        Unfortunately we cannot deal with the EU later. We are being stitched up so that there will not be an election until after the Irish vote and Lisbon comes into force right across the EU. One nation under Brussels.

          That lot still won’t cut it. They all still just want the bloody money. F*** them.

          The EU, as Dr Sean Gabb of The Libertarian Alliance has often said, is “A” problem, but it is not currently “THE” problem.

          “THE” problem is our sadly-home-grown-GramscoFabiaNazis currently squatting in the Commons Chamber here.

        * Picket MP’s surgeries

        * Boo the Prime Minister, boo your MP

          In the real world only 35% of the electorate bothered to vote in the recent European election.

          You are mistaken. The words free and market are not appropriate. The words greed and trough are more apt. Both failings were actively encouraged by politicians who loved to climb on the coat tails of the feeding frenzy and claim a range of ‘achievements’ which have turned to dust. That they now try to recreate the same circumstances to solve the problem is frankly insane.

      A good comment piece, following up on what was said by Dan Hannan in the Torygraph on Sunday – basically that the govt plan, led by Mandlebum, is to ensure at all costs that Lisbon is ratified before our general election. This matters more to them than winning the election, which they have given up on already.

      They know which way we would vote in a referendum, so don’t want us to have the opportunity to do so.

      Also of note is that “Apart from Ireland, at least three other nations have not yet completed the process of ratifying Lisbon. German ratification is subject to the constitutional court, which has to satisfy itself that Lisbon is compatible with German democracy. Poland and the Czech Republic require the signatures of their presidents.

      So the Germans, Czechs and Polish could still derail the Project, as well as the Irish.

    [...] The Conservatives’ new best friends The Conservatives appear to have completed the switch from the EPP-ED faction within the European Parliament, and created a new bloc called the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, with a total of 55 MEPs from 8 member states (26 of them the Conservative MEPs elected in the UK earlier on this month). Much has been made of the extreme (and frankly naive) anti-gay views held by the Polish Law and Justice (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, PiS) party, but the joint manifesto issued by the new faction bears few traces of such orientation-discrimination (H/T Guido): [...]

    the new party is a by-product of the increased power and confidence of the European Parliament and should be welcomed. as the only democratic branch of the european project, MEPs must speak their minds and fairly represent their constituents partly by forming groups and alliances.

    however, i find it disappointing that this new party is anti-federalist, anti-immigration and emphasises “free enterprise… small government” as i do not feel that this is in british or european best interests. i am slightly alarmed that david cameron is being led by misinformed populists and rabble-rousters rather than the rational, centric elements of his party. why is he emeshing himself with these irrational euro-sceptic-extremists?

    i very much hope that this another daft stunt by mr cameron and that he will come to his senses and allow the conservatives MEPs to reunite with the EPP where they belong.
