Tories : We’ve Been Lefties for Centuries

This propaganda video is to be shown at the upcoming Conservative Party conference.  It is an attempt to convince the rank and file that they are on the “progressive” side of history.  It emphasises every centrist “progressive” piece of legislation Tory leaders have ever done. The video points to Peel’s repeal of the Corn Laws (urged on by the free market radical Richard Cobden) neglecting to mention that it split the land-owning Tory party. Note how it highlights Thatcher’s 1981 budget that put up taxes and cut spending. You don’t think they might be softening up the faithful?

Not easy to highlight Hague’s “progressive” side, so it claims that fighting the Euro was “progressive” as apparently was Heath taking Britain into the European Common Market.

The last Quango in Paris says:

Mr Bryant and Mr Watson managing to make the whole hacking affair look like a farce – the more they moan the less I care about the whole subject! So partisan it beggars belief at all costs. They cannot rise above it ! If I was to call the PM a ‘liar’ I would want to be VERY sure.
