There are far more similarities than that Guido,both came to power in 1997 after the opposition party had straightened out after their previous spending binge,both staffed civil service with party loyalists and started to govern solely by quango ,both have a nonchalant view on terrorists,both suck up to artists for the kudos,both relied on stamp duty from an ever expanding property market to underpin treasury spending commitments,both bought off as many members of the electorate with social welfare(whether working or not) as they could,both spend more on welfare than receive in tax,both have the national TV broadcaster firmly on side,the opposition get no positive publicity,both are totally financially incompetent and an attack on their policies is declared an attack on ones country,both are in thrall of the unions and pass laws which empower unions but make job creation a thankless task best avoided,both love corporations but treat self-employed as thieves.

I could go on but why bother.
Fianna fail will be returned at the next election as the opposition parties supporters will have emigrated again to where they lived in the 80`s when the only jobs went to the “partys” people.
The reason for these similarities is simple,politics in Ireland is a family business and damn near this entire generation have studied at the London School of Economics.Yes I know its supposedly a school of economics

So how far do the parallels go? What happens to O’Dpnoghue now? Will he be ennobled in the same way as Martin? That was an utter disgrace And our ‘honourable members’kept very quie, probably mindful of their own aspirations.
