I’m fed up with telling you all this, but Two Bogs Fat Arse was a kitchen utensil cleaner on the boats. His uniform was oilskins, to protect him from all the crap. Saying he was promoted beyond his competence is like calling the Atlantic wet.

GB’s history is of resounding announcements that lead either to nothing or to some grubby stitch-up. And with Mandy’s hand up his back (ugh) we would be wrong to be anything but terminally cynical.

(Was in Dover a week ago. Castle amazing, well worth half a day; Deal a bit sad but wonderful maritime museum and time ball museum (not misprinted); Sandwich a jewel, with excellent White Mill heritage centre.)
