Most revealing article so far in the guardian, I'll attempt with all due humility to elucidate wha the liberal c**nts are saying:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/nov/04/cameron-eu-lisbon-referendum-reaction.

It's the Europeans going ballistic over the prospect of facing Cameron (obviously they see him more as a fly in the ointment than we do).

"In the case of employment law, they said there was almost no chance Britain's European partners would approve an opt-out as it would be seen as giving the UK an unfair advantage in attracting foreign investment."

Let's wait and see if Cameron's got any balls at all.

"We have had 10 years of institutional debate and now is the time to talk about practical co-operation. We don't need another 10 years of institutional debate," said Elmar Brok, a German MEP

Yavol mein tropher!

Sylvie Goulard, a liberal MEP and the head of the European Movement group in France, said: "David Cameron is beginning to realise it's easier to be in opposition than in be power. When you come closer to power things become more difficult. Even if the tone of this seems to be proud and British, the content is very careful.

Oh shucks! she's playing to his upper class values. To be head of opposition to Brown is as easy an an ejector seat dummy. Just wait for the rush of air!

"It's window dressing. If you look at what he (Cameron) says, he's not putting into question Britain membership, because he knows that it is not in British interests. He's taking some pieces to give people in his camp."
Pawel Swieboda, a former Polish presidential adviser who now runs the demos EUROPA thinktank, said: "There is a big sigh of relief that he has climbed down the biggest tree, putting Lisbon in question as a lot of people feared. It's a case of big cloud, small rain, as we say in this country."

So - they are worried!
The Eu were shitting themselves! Ha! Dave - go for the bullsey!

Swieboda pointed out the Conservative leader made no mention of opting out of European security and defence policy, another contentious area. As for the prospect of a British sovereignty bill, requiring a referendum on future transfers of power to Brussels: "Future treaties will probably not be possible. We are moving into a situation where this is it."

Was not that the title of a M. Jackson single? It certainly is NOT it - if we say NO!!!

Charles Grant, the head of the Centre for European Reform in London, said a sovereignty bill that restricted further encroachments on the jurisdiction of British institutions would not necessarily be controversial. But it would bring Britain into conflict with the EU's core principles if used to strike down existing rulings by the European court of justice.

Interesting - this part. The EU Charters have not been truly absorbed into English Law. They have been merely tacked on, using definitions like "incompatible" - which have no real meaning under Common Law. We can exclude them if we really want at will!

Well he did buy other stuff with the money (or so he claims). Apparently the BoE bought Dollars, Euros and Yen with the proceeds of Brown's idiotically pre-announced sale. He might have scored a bit with the Euros but my guess is that gain was more than wiped out by losses on the Dollar. At best the country didn't lose too much.

Of course, if he'd held onto the gold, Britain would now be significantly better off.

So what you're saying is that Cameron is not quite a shite as Brown. Hardly a ringing endorsement!
