were not paralytically drunk at the time. Being well into the month and well int the week 33 percent managed to show. If it were held at a weekend early in the month that percentage would have dwindled to a spitdribble

Why the hell should people earning good money be entitled to benefits? I thought that Cameron was going to put a stop to this ludicrous system yet when Brown suggests it he is castigated by this website. The only people getting benefits should be really poor or disabled.
Being more involved in Thai youth policy these days, I don’t take too much notice of UK politics.
As I’ve said before, I like the cut of that Farage fellow, because he doesn’t seem keen on switching our government to those wallahs in Belgium. And he’s good looking.
But Brown, Cameron and Clegg seem about as soft and compliant as you can get in that area.
Obviously, soft and compliant are sovereign virtues in some ways. After all, they’re one of the best ways to gain admittance to Stroke Bottom. But surely when it comes to handing the country over to a small group of minor
civil servants in a foreign country, someone ought to make a stand. I’m actually quite disgusted with Cameron. Thought he had more testicular fortitude.

Isn’t it about time a law was introduced that made it a necessity to have been employed for at least half of any previous parliamentary period in order to be eligible to vote? If you’re not contributing anything to the country why should you have a right to any say in who runs it?

I can’t help thinking that if the thieving twats didnt nick our money off us in the first place in the form of taxes, we wouldn’t need state aid, and even if we did, we would more than likely have parents, relatives, friends and collegeus who were so much better of through not having taxes to pay that they would be able to help out.
But then of course the Prime purpose of the Welfare state is not about welfare its about Enslavement.
