More New Media Muscle Flexing – Montgomerie Takes a Scalp
Who really removed the Shadow Leader of the House from his position? David Cameron?

No, not really. Tim Montgomerie and Heydon Prowse, the blogosphere’s sheperd of the Tory grassroots and the angry young man with a video-cam did the job:
Tim Montgomerie runs a regular poll asking the ConservativeHome grassroots to rate the Shadow Cabinet. Do not for a second underestimate how much of a whip hand this gives him. Whereas once upon time a frontbench Tory politician would worry about keeping the proprietor, editor and political correspondent of the Telegraph happy, as well as perhaps sharing a few drinks with the young and upcoming editor of the Spectator, now his horizon is much more extensive. Fail to keep Tim Montgomerie and ConservativeHome’s readers onside and he might just commission a special poll on how you are doing. If that poll finds tells the party leadership 65% of Tory members want you to resign… you won’t last a month.
Old media looks on in bemusement in Washington as cable news’ Glenn Beck gives White House Environmental Czar and former communist 9/11 “truther” Van Jones his marching orders, and the White House demurs. Heydon Prowse, who is he? He just destroyed the career of a greasy pole climbing Westminster slitherer. No house trained political nouse, no insight, in fact a little naive. He still did it. The news is now disintermediated.
Power has shifted from the top down to the bottom. Adjust your sets and tighten your belts, it is going to be a bumpy ride…

I think we would all like to see Brown the Clown resign and most of his invisible friends join the Shadow Cabinet. Now.
Look, Cameron got rid of the wrong Tory idiot. He should have fired the shadow chancellor George Osborne. He’s crap at economics, and his solutions to the £2.5 Trillion debt New Labour have run up for the taxpayers sound just like what a Lefty would come up with.
Still waiting for Cameron to grow a pair and get decent people with brains like William Hague into decent positions, not lingering in dead-end positions.
Hello Mandy. Still bitchy about Georgie, I see LOL
a cameroonian with a kneejerk Mandy comment ROFLMAO
That’s what we all voted for at the No10 petition site. only it doesn’t seem to work as well as Conservative Home.
Still I guess Gordo is just grateful to associate any votes with his name….
“Power has shifted from the top down to the bottom”
Same in broadcasting too. Anyone can now buy an HD digital broadcast quality camcorder and take pictures of ants, earwigs or tapeworms, the bloated budget of a BBC natural history department is no longer required. Power to the people.
Up to a point. Actual -broadcast- quality cameras, as opposed to the kind you can buy at Snoddy’s on the High Street, are still not cheap. Neither is the kind of obsessive patience that wildlife cameramen (and they usually are men) need. Add to that skills in turning the raw footage into a watchable narrative, an Attenborough to do the voiceover and the folk at Bristol do a job that is pretty much matchless.
And there is the little question of access to what used to be called “the airwaves”. Youtube’s quirky ten-minute chunks might be the future, but it is one in which large budgets and notions of ‘quality’ are no longer relevant.
This may not even matter: Attenborough has lived to cover every life form on the planet. The job will not need doing again for a long time.
Broadcasting was never a democracy: politics has no excuse not to be.
So has this, “angry young man” bagged any Nu Labour twats yet?
Silly question, he is Nu Labour of course. BTW Guido old chap, Tory Bear taking credit for breaking the story of the writ this morning. Neglected to mention you. Insolent up start.
ummm, look closer.
or more closely
Actually, it was a rhetorical question.
If that is rhetoric, you are very silly.
No, it’s not rhetoric, it’s a rhetorical question. dough head.
Does it not strike you as blindingly obvious that the word “rhetorical” means “to do with rhetoric”?
Perhaps Labourblister should run an approval poll on “Mr Useful” and his band of merry cabinet people.
Sir learn some manners , Ask your host ( or pay him first).
Mr Fawkes , Check the links to Mr duncan Video To Labourlist/ Mr mcbride
Mr draper had a few more emails , There was a sec of state copied into some
They should drag out that footage of him getting in the taxi with his pc base unit. I suspect the hard disk has long since found its way onto a landfill site by now. Hopefully somewhere there is an archive of all his correspondence.
Landfill? Better off jabbing them with a screwdriver.
hmm moderated. For suggestions about efficient destruction of a hard drive.
If you put it in the bins theres all sorts of ways it could be intercepted before it finally got covered in 10 feet of rubbish.
Good for Tim and long overdue.
Alan Duncan has consistently demonstrated that he is an oily hoon who does not understand the meaning of the term public service. Hopefully he will at some stage in the near future find his natural position as a mere backbencher. Even better if he is replaced at the next election by someone more decent and honourable.
He can resign and spend more time with his sunbed.
“He can resign and spend more time with his sunbed.”
Priceless – simply priceless lmao.
Has anyone ever seen Burcow and Duncan in the same room at the same time?
Give his job to Mad Nad Dorries
Go Nad!
Is this wishful thinking?
Blogs become the new powerhouse, and Guido is the new one eyed kingmaker?
I didn’t know Guido only had one eye. You learn something every day.
yeah, it wasn’t Duncan’s amazing twattery on HIGNFY and then his bumbling Anthony Steen stupidity that did for him was it ?
It was all the Nu-Media. if by Nu-Media we mean the bad press that was plastered all across the normal Media for days.
if only these dead tree dinosaurs could come up with a scandal ?
say one of the biggest ones in decades involving expenses that would cause droves of MPs to resign while causing the public to view MPs as scum
sheer fantasy as the bloggers would be all over such a story in minutes before these so called journalists could even form a twatty opinion and link to the Newspapers and TV News and normal websites like they always do
BTW Fux News isn’t a Media outsider they are a massive arm of the Murdoch Empire and swivel eyed spacebat Glen Beck is losing advertisers because he is a certifiable crybaby lunatic.

“losing advertisers”
Nice to see the Kos lunatic agitprop works here in fair Britannia. I wonder how Van Jones is doing?
I know you’re upset, Matt Frei, but you’ll just have to deal with it.
Nice to see neo-con twats still haven’t died out despite their manifest failings.
Van Jones is out because he sided with nutball NWO troothers. Good.
But what Guido doesn’t say is that Beck was also peddling one of the NWO troother lunatic theories about FEMA concentration-camps before until it was pointed out to him he had gone over the edge yet again and he was forced to do a 180 and retract his babbling conspiracy theory.
I’m perfectly happy Van Jones has gone and I’m equally happy a tit like Alan Duncan has gone.
Duncan is out primarily because of his comments about MP’s being poor little souls picked on by the Media and forced to live on rations.
And that’s the same laughable twaddle fellow moonbat Mad Nads said when she accused the media of a McCarthyite witchhunt and started foaming at the mouth about suicidal MPs because she was caught red-handed in her piggery and tried to blame the messenger.
Amusing to contrast their coverage on this blog despite saying much the same thing is it not ?
I also don’t give afuck what a BBC correspondent says
why you are so amusingly obsessed with him is entirely your own affair
The enemy of my enemy is my friend, Hoon.
You sound as paranoid as little crybaby Beck
You’re also confusing me for someone who gives a shit who you think you’re enemies or friends are, dickhead.
Those of you who have paid attention, even those of you in the cheap seats, will have known I predicted Duncan would be the “first to go”.
More useless, hopeless, self serving, shallow, impressionable, weak yes men will follow from the “call me Dave” “I have no policies” Camerhoon. I know this as I am a true Tory.
Pay attention those of you in the cheap seats!
* Throws popcorn over the balcony *
“Tory members think Alan Duncan has gaffed one time too many.”
He was incredibly stupid to be so frank with someone who had already turned him over once before.
He certainly did turn the sod.
No but he is junior shadow prisons minister whatever. Cameron’s boy done good considering, eh?
Almost agree but just stick to “He is incredibly stupid”.
One or two gaffes might just be 1 or 2 gaffes, but any gaffe might be giving the game away (I think of them as “Ratnerisms”) Too many gaffes just proves something about the way he thinks. He’s an arse.
Personally. I have nothing against the odious, obnoxious troughing little shit.
Heh, heh, heh!
Miserable little shit got all he deserved.
dave and george was an accident due to the polls, its time to put davis and hague at the helm.
Arthur, you sound like you need your food mashing.
i no what you mean, but have more faith in proper torys instead of the eton mafia.
It will happen, just a matter of when
Oh yeah, perhaps just after Dave has been elected with a landslide majority.
blair mark 2 is not good enough.
Well Arthur, you’ve convinced us; just another several million to go.
Since when has being ‘good enough’ been a pre-requisite for high office in the UK? Not since about 1940, by my reckoning.
And about bloody time too. Next they should send him to the Poor Bloody Infantry in Helmand to see whether they can trade the narcissistic little hoon to Terry Taliban.
WHAT does this mean for George Osborne ??
He must be shitting bricks tonight – unless he has an absolutely barnstorming party conference, he is toast…
Senior junior shadow chancerlorlor
Cameron ” Hello is that you Alan ”
Alan ” Yes ”
Cameron ” Have I Got News For You “
OUCH !! That is harsh !! But fucking funny !!
Very droll, says it all … chuckle
I would have thought this puts the kibosh on any ambition Oliver Letwin had for advancement as well….
The clue is in the name……..let win.
Someone has left a comment on the YouTube channel ‘Were the flowers pansies ?’
This must surely presage some ‘deck-clearing’ in advance of the conference.
Maybe Cammo is hoping to persuade some ‘bed-blockers’ to jump before they are pushed ?
Obama thinks Brown is lacklustre and depressing.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1211592/Obamas-verdict-Brown-He-lacklustre-claims-biographer-MPs-pile-pressure.html
Brown thinks Obama is a beach.
Brown is getting himself tide down by blog surfing
Where’s your evidence that Brown Thinks?
I see none!
The media had become monocultural, so it was ripe to be busted open.
New Labour methods of ’setting the narrative’, and their punishing of any media that failed to comply with their version, came into being in 1997-2001.
By 2003 Labour were dictating everything that moved, including the Iraq War, despite universal opposition. It was terrifying how powerful they had become, rigging elections with postal vote fraud and ballot box tampering etc, and yet untouchable.
The internet has played a huge role in undermining government control of the media, and is now starting to set the agenda and write the narrative. Democracy was dead, throttled by Blair, the BBC and Murdoch – but now lives once more.
If the EU succeeds in getting the Lisbon Treaty through, the internet will be controlled into submission, so the battle is far from won. The interplay between technology, state power and freedom of expression is only ever temporarily won.
i agree, i think this coming election is the only chance to make a difference on the blog so we should all use it to the best advantage and get a government that truly puts this country first and second.
Our country is finished and nothing short of civil war will rescue it. I doubt it will happen, the independently minded are being bred out of existence, literally and culturally. Those who have the wherewithal have left. Democracy is dead, PC nonsense abounds, cultural Marxists control the Gov, the Opposition, the Police, the LEA’s, the NHS and almost all media. Immigration is running at around 1400 people per day, most of whom have no money, talent, skills or jobs that produce anything like the taxes needed to cover the cost of their presence. The Internet as we know it now will be banned for the masses. I don’t mean that the nation’s morals will not still be corrupted with a restriction on access to filth and childish but murderous ‘games’, nor will their minds be awakened after the numbing processes of twaddle like BB has taken it’s awful toll, just that you will not be able to make definitive statements about anything without risking arrest. You probably will need a license to operate a modem. Their will be a two-tier Internet, with only the elite i.e Headmasters, Social workers, Councillors, M.P’s and all the other usual suspects that have ruined the country getting unrestricted access in order to ‘protect’ us and root out the evil of ‘hate’ crime. Don’t believe me? It was less than 40 years ago that a person risked arrest for being a homosexual, now it appears to be compulsory, with people who express a differing opinion loud enough literally risking imprisonment for ‘hate’ crimes. The same goes for expressing a clear, distinct view of Christianity, particularly in ‘muslim areas’. It’s over, Get out while you can.
Superb satire English Viking. Splendid job.
Civil war? No chance. The law-abiding have been disarmed. Only criminals, terrorists and the state police have weapons now.
I agree with the words of Viking: When there is no justice society breaks down. All we have to balance authorative wrongdoing is either the citizens advice bureau or the ballot box. The next general election is our last chance to elect a people’s government. The expenses scandal tells us everything we need to know about who are the people and who are the peoples whippers. What police complaints commission, what local government ombudsman, etc? They are there to stiffle complaint or concern not to champion you or I. We need to elect champions and they do exist. Woe betide them if they lets us down. I’m voting UKIP imo.
Large parts of the country have been so effectively bought out by Labour that their silence and compliance is assured.
Here in County Durham, we have not had democracy for a long time. Such a high proportion of the population is ‘owned’ by Labour – public sector employees (more than 50% of the workforce), dole-wallahs and benefit claimants (80% of working age people on IB in Easington – I shit you not) no other political party has a chance.
Our local MP, Kevan Jones is useless and one of the greediest pigs at the trough. The smear tactics he allegedly used against General Dannat are nothing short of disgraceful. But around here, nobody gives a shit about any of those things. He wears a red rosette, therefore he gets voted in with a huge majority.
How can we ever get rid of this scum?
I tend to agree. I wish I’d emigrated a decade ago – bloody wife wouldn’t let us, and now we’re rather stuck. My only consolation is that the hidden socialism madness that’s intent on destroying this country appears to be popping up worldwide – hence the bailouts, not to mention the nanny stating in Oz and NZ.
I just hope it comes to an honest open fight, rather than this extinction by a thousand lies.
Succintly put EK. I totally agree.
Flushed down the shitter, unless we comply with the daily diktats.
Emasculated and disenfranchised, the current Labour Gov.UK have forever changed our lives for the worse.
Vikings are Norwegian matey boy, you need to decide whether you are English or a fucking foreigner.
Masterly stuff
Alan can spend more time with his family now.
It may be right for Alan Duncan to be demoted, but the last thing we want, in my opinion, is government by opinion poll.
It will lead to even more conformity and political correctness.
What we need are more people of character who are not afraid to speak out, however unpalatable their opinions, rather than only uttering views which have been researched by focus groups.
Public opinion is inclined to be fickle and can be conditioned by media. We must be very sure that any opinion poll findings are properly obtained from an impartial source.
The internet is a wonderful invention, capable of great good, but in the wrong hands is also a means of doing great damage.
Who decides who those “Wrong Hands” are?
The Internet does a good job of self-administration.
Aye, it should be in no hands especially not political hadsn. Back off, bozo!
.
..
There was talk a while ago of bringing in voting by text to get the younger generation interested enough to vote again.
Big Brother has had more votes by text than were cast at an election.
People are choosing not to vote because they hate all the tossers standing, not because they can’t be bothered to go to the polling station.
There seem to be many examples of political in-correctness on the internet as well.
Government by opinion poll would depend on how many people could be bothered to participate. It might have enthusiastic support now, so did traditional politics in past times.
Eventually people get bored with their new toy and move on to something else. The internet may have an impact on the next election, but keeping people interested after that will be the problem
Who are ‘we’, then? You speak for yourself.
Stop the witchunt of those with a little character or put up with faceless boring nonentities…
do you character and honesty.
Alan, haven’t you got some uphill gardening to do at this time of night?
I once met Alan Duncan he quickly realised i wasnt wealthy and moved on .
Agree i think it was HIGNFY that did it , although living on rations was good enough on its own . Tim Montgomerie has been running grass roots charts for ages .
however we musnt be complacent for arronovitchism is still amongst us and offering a real threat to the future well being of our country !!
How nice to see bluffer macnulty make a reappearance i thought he had resigned or somthing over troughing, I take it Alan johnson is unable to face media questions , letting conviected killers go free and all that ,unless that is later Labour scare media event is erm not working like it used to.
Picture an angry face staring at you for a 1000 years , mm old ones are the best eh orwell was right .
CW Thinks public could be on the verge of totally sussing the evils of labour , the cohort banksters and closet supporters want a court appearence and severest penalty that can be afforded , i mean what should be the price a government pays for totally ruining a country , ballot box corection looks a bit lite to me . speaking of which count should be on election night , with plod handcuffed to each ballot box , after gelnrothes i want to se as many as possible of corrupt labour mps out of parliament , and of any other flavour come to think of it .
Saw old interview of blair tonight , when we all sucked up the spin , he reminded me of a convincing puppet , but puppet for whom ??
tory bears “wheres wally” LOL G20 special edition !
There are a number of crooks who have cooked up this scam , there will be jsutice
he quickly realised i wasnt wealthy and moved on
Try some soap and a change of clothes now and then Mrs C.
your skating on thin dough !
He wants a pizza the action.
bash his crust in.
Tell him to Choux.
Think it may have been a gender thing CW. Unless you do a nice turnover!
this fuckin sword won’t come out!!!!!
could be a vaginal spasm , youll have to go to A&E together on the same trolley and wait a hour until she realxes .
she will have to tow me in.
With an average 4 hour wait at our wonderful NHS A+E you might as well just lie down and enjoy it.
its a breath of fresh air by assuming it is a hetrosexual problem.
We’re just being polite Arthur, we know you’re a raging poof.
Actually, I don’t know what the raging bit means, perhaps you’ll tell us.
i’m feeling a little kweer as your title says it all.
Good lad.
Thank heavens for Guido Fawkes to try and get us all out of this hole.
“Thank heavens for Guido Fawkes to try and get us all out of this hole.”
It’s safe to come out of your closet now little man.
I believe the vernacular expression is ‘dog-knotted’.
Do not confuse the Tory grass roots with the public. Most people will look at Tim Montgomerie and think “prat”. That’s the reality of early 21st century class politics in the UK.
What people are looking for really is COMPETENCE. In class ridden UK, this means the Etonian card does not play as badly as Gordon would like. We assume the sons and daughters of people who can afford those sorts of school fees are COMPETENT.
Brown looks like he is on heavy duty medication and I think this is playing v. badly with the voters. If Labour want to have any chance they have to ditch him NOW (aka one week after conference). Cameron is winning so far purely on a “Look at me I am so relaxed about things, that’s cos I was born to rule” vibe. But he needs to keep that going – he should avoid any detailed involvement in political ideas and policies. Just keep exuding the “born to rule but essentially nice” vibe.
He looks relaxed because he doesn’t have any Policies. If the Party does, he clearly isn’t aware of them.
“We assume the sons and daughters of people who can afford those sorts of school fees are COMPETENT”
I’m no class warrior but that just about sums it up. That is a very bad assumption, and you have Alan Duncan to prove the case.
The “duck house” and “just jealous” MPs make me think you have to scrutinise them just as much whether they went to eton or the ridings.
The main reason people are not buying the “Tory Toffs” line is because it is coming from as bunch of incompetent nepotistic troughers – pot/kettle/black. Doesn’t mean the ideal government is one made up largely of Etonians.
Check out ruins you tube trip to Bristol , he will take a pay cut !! and response to girl sleeping in car !!
one for the archives
Power of the blogsphere? Yes, right on. But how come it doesn’t always seem to work? I would think 60% of the UK population want a General Election now, so where is it?
Gordon trumps that. He knows best what the public want. He’s always telling us.
Sadly 98% of the voters:
have no access to the internet
are too stupid
don’t care
25% on benefits and will vote Labour
30% are public sector employees and will vote Labour
Next question?
Wrong. Most people have the internet. Most people care, but to get selected as a party candidate you have to play local politics for 10 years or be a SPAD, so most candidates are repellent to voters.
Yes. About your assumption that all benefits recipients are going to vote Labour…
When zoo animals are unhappy, they tend to bite their keepers.
I will decide when there’s an election because that is what the law says.
Simples.
Sir George Young re-enters shadow cabinet and replaces Alan Duncan as shadow leader of the house
Duncan is now prisons minister
Where he belongs
Will Duncan be inspecting the showers?
Dame Vera Lynn for PM
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8241244.stm
Hopefully Mr Prowse will take on the lawns of labour troughers? No? Why not? And who funds Mr Prowse and his magazine? Is he a part of the Draper contingent?
Has he got the balls to have had a climate change camp installed in Geoff Hoon’s garden, or in one of Darling Alistair’s pads. Even Fathers for Justice could install themselves on Harman’s roof. But he Mr Prowse appears to recognise only one form of sleeze, and forgets that Ministers and the Labour Party are up to their eyeballs in it.
What about his gift of a blue plaque to Jacqui Smith.
I think he’s a LibDem, actually. But it’s more important to get the troughers out of the Tory party, as they are going to be the next government. Labour are well beyond redemption.
645 to go…
Not really. he was only demoted – not sacked and he didn’t lose his seat.
Or did you mean there are another 645 members of the shadow cabinet that need demoting ?
I dunno about this Guido – if the blogs are so powerful why is Dave constantly coming out with all this social democracy crap? The rightie blogs are mostly *very* right – libertarian. I’ll believe Dave is taking his cues from us when, for instance, he says he will repeal the fox hunting and smoking bans. Minor issues, but signposts.
Seems to me he takes more notice of people like that daft mare Toynbee
because nobody votes for the UK Libertarians
Don’t be ridiculous. CMD is far too busy attending weddings and doing the social whirl according to Tatler who stated that his children Nancy and Arthur were pagegirl and pageboy at the Astor Wedding of the Year last Sat.
I suppose he could always log on on his train journeys to and from Manchester?
Labour Troll
Commie turncoat
Blogs getting hunting ban reversed?
Nothing to do with countryside alliance then?
Nothing matters until the election is called, that is when the Tories will declare their policies.
Is this not fucking obvious yet?
Libertarian is not Right in the same way that chalk is not cheese.
Strong choice.
Sir George Young was a Hague protégé and previously the Financial Secretary to the Treasury.
Shadow Cabinet Defence Secretary in 1997.
In 1998, Young was appointed Shadow Leader of the House of Commons.
So, back to Shadow leader of the house………………..
Yes.
Much of the same again. Going nowhere. Been there, tried it, safe pair of hands.
Hardly inspirational. But, the reality is there is noone else.
Lets hope he gives the bitch Harperson a good slapin instead of Duncan`s powder puff.
Amen to that.Smack the misandrist bitch hard and often!!!
Safe pair of hands, a good match for harperson and hopefully a future Leader of the House when the glorious day arrives when this buch of muppets are thrown out.
Replacing one bunch of liars, crooks, morons and perverts with another bunch of the same (apart from the colour of their rosette) will not be a glorious day. In 10 years time you will be desperate to get rid of the Tories, and the whole thing will repeat itself again. Definition of madness: Continuously doing the same thing and expecting to get a different result.
Online power is great at getting rid of the bad guys, but at the moment it seems to have little power to promote good policies or build up the good guys.
Sir Billy, just derive comfort that some of these troughers are begining to
feel the bite on their arses.
Come on CMD,next!
Oi! Only I am allowed to bit Alan’s arse.
That is better than it being used to “promote”. The MSM fell into that trap which is why it is regarded as pure spin.
Think about it, what would have Margaret done with Duncan? He wouldn’t have been on the radar. You do wonder what talent there is in this Tory shower.
Hello Derek!
so lets have a look at the talent on the Government bench, Bob Ainsworth…Brown has problems filling PPS vacancies.
Lib Dems….er…er…
Even Call Me Dave can realise that there is a shortage of talent in the Tory benches, particularly after he has removed some of the venal troughers, and others are being encouraged to ‘retire’. Then he has people who aren’t up to the job, or hate his guts so much that they would sooner support Brown.
Much depends on the quality of the Tory Candidates who win at the next general election, there may be some good people out there but equally there will be some duds who are not fit for any purpose other than lobby fodder. If Cameron had 440 MPs would Duncan have been given a look in in the first place.
It looks like the most odious Government in history is about to be replaced by the second most odious Government in history.
Plus ça change.
Too little tooooooo late ! Really Nice Dave Shows Once Again That Having No Ball’s Is Not What We Need In A PM ! GET OUT, And Dont Come Back ! Is The Cry ! NOT, Would You Mind Awfully Moving Job’s ? Now Theres A Good Chap !
The way that members of the government, and people like John Reid, are all over the media today trying to grab the glory for the conviction of the three muslims, make’s me a bit suspicious. Was this another stitch-up to provide desperately needed good publicity for Labour and it’s “war against terror”?
Almost certainly
I trust this odious government even less than I trust muslims.
I was going to say that that would be a mistake, but then I thought about it. At least the muslims are honest in their world domination thing. The Gov are killing us slowly whilst pretending to protect us.
No mention of Afganistan where our young men and women are holding back the Hordes of Terrorists perhaps they should be in Buckinghamshire or East London just a thought
here’s some news British peeps – the French and Germans gang up to stuff UK employment:
http://www.faz.net/s/RubD16E1F55D21144C4AE3F9DDF52B6E1D9/Doc~E8EBE8EA7DA5D4EE09991932197C85CAF~ATpl~Ecommon~Scontent.html
mobile phone operators Orange(France Telecom) and T-mobile(Deutsche Telekom) are going to merge. This will be achieved at the expense of thousands of job losses in call centres, HQs etc. in UK.
Guido,
Whilst Tim Montgomerie does a great job. If it was the case that the grass roots polls on conservative politicians, caused Cameron to act. WHY, WHY is that awful man MAUDE still in his shadow cabinet?
Just look at his ratings month on month!! Is it because he is Common Purpose trained and he is amongst Common Purpose pals?
Cameron is going to rule, should that unhappy day come along, not by cabinet government but by Clique Government.
The greatly disliked hack McGuire is right. It IS the tory TOFFS!
If they govern the country better than the current bunch, I don’t care whether they are plebs or toffs. On balance, I’d rather be governed by a half-way competent toff than by an utterly incompetent pleb.
Who could possibly be worse? Quite possibly CMD. Who would have thought that after 2 years of this muppet people would want Blair back? Electing a PM on the basis that he isn’t Gordo is not a good start which will lead to more destruction.
Feet Wouldn’t Have touched In My Day Cameron ! Get A Grip You Spineless Wimp !
Am I the only one to think that Duncan will feel quite at home in prisons?
He probably told Dave he would accept his demotion only so long as he got plenty of opportunity to meet a bit of rough.
Now he not only has the chance to fulfill his “kidnapped and used by a gang of lags” fantasies, he can swap notes with all the fraudsters too.
Hope he doesn’t come to visit me in my cell.
Damian.
Duncan is a pillow biter, had he been straight he’d have gotten the sack a long time ago. I notice the BBC are not making a fuss over the sacking of ‘one of their own’
Alan Duncan removed himself from office, he needed no help from others. His cringe invoking appearance on HIGNFY should have seen to his demise then, David Cameron dithered until the hapless fool as sure as night follows day put his foot in it again.
The man is a buffoon, an accident waiting to happen wherever you stick him, Like Ian Blair the former head of the MET he is full of hubris and would not recognise humility if it hit him in the face.
small man syndrome.
He wouldn’t recognise me if I hit him in the face, but I’d love to.
Are the Beeb waking up?
Was listening (with one ear – the other was still asleep) to the Toady programme, when they interviewed an economist about the bond market and the UK’s debts. He carefully explained the depth of the debt (he put it at a total of about £1.5 trillion) and the annual borrowings, and carefully explained that a 1% rise in income tax would raise about £5 billion a year, against borrowings of £100 billion a year. Then he explained how the bond markets would blanch, and possibly raise the level of interest they would charge on the nation’s borrowing if they thought there was a risk of default.
At the end of this – during which he wasn’t interrupted – the interviewer (Sarah Montague) said, “It’s enough to make anyone gulp.”
It’s taken quite a few months, but at last the BBC is waking up to the real state of the nation’s finances.
Well done Beeb. We need you to be honest like this more often.
borrowing £100 billion a year? it’s officially £175bn for 2009/10, realistically £200bn+.
you can’t have an economy for 60m people on house sales and transfer payments to public sector employees. the only way out is to print money exponentially; hence why the pound will be worthless within two years. that’s the plan.
The Conservatives recognise the need for public sector cuts, and (to give him some credit) so does Alistair Darling. Neither go far enough, and we still haven’t heard Brown acknowledge the problem, let alone proffer solutions; it’s not that long ago that he was still talking about ‘investment’ in the public sector.
Avoiding rampant inflation following on from QE will be difficult. The current government show no signs of recognising the danger, though one suspects that Mervyn King and the BofE are well aware of it.
Rampant inflation is the plan, and it’s coming along nicely. It’s the only hope the Gov has paying it’s debts, plus it has the added bonus (for the communist trash we call a Gov) of emptying savers’ accounts while they aren’t looking. Re-distribution of wealth, on speed.
No surprises here for Bloggers, only the Establishment, you can still see them particularly on the BBC rabbiting on about “how WE won the war”
I always wonder who the “WE” are exactly, obviously no relation to “THEY” or distant cousins to “THEY” and “THEM”
Presumably (and happily) the “WE” isn’t me!
The BBC fancy themselves as the voice of the nation, this is not true.
But then again, the BBC and truth are strange bedfellows!
Prisons minister?
Fuck!
he will be like a kid in a candy shop with all that rough trade
They way things are going it would be punishment enough to let people out into wider society. “In six months time I will sentence you to living in England” “Take him up from the bowels of the cells, ahha”
Little Britain, all about past glories, tradition, once ruled the waves and other bygones. No brave new world here just people still celebrating how we once won the world cup!
Little Britain directed by tiny minded civil servants, “elph and safety” and sponging politicians.
Britain needs creative leaders not parasitic feeders!
His name is David Campbell Bannerman (Creative potential leader)
Ha Ha highly amusing, call me Dave the wisteria kid!
Creative with his expenses, another Sponger!
His name is Robert Kilroy Silk (Creative potential leader)
There are plenty of “creative leaders” around. People who make things, people who provide services fo others, people with energy, drive and enthusiasm to have a go, make a contribution, make a living for themselves, provide jobs for others, volunteer their time and expertise for free.
What is needed is government with a lighter touch, to allow people the freedom to get on with things for themselves, within reason. Remove the cold, dead hand of state and EU interference in everything, and Britain will begin to blossom again.
The only problem is they are not in Parliament!
I don’t think I can take another bent metaphor.
Oh come on, Glenn Beck just works for “cable news”? Not FOX NEWS, ownded by the biggest media mogel in the world? Give me a break fat lad.
Well done Dave. Now force Bercow to face a selection committee in Buckingham to stop Farage
Actually, while Glenn Beck can take much credit for the downfall of Van Jones, much of the exposes stem from the woirk of Jim Hoft who runs the blog Gateway Pundit.
Thus, Guido is even more right in his attacks on the MSM.

I have just read Paul Waugh’s carping piece about how he really brought down Duncie, by taking the story to a wider audience than the blogosphere that Guido has put on a link at the top.
Perhaps Paul Waugh get some larger cajones and follow up on the Gordon Brown health issues raised in http://www.notbornyesterday.org/brownhealth.htm.
…or is he waiting for the eve of the Labour party conference to free up a front page splash?
