Twitterholics might be interested to know that Twitter is now Guido’s eighth biggest source of traffic. By comparison Iain Dale drives five times more traffic to this blog…
Guido banned three comment makers last month who were the source of hundreds of banal, boring and repetitive posts every day. Get a life…

Go on, name names!
Brown, Balls & McBride
Brown balls McBride! Really? Have you told the NotW?
Have I missed something, or has Dave staged a coup? See picture
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comment/edmundconway/5713846/Falling-tax-revenues-are-about-to-balloon-our-budget-deficit.html
Guido – this could be your picture for the caption competition. (See my last posting)
Aaaaahhhh Right Turn!
Disgraceful Guido.
If you ban these YTS/SureStart/Newdeal Labourlist call centre types how will they ever learn their dark arts?
Lack of funding in Labour circles have left some paid trolls barely able to progress beyond
Conservatives = financial conduct
Theses unfortunates type that sort of feeble slogan twenty times a day. How will they be able to progress to actual sentences, then maybe move to argument and, perhaps the most gifted, could one day begin to use real facts and even rational ,original thought, unless you give them some comment space?
It is your civic duty to allow life’s less fortunate and least talented the opportunity to practice in the real world outside of the student playground.
Draper, Miller, Labour List
How long does the US visa ban for people convicted on drugs charges last for normal people?
If it were a normal person, I’m pretty sure it’s for life. If you’re Jack Straw’s son them I’m sure a word with Daddy’s friends in Grosvenor Square might come up trumps!
come up tramps?
spodiodo shorts aka cosmic idiot is now untypable. Hoorah!
If that’s why you ban people, shouldn’t you ban yourself Guido?
Goodbye Number 4
Tough on trolls, tough on the causes of trolling.
I like it !!
Damn! I thought Charlie halfwit would have been one of the three! he then would have gone back to boring the shit out of the commenters there again. Alas, no such luck.
well done guido have a guiness on me lad
literally?
Damn that’s a lot of hits. I was excited this month when I got 18,000. Now I feel kinda deflated.
I am most annoyed I have not been banned.
I am most surprised that I have not been banned.
somehow I have slipped through the net.
Yes, Steve, I know what you mean! Your post about Ghost Passage is interesting. Same thing is happening all over the country. It’s called: “We can’t bother to police.”
I got a 404 when I first tried to read the comments on this posting – so I gave up and tried again this morning.
My first thought was that Number 10 had read how the Ayatolahs took out the Persian bloggers and taken you off air – by bribing a couple of sysadmins with 72 virgins and a lifetime supply of Pringles.
Freedom of speach over the Internet expires with a dying Tweet when it is used to mobilise and organise effective action – as opposed to providing a safety valve for discontent.
You are an excellent safety valve – masses of hot air from your posters but no sign of any will to take action – political or otherwise.
May your reward, like that of Google, be untaxed advertising revenues well above those with lesser readerships – and lots of harmless fun.
But may you never suffer from the delusions of grandeur of some of the others in the Grand Committee Room – because you will be 404′d away, by “accident”, if you ever do become a serious threat.
Were they speech writers for Gordon and his goons ?
“Guido banned three comment makers last month who were the source of hundreds of banal, boring and repetitive posts every day. Get a life…”
Oh well, only about another three hundred to go then.
Hey boy you wanna go toe to toe with the champ. If you can talk the talk come walk the walk i’m calling you out son.
We are all doomed…
Gaun’ yersel’,Guido, more power to YOUR GOOD SELF to prick the egos of the good and great, exposing them for what they are
eh, great and good?
Well the Labour ones are great and good (and who else is there anyway?).
Great bullshitters and good for nothing?
There is such a thing as a free lunch !
Tell me it will be ok Gordon
TANSTAAFL
Quicker than a speeding writ, more powerful than a hooning MP, able to leap up a leggy blondes thigh in a single bound, it’s Super Fawkes…
Heaven forfend that I should take any direct credit for such improvements in the hit rate, it could have been anybody.
In your case. a nobody.
the great thick as thieves definitely boosts the numbers.
the tory trolls just can’t enough of tat.
Just a thought, Getalife would be a great name for a chain of retail stores…. oh dear! hope I won’t be banned.
Do you accept loans? I quit fancy being made a Lord.
Has a ring to it doesnt it
Who has – Mandy or Brown?
Mandy is Lord of the Rings…
This was originally a reply to CH soliciting donations for Labour – but now he’s been modded. Shame. I think it shows a certain chutzpah to come rattling the tin for them here.
it is a bit annoying like shorts or whatever his name is
Guido, this is very impressive.
The reason your site is so popular is that it publishes stuff that needs to be published but in an interesting, witty and enjoyable way.
In short, your website rocks!
“Guido banned three comment makers last month”
You have most admirable restraint Guido.
p.s.
We need a general election now and the BBC licence fee scrapped
nick robinsons blog on the Blair/Brown Broadcasting corporation bans 3 people per second!
Agreed!!
That aint nothing fool i could hit the speed bag 5 million times a day.
I used to knock fools out 3 times in the first round and win the TKO, I’m the still the baddest man alive you all nothing compare to me i’m the champ your the chumps.
Sounds like Mr T to me, Tyson was never that articulate with or without a mouthful of ear.
Counting aint my strong point and Evander didn’t miss that ear, it was damn tasty though and i told him that’s what you get for headbutting the champ.
We’re all arseholes in the blogosphere, apparently.

The ‘C’? Dunno!
What do you think they mean?
I live in the west of scotland and support Rangers! Catholic, nope!
Rab C. Nesbitt is a scottish TV character. Google it!
Nope, don’t live in Glasgow.
Hartigan’s an airse.
Up there in his dinner jacket an’ a’. Whits mair, he was never an the buses!
Just who does this little celt Huhne think he is banning Ed and Yvette from posting on this blog?
Stainsey cant you block the IPs of the lobotomised wank stains wot are edyoukashionally spasticated to support New Laboooor on ‘ere?
They aint funny and are so obviously paid by the post to ‘big up’ me husband’s insane financial policies.
Im shagging a fucking alchy from Glasgow wot lives in the public shitouses
in Richmond Park.
Kuuuunt
Thanks, cosmo, don’t want them asking awkward questions, like… How did I get into America?
Sarah i’ll do you in the ass.
The light is on – but nobody in.
I followed the link and tried to donate but I couldn’t find the button which said
“a donation £XXX will make us fuck off forever”.
I had the money ready and all.
local election month !! Not much i can say after todays PMQs performance and national express nationalised (what was wrong with re nogiating the contract : simples !!)
everyone I talk to thinks his ecnomic policy is all wrong , and you cant have sound money until you clear the debts. non answer is just beyond belief .The prime minister of the Uk the highest elected office in the land , and no figs , non answer and tells nick robinson hes always told the truth !!
what a corrupt and decietfull bunch to lie to us about the real ecnomic damage being inflicted , let alone the democracy corruptions
Renegotiating the contract is far too simple.
Re-nationalising is “Building Britain’s Future”. It is the protecting the jobs of hard working families. It is increasing government spending in front line services.
OK, so it also gets a couple of minutes airtime on the TV news bulletins and appeases the unions who are refusing to fill the election war chest. Sometimes it is better to complicate things.
I’ll give you £50 for Jonty’s phone number!
I’d rather have NewGirl’s phone number….
I’d rather be holding NewGirl’s underwear in my hand, then…
Clever ads on this site. Guido will be so rich soon, the government will be asking him for a bailout.
Or to buy Northern Crock, mayhaps.
Northern Crock has only racked up a loss of 500 million this quarater, the taxpayers are aving a fookin street party innit
I’m with you there, I can’t see any either!
If only it were true that NR lost 500M this quarter. The truth is that they have now provided, in part, for losses of three or four years ago. Sadly, the entire financial sector has wodges of yesteryear debts that will never be recovered in full, and for which no provision has yet been made.
Take it from a real (and proud of it) banker who retired a couple of decades ago, that the situation is unimaginably worse than anything you have been led to believe.
I hope that this forecast of doom does not get me moderated out.
I don’t support sexists or apologists for sexists. So I don’t support you or your evil party, hypocrite Hardwedgy.
and then obviously you don’t support sexist and racist zionists either.
well done.
Spend every penny the nation can borrow on us pieces of shit please
Why should I work when Achmed and Radovan will work for 2.35 per hour down the fucking car wash?
Well done on the Stats Guido, that is a lot of hits in one month!
I see that Toenails Robinson admitted the other evening that he too is one of your many readers – hope he doesn’t read too many of the comments!
I hope one day Robinson tells the truth and not what gordon faxes over from the bunker.
If he tells the truth the BBC will sack him.
I hope his trousers fall down. On air, live at lunchtime, and that he’s carted off by the Peelers for outraging public decency – his little white legs and microphone dangling pitifully, his ululations of protest unheeded by the Konstabel.
I don’t think there is a broadcasting blacklist, but if there were, he should top it.
Mr J Cotter – what you have you have just described in your first para is the scene re-enacted every day at the Guido offices.
I wonder if their is a correlation between hits on this blog vs the number of unemployed people in the UK?
If so, thank you Gordon Brown for driving traffic to this blog.
Gordon Brown: “there will be zero percent growth”.
The Prime Mentalist isn’t working .
I’ll have a think about that one.
Off to work now, catch you later…
off to work now?
come off it engineer you are a full time sex pest.
and leave new girl alone you bloody pervert.
note to engineer’s doctor: increase lithium dosage for engineer, at this time of the year he despite his advanced age he is still a dangerous sex pest.
After Brown’s comments in the Comments yesterday, I’m sure your dotanions will see an increase of zero percent as a result of your appeal. Congratualtions!
comments in the Comments, or comments in the Commons – D’OH!
many of the posters here ought to return to their monosyllabic world as frankly they do not offer a lot. this site was more interesting before it got too popular and dare i say was a tad more intellectual before labour trolls and sectarianism reared it head.
that is ok if the comments are funny, but they do not appear to be.
so to all red rosetters with severe cranial capacity issues go back to the mirror where you can pretend to each other you are doing well with your anally retentive government and let the rest of us discuss what is really needed.
The overwhelming majority of monosyllabic morons are anti-Gordon and pro-Conservative.
Chavs. Pikies. Blingers. Weapon dogs. Essex hommes et femmes. “It’s the Sun wot won it”, etc etc
IOW. They’re yours!!
As ye sow, so shall ye reap…
I concur. Whilst the odd dribbling loon can be amusing, there has been a concerted effort of late to infest the readership of this blog with a high number of trolls and red herrings (red being the operative word and just as oderiferous as a week-old bucketful of the aforementioned fish) .
However, as can be seen with the postings made already – banning an industrious and determined troll is tricky, they will invariably find another port of entry – the only effective option is to ignore the feckers..
I’m a pink herring ekshelly and damn fine proud of it too, I don’t mind telling you.
If u 2 snobs wanta better class of blogger well FACK OFF someheres else innit
That Bono’s a right snob altogether.
I see he’s having a money raising gig too.
Hope he doesn’t die first.
Eeeee, I can remember when this site were just green fields.
Thats more readers than labour has voters….Im impressed.
And vastly more than Labour voters who can read, I should think.
Nah, all the illiterate labour voters have defected to the BNP – the only supporters Labour have left now are the sanctimonious pricks who are riddled with guilt about the fact they’re not as poor as the working classes, but have no intention of giving up any of their wealth. You know the types – lovers of the privately educated Harman, Balls etc who claim to be socialists in spite of having more money than you can shake a solid gold stick at which they will hold on to until the death. Not that I’m suggeting it’s wrong to want to keep what’s yours, but claiming to be left wing whilst doing so is pretty dishonest.
That’s more readers than the Labour Party has members.
Congratulations!
Morning Folks.
Nice one Guido, congrats.
With figures like those who can at least be arsed and so many prepared to express an opinion you could form a replacement guvmint tomorrow….not sure if I could listen to every other word in the HoC being c*”t though…but at least life would be more fair and funnier.
We certainly do live in “interesting times”.
Thank you for the ongoing opportunity to vent ones spleen.
Oh look, I’m not first or last – but I AM number 69 (adolescent giggles from woman who should know better)
Fed up with the stupid childish blogging on here so I thought I would just write about the very interesting comments from newscorp with regard to bloggers. Is that why they pursued the policeman? My conclusion is yes.
Whatever newscorp does or says in any of its media outlets is done only in its commercial interests. Who ever they support at the next election will be very carefully worked out and they will only go with who ever they believe will benefit their empire. I don’t buy any of their papers nor will I have sky. I will not fund their empire. It has never been the “sun wat won it”.
The arguments they raise in the article suggest that bloggers do not have to worry about the same rules and laws as journalists. I don’t know whether this is true or not. What I do conclude though is that on many occasions their reporting is hardly objective. They underestimate peoples’ ability to see through it though. The Iraq war is a case in point. Their weapons could reach our land within 45 minutes, many of them said. Here was a war being sold to us by government and the media. I know why government was trying to sell it to us, but why would the media want to assist the government in selling the war to us? Through this newscorp item we know that they assisted. But we knew that at the time any way.
Blogs will continue to fill the vacuum when truth is omitted. Comments here represent how different people see things in their world. How things really are. We don’t need to be told what we see and hear, we experience it every day. Things are completely different to how most MP’s and government see things from their cushioned vantage points. Mass immigration is a case in point. I know what I see and hear, I experience it every day. Does that make me a racist?
It won’t surprise me when the mass media and government, in the not too distant future start to turn the screws on the blogging world. Newscorp has already done this as I said by pursuing the policeman. Control is what they want; they cannot let blogs subvert their truth.
The real poison in this debate is the BBC’s lack of accountability. They are led by place men inserted by the government so they can hardly claim to be independent, as they should be because you are forced to pay for them. There are many reasons why we should no longer be forced to fund this bloated organisation when the rest of TV has to live by the market place. It is doing itself no favours by its blatant political bias, recently consolidated by the clear out ordered by Blair and Campbell after the David Kelly affair. Most of their reporting now is hardly investigative, but this is what the government want. I bet no prime minister or cabinet secretary ever want to be interviewed by Marr or Robinson now lest they be subject to such in depth interrogation? We have all seen it. It’s the let’s all have a chat on the sofa style of reporting, you know come in and I’ll bake you a cake too. I’m pretty certain things will start to happen slowly on censorship of bloggs, just like stealth taxes.
Finally, I thought this morning that I would try to be as articulate as I could be and as given to me by my maker. I say this because many intellectuals are very concerned about the shitty mass members of the public giving their opinions for free on blogs for God sake! No money in that is there Guido?
Shitty mass? Be right over!
Newspapers were started to inform of the truth and to reflect real public feeling. The advertising then came. It is the same with blogging. The OT comments and interjections of trivia and unrelated filth are the equivelent of horoscopes and although GF doesn’t have a Croosword section one appreciates being pulled up on poor spelling. If it wasn’t for Guido many readers not including me would never have known about the notorious Dolly and Mc Bride for instance.
I quite suspect that any large organisation with huge borrowings would support (and want to sustain) the present artificially low interest rates.
Its a money thing.
I have a plumb in my pocket
Make sure it’s your back pocket. Then you’ll have a plumb bum.
215,000 visitors is 215,000 votes and there a lot of other blog sites.
The politicians should think carefully before they contemplate legislation to control the bloggers.
215,000 votes spread over the country could win or lose an election.
If you had PR it would make a difference, bit with FPTP it won’t.
First Past the Post is Proportional Representation.
The person with the highest proportion of votes wins.
Easy.
Also leads to a working majority.
Barry
Simpler Goverment + Less Government = Better Government
not very good at maths are you
like 35% of the people who voted(22%of the electorate) voted for Blair, 65% didn’t. that makes firm stable government just like the one we have now.
Germany has a very unstable governemnt and has had since the war, because of PR. They are in a much worse state financially than we are. Just look at all the manufacturing they have lost over the years. I mean who wants to buy a German car, people want reliability, don’t they! How can they match all those things that we manufacture like………..
Even China and Iran struggle to control users. I can’t imagine the incompetent bunch of charlatans in charge of HMG would succeed. We musn’t be complacent though.
Stalin pursues the Big Lie

” I have always told the truth on spending ”
Men in white coats please
Very impressive numbers, Guido.
Why the success? Being in tune with the mood of the population, showing no fear or favour, and not taking it too seriously (we like the funny bits!).
If the advertisers insist on pressing their filthy lucre upon you, well what’s a chap to do? Good luck to you, may there always be Guinness in your glass, as it where.
The irritating prats? Well, yes, rather like eliminating bindweed – but the efforts are appreciated, old chap. Shame about the odd bad penny, but that’s life, I guess…
you better not be talking about me engineer.
I have been going easy on you so far because you are a geriatric.
but regardless of your age related incapacity don’t take liberties you old duffer or I will bash your brains out.
Sorry off topic but grabbing MPs the Keens have written to thier neigbours with regard to the squaters taking over thier house. A copy can be found on Brentfordtw8.com
http://www.brentfordtw8.com/default.asp?section=info&link=http://nnet-server.com/server/common/conannkeen45.htm
Terrible ain’t it Annie. I think we’ve all felt pretty violated recently, one way or another.
She should have stayed in the sluice where he heart is, as evidenced by the number of sentences she starts by ensuring all are aware of her former profession.
Ahhh. Poor dears. I hope it costs them a fortune to get the squatters out.
It is a bit too far over on the lowbrow scale… but then you go over to somewhere like PB and they’re waffling on about the tennis, good wine and (the other day) impressive buildings of the industrial working-class north (managing to sound patronising of course). Just as tedious. More reasoned on topic debate than here though.
What’s wrong with lowbrow? Public Opinion, innit.
You want highbrow? Go find an ivory tower….
Are you saying there’s more of a grip on reality here?
We say bye.
Did he mean me?
Good morning Guido.
I left Toenails blog months ago. Seems that postings I submitted which were not wholly complimentary to our dear leader and his cabinet were modified. It got really silly after a while and it was a complete waste of time posting. Your blog is much more amusing. Congratulations.
O/T
Any improved way of reading this blog on a Blackberry type thingy yet?
Guido may like to consider a (dot) mobi (.mobi) site?
Press Benchmark
Independent 205 k readers ( April 2009 )
Economist 186 k readers ( UK circulation 2008 )
Spectator 77 k readers ( 2009 )
Must be the Guinness
Murphy’s.
O/T
is there an improved way yet to read this blog on a Blackberry type thingy?
I like the fact that different blogs give many different opinions. Many provide the links too to support their points of view. This is often not the case in mainstream media reporting where the info given tends to be the opinion of the person doing the reporting. Providing these additional sources of information help to form views and opinions. The public can work things out for themselves.
But, and perhaps this is why government nor media like bloggs,
Information is power and power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
More open government not less is required. The FOI should be expanded. if you have nothing to hide, what have you to fear?
A very big thank you should go to the lady, whose name escapes me at the moment, who so doggedly pursued the right for us to see MP’s expenses through the courts despite MP’s wishes. History will show that this was a watershed in open politics. Guido and other bloggs are benfitting and why shouldn’t they? They are a breath of fresh air from the Breshnev politbureau style of politics introduced over the last 15 years by Blair,Campbell and Brown, and to the detriment of their own local party members.
I’m certain there will be pressure for bloggs to be sanitised soon.
I agree. Labour has an ulterior motive in getting the whole country onto the internet in such a short space of time. They need to know what we’re looking at and who we’re e-mailing.
So democratic.
Guido wrote “Guido banned three comment makers last month who were the source of hundreds of banal, boring and repetitive posts every day. Get a life…”
In the early seventies I used to run a club where people would meet around London and hold functions and we communicated with a monthly event list.
Every now and again I would pick a ficticious name out of the air and write “Xxxx Xxxxx has been banned from Network for unacceptable behaviour. He should not be admitted to any events.”
It certainly kept everyone on their best behavour.
Ampers.
you devious person you
great ruse though. Kudos
Good move Guido. Some of the recent comments were totally ott and dripping with bile. There are serious points to be made via your good ship Conduit and certain people have to be held to account and outed.
Bye the way, Balls & Brown are liars.
I haven’t been banned and I presume you are referring to me.
so that means the post you just made was load of piffle coz TOP BOY IS STILL HERE!
you idiot.
Guido. If we had a fucking life, we wouldn’t be on here.
speak for yourself cretin.
Wow. That’s the kind of sharp, witty response we need on this blog.
Well done!
We have not heard from Charles_E_Hardwidge for a little while.
Surely his lovable, tongue-in-cheek, ironic, self-deprecating wit has not been outlawed?
Any stat porn on the originating domains of visitors, like gov.uk, bbc.co.uk, nhs, local govt or other ‘stakeholders’? Always found those interesting – amazing how many bbc users are using their employer’s resources for pervery….
Banned?
You should take a leaf from Maddox’s book – publish, mock and humiliate them.
