A close friend of the prime minister who lives with her husband in a £1.5m house in London has claimed £230,000 in expenses by saying a flat in Glasgow is her main home.
Baroness Goudie (Goudie of Roundwood in the London Borough of Brent), a Labour donor and fundraiser, has lived since childhood in London where her two sons grew up and her husband works as a leading barrister.
However, the baroness tells the Lords her main address is 400 miles away in a Glasgow apartment block. A close neighbour said she had not seen Goudie there for some time. ”
“She is a trustee of Sarah Brown’s charity”
“Her husband James is a QC who worked in the same London chambers as Blair and Derry Irvine”

        “No surprise”. Is that enough?

Plenty more where this policy came from.

For example the Barker Review of Housing Supply 2003-04; designed to open the flood gates to new build and create an imbalance of supply to demand so as to “adjust” the UK’s wealth.

Shame that they are a couple of chromosomes missing!

        • 75

Eh? I think the opposite happened, we didn’t build more houses, they deliberately boosted credit and house affordability fell through the floor.

High house prices to wages /Low house affordability is not a good thing.

          • oh and it’s certainly not “wealth” in anything but a rent-seeking way.

          • Max says:

As always with ZNL these things go wrong; the intention was to persuade everyone that more houses needed building but the rallying cry was “there is a shortage”. That meant that a price bubble formed in advance of the building programme so you had the perverse situation of increasing oversupply AND rising prices!

Add to the toxic mix uncontrolled credit, compulsory social housing, greed, the demolition of homes in the North East/West (Prescott’s Pathfinder scheme) plus a dictat on building at high density (Prescott again) and you have a decade of distorted markets.

ZNL; Unintended Consequences – That’s What We Do.

          • Max says:

Re “wealth” it was not anything complex like rent/buy to let or whatever; essentially McDoom had a (technical and perfectly understandable economically based) bee in the bonnet about the UK’s “wealth” ie the wealth of its citizens being too centred upon bricks and mortar and that this carried technical risk for eg inflation. This was sensible and thought through. House price inflation is a factor in boom’n'bust and he was, you will recall, determined to abolish it!

The rest wasn’t at all sensible, particularly if you add in soshulist dogma, envy, greed, incompetence, Prescott etc. Need I go on?

This could give the tories a very large hammer with which to whack Nulabour, but they won’t, because all discussion has been closed down. I think the situation will become so bad in the next 5 years that no-one will be able to afford labour — cheap or otherwise — then watch multi-culti Britain disintegrate when those that can push off to find work in France or Germany (they’ll be EU citizens) or even back to India and Asia and we are left with the residue unemployed and unemployable.

    • 21

Take a moment to ponder Hitler’s words below:
“Had Charles Martel not been victorious,” Hitler told his inner crowd in August 1942, “then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world.” Hitler told Albert Speer that Islam is “perfectly suited to the Germanic temperament.” If the Muslims had won in Tours, the whole of Europe would have become Muslim in the 8th century and “the conquering Arabs, because of their racial inferiority, would in the long run have been unable to contend with the harsher climate and conditions of [Europe]. They could not have kept down the more vigorous natives, so that ultimately not Arabs but Islamized Germans could have stood at the head of this Mohammedan Empire.”

Because these “investments” were being made by the state it had no effect on outcome anyway, I doubt the fall in funding (not calling it investment) will have much effect on outputs either.

Indigenous peoples around the world have sought recognition of their identities, their ways of life and their right to traditional lands, territories and natural resources; yet throughout history, their rights have been violated. Indigenous peoples are arguably among the most disadvantaged and vulnerable groups of people in the world today. The international community now recognizes that special measures are required to protect the rights of the world’s indigenous peoples.

        • 164
          anonymous says:

Google the ‘UN declaration on indigenous people and there rights’.

There does not seem to be one definitive definition of indigenous people, but generally indigenous people are those that have historically belonged to a particular region or country, before its colonization or transformation into a nation state, and may have different—often unique—cultural, linguistic, traditional, and other characteristics to those of the dominant culture of that region or state.

•Historically, conquering societies have created arguments and moral justifications for their approaches.
•Some have included views that the former people living in the conquered lands were not “civilized” (they were “savages” etc), and had no concept of individual property rights, etc and so they never “owned” the lands they lived in
•Therefore it was seen as okay to claim the “unoccupied” or “unowned” land as their own.
•Furthermore, this subtle imposition of the outsider’s culture, practices and norms onto other cultures (to whom many facets may be alien or alternative to their ways) when used in this manner, is coercive and denies them rights, while transferring them to the newcomers instead.
•And so, if ever the formerly dispossessed people attempt to regain some of what they unfairly lost, then it will be countered by such technicalities.

          • anonymous says:

That is why Marxists try and use the Romans, we are all from Africa and any other shaky assertions they can think of that undermines any historical claims to get us to give up our rights as the dominant indigenous people of the UK.

You simply can not have a multi cultural society with out removing the indigenous people, as the native Indians in America found out.

I wonder how much influence the Black Death of the early 14th century had on immigration? I seem to recall that we lost about 30% of the population, so there might have been quite a few ‘job vacancies’ about for a few decades afterwards. They might have been very glad of the extra hands.

        Engineer says:

Extract from the Wikipedia article on The Black Death.

In England, in the absence of census figures, historians propose a range of pre-incident population figures from as high as 7 million to as low as 4 million in 1300,[50] and a post-incident population figure as low as 2 million.[51] By the end of 1350 the Black Death had subsided, but it never really died out in England over the next few hundred years: there were further outbreaks in 1361–62, 1369, 1379–83, 1389–93, and throughout the first half of the 15th century.[52] The plague often killed 10% of a community in less than a year—in the worst epidemics, such as at Norwich in 1579 and Newcastle upon Tyne in 1636, as many as 30 or 40%. The most general outbreaks in Tudor and Stuart England, all coinciding with years of plague in Germany and the Low Countries, seem to have begun in 1498, 1535, 1543, 1563, 1589, 1603, 1625, and 1636.[53]

The plague repeatedly returned to haunt Europe and the Mediterranean throughout the 14th to 17th centuries, and although bubonic plague still occurs in isolated cases today, the Great Plague of London in 1665–1666 is generally recognised as one of the last major outbreaks.[54]

They are also critical to the exercise and enjoyment of the rights of indigenous individuals.” (Letter from 40 indigenous peoples’ organizations to Tony Blair, September 2004, quoted by the above-mentioned article from Survival International.)

Labour tried to block the UK being signed up and recognising the indigenous rights charter in 2005. Now we know why.

Legally this is really dynamite stuff now thanks to Andrew Neather.

One part in particular I found interesting:

        Article 8
        1. Indigenous peoples and individuals have the right not to be subjected to forced assimilation or destruction of their culture.
        2. States shall provide effective mechanisms for prevention of, and redress for:
        (a) Any action which has the aim or effect of depriving them of their integrity as distinct peoples, or of their cultural values or ethnic identities;
        (b) Any action which has the aim or effect of dispossessing them of their lands, territories or resources;
        (c) Any form of forced population transfer which has the aim or effect of violating or undermining any of their rights;
        (d) Any form of forced assimilation or integration;
        (e) Any form of propaganda designed to promote or incite racial or ethnic discrimination directed against them.

But we need also to acknowledge that there has, for centuries, been significant immigration into Britain that has been beneficial.

The issue isn’t Nick Griffin’s geneological ancestry, or yours, or mine. The issue is this weekends admission by a senior Labour govt advisor that for 12 years Labour have beeen pursuing a covert policy of flooding the country with millions of third-world immigrants in a deliberate act of social engineering in order to completely alter the face of this country forever.

None of us were given the opportunity to vote for this multi-cultural nightmare, it was just foisted on us. Nearly every town and city in Britain has been altered to some extent and now contains alien ghettos. This process continues apace.

The country has been Balkanised and even you must know what regularly happens in the Balkans. It’s not pretty and it’s not nice and none of us voted for it.

How do Labour voters feel now they know they have been conned by their own party for the past 12 years?

….’Huge increases in immigration over the past decade were a deliberate attempt to engineer a more multicultural Britain, a former Government adviser said yesterday.

Andrew Neather, a speechwriter who worked in Downing Street for Tony Blair and in the Home Office for Jack Straw and David Blunkett, said Labour’s relaxation of controls was a plan to ‘open up the UK to mass migration’.
As well as bringing in hundreds of thousands to plug labour market gaps, there was also a ‘driving political purpose’ behind immigration policy, he claimed.

Ministers hoped to change the country radically and ‘rub the Right’s nose in diversity’. But Mr Neather said senior Labour figures were reluctant to discuss the policy, fearing it would alienate its ‘core working-class vote’.

“Jack Straw and Tony Blair ‘dishonestly’ concealed a plan to allow in more immigrants and make Britain more multi-cultural because they feared a public backlash if it was made public, it has been claimed.

The allegation was made after a former Labour adviser said the Government opened up UK borders partly to humiliate Right-wing opponents of immigration.

Andrew Neather, who worked for Mr Straw when he was Home Secretary, and as a speech writer for Mr Blair, claimed a secret Government report in 2000 called for mass immigration to change Britain’s cultural make-up forever.”

Nell to put it into way way you may understand,it’s called ethnic cleansing of the white English, that’s what Liebour are trying to do,we are an Island race and we have seaports and we have had people coming going and staying here for centuries not a problem, the problem is Liebour using all the races in the world to fill up this country just so they can piss off the right wing, that is treason.

  64. Chaim Alumberjaque says:

Nell. With respect because you probably live in a traditional environment but there are a growing number of towns, cities and counties which are changing from being ‘traditional and traditionally cultural to being ‘alien’ to the indiginous population. Your point about Griffin’s ancestory is irrelevent. Does he follow england or welsh teams? does he marvel at a flypast by the battle of britain wing?
Get the drift? does he spit and chant hatred to British squaddies? I’ve no time for the b&p but your argument is irrational. We are an island with limited capacity.
We should go back to how it was: Do we need you or do you need us? What do you contribute to our society when you apply to come here? They say they are applying these conditions now but these don’t apply to europeans.

  65. Anonymous says:

Integrationist policies? Oh, ffs – stick to the geneaology luv , you’re about as practical as a chocolate teapot. Humans are tribal and always will be so save your well meaning, we’re all members of the human race tosh for your next sociology lecture.

  66. Chaim Alumberajaque says:

Spot on. Great comments and educational links tonight.

  67. nell says:

Minitruth neither race nor cultural influence is the issue .

What really matters are honesty, decency, hardwork, personal values and our family commitments.

And the truth is those values are fairly constant across religious divides.

  68. Ivor Schwartzporsche says:

Yeah-like caravans and transit vans on cricket pitches

  69. Allan@Aberdeen says:

Absolutely. After all, there are no differences in academic and economic performances between blacks and orientals. And as we all know, Nigeria is as accomplished as Japan.

  70. Chaim Alumberajaque says:

    Yeah-we need more dentists.

You’re either a naive idiot, Nell, or a Labour troll. Either way, you’re a waste of space and not worth reading.

  72. Chaim Alumberjaque says:

Agree with Burnley Fan. I don’t mind going to an indian resturant but I don’t want the whole High Street looking like a new Delhi market. What happened to planning permission? I opened a shop a few years ago and they had an issue with the sign illumination. OK-fare enough I changed it.

  73. nell says:

I’m neither naive, nor an idiot nor a labour troll.

I’m a tory voter. I believe in real, caring, hardworking, family oriented people.

I don’t judge people by their colour or by their religion .

I judge them by their values and I expect them, if they are living here in England alongside me to be respecting the same English values that I do.

That rules beanpea out because their nazi values are not my english values.

  74. Countdown says:

“I’m neither naive, nor an idiot nor a labour troll.I’m a tory voter.”

Three out of four isn’t bad.

I’m afraid it’s that fact that the Tories now attract people like Nell that turns me right off Cameron. She’s an SDP entryist who’s trying to adversely influence the Conservatives with her “one world ” bullshit. Naive and dangerous in equal measures.

  76. Summer_Breeze says:

With respect Nell, they are not exactly the tories values either, are they? To be fair!

  77. nell says:

Nope I think griffen describes him perfectly!!

This fenwoman is off to bed.

    ‘Night.

  78. the cat's out of the bag says:

Labour under fire. This is from tomorrow’s Mail on Sunday….

Andrew Neather, who worked for Mr Straw when he was Home Secretary, and as a speech writer for Mr Blair, claimed a secret Government report in 2000 called for mass immigration to change Britain’s cultural make-up forever.

  81. Michael Caine says:

Nell’s not simple. Allthough she did have a small part in the film “Deliverance” which was in actual fact shot on location in the Fens.
Not a lot of people know that.

  86. Ivor Schwartzporsche says:

Mr Cameron. Will you be doing anything to address the immigration storm?
“We won’t. Let matters rest. There.

  87. nell says:

Truth is ’screw’ if beanpea got into power most of us would get thrown out of Britain , including lots of their own supporters, if family history were used as a bench mark.

The truth about the nazi’s is that many of their supporters had hidden jewish links, including Hitler.

Fascism is an evil that doesn’t focus on the good in the human race it thrives on violence, weakness and fear.

  88. Ivor Schwartzporsche says:

Nell-where is the support in thses threads for the B&P? I can’t detect any.

  89. Michael Caine says:

Who cares, nell? The truth is the nations finished. The only amusement is to be found in those deluded souls that still cling to the hope “That something must be done”.

  90. LOL says:

Are you feeling right in the head Nell or is it all that inbreeding in the Fens?

It’s just that you seem obsessed with people’s “family history” as you so quaintly call it, when the issue is Labour’s covert operation to flood the country with mass immigration.

Do you understand, or has the mogadon kicked in?

  92. Susie says:

There’s a listed 16th C cottage down the lane. It was dilapidated when the old lady died and lots of the sales fell through over the past 4 years… however a couple bought it eventually and we watched in bemusement as work started then stopped and then started again — the problem was the buyers would agree a sum with the builder and then not pay them for the work so all work would stop while a fresh builder was found. This has happened no less than 3 times.

Another problem was that the owners seemed to be under the impression that they could circumvent the listed building rules and do things on the cheap. We couldn’t understand why they didn’t understand what renovating a listed building entailed until we found out they were Asians.

The house is more or less finished but they’ve removed all the trees, uprooted the hedge and the front garden is quite indescribable — for over 2 years, plastic cement bags, uprooted tree stumps, piles of subsoil and a ditch full of stagnant green water from the septic tank overflow have remained exactly the same with no attempt whatsoever made to tidy it all up. I know for a fact that if anyone in the neighbourhood complained, we’d get a visit from the police to interrogate us for racism, so nobody says a word.

  93. ROTFL says:

Perhaps we should all ignore poor old Nell. The more attention she gets, the more gibberish she seems to spout.

The sad old witch hasn’t had many gigs since she played the banjo in Deliverence and all this attention now seems to be going to her head.

  94. nell says:

We’re not inbred in the Fens and we don’t take Mogadon.

We leave those things to the townies.

What we do out here is judge each person, not by their colour or their religion, but by their decency and their honesty.

  95. ROTFL says:

It’s called multi-cultural enrichment and you’re supposed to celebrate it not complain about it.

Ask old Nelly, she’ll put you straight or are you one of them nasty beanpea types with a chequered family history?

  96. Ivor Schwartzporsche says:

You paint a depressing picture Susie. It’s the same if you parked your caravan on a cricket pitch and invited your mates along to defecate and litter it. Untouchable but you will be if you complain about it. Either you will be threatened with home burning or the police will do you for racism.
