Euro Results

Euro Vote 09Everyman and his blog is doing an election results service based on, well, mostly watching TV, so Guido won’t bother with that. Very disappointed that Guido’s Libertas vote looks like it went to waste. At the New Ross polling station in Wexford on Friday a neighbour said “it is our job to choose between the liars”. Wise words.

Hoping UKIP beat Labour, very worried that Dan Hannan may have won his bet that Labour will come fifth in his region. Due to Pimms-related intoxication Guido offered him 10/1 odds. Ouch, think it is bedtime for Guido…

Nick Griffin Gordon Brown

UPDATE : Nick Griffin will be thanking Gordon Brown tonight.  He could not have done it without him. Brown has achieved one policy goal, he got a British job for one British worker, the British National Party candidate who is going to Brussels.  Labour MPs should reflect on that, do they fear losing their jobs in an election more than they loathe the BNP.  As long as they keep a Scot who can’t connect with English working class voters as leader, the stronger the BNP becomes.

Brown’s Photo-Op Rally Moved Forward Hour

Target GordonFollowing Guido’s highlighting of the made-for-propaganda event and possibly fearing Ceauşescu-moment style boos, Gordon’s spinmeisters have suddenly moved the photo-op at West Ham town hall forward an hour (to 3pm).  Only the most loyal of the most loyal will be there.  Don’t expect a big turn out…

UPDATE 15.55 :  Gordon’s speech is literally a string of cliches we have all heard before; tractor production is up in the Urals, we are winning the war against Eurasia, Tories eat babies, Gordon will save the world. The questions are a hoot, first up: “Why don’t the papers report the fantastic, fantastic care for under fives? “

16.02 : The First Lord of State speaks, hair immaculate, make-up trowelled on, in control in all senses, enjoying himself.  Says something about Gordon being courageous enough to spend lots of other people’s money.

16.05 : Questioner says Tories are evil, another that thanks Gordon for visiting, Sheila Thomas, ex-USDAW, just wants to welcome Gordon and thank him for coming down to West Ham, says she wants to see Gordon at party conference.  Young lady says she was born Labour, thanks Gordon for paying her family benefits, (no sign of gratitude to the wealth creators).

16.10 : The Book Mandelson and Draper think Brown Should ReadGuido losing the will to live as they bore on about various welfare benefits.  Gordon name drops that he spoke to Obama yesterday (not sure if he means he talked on a beach or a president).   Gordon, the deficit doubler, talks about getting the deficit down in the long run by spending more now.  Economic genius. (He never did balance the deficit in the long term over the economic cycle, did he?).  Few more questioners say Gordon is brilliant and it is everybody else’s fault.

16.15 : They laugh at the pasting Mandy gave Marr.  Guido laughed as well.  Questioner says the NHS is brilliant.  Blah blah blah Gordon, everything is brilliant.  Must get a drink, if they think this will impress the PLP…

+++ Source : Purnell Organising Drinks Party Monday Night +++

Target GordonIn the circumstances it will be viewed with suspicion by Brown central that he is organising a drinks party at Manchester town hall to coincide with the meeting of the PLP on Monday night. Is Purnell  expecting to have something to celebrate?

Exclusive : Brown Organising Photo-Op Rally Tonight

KirstyThis has shades of Ceauşescu in his final hours – Kirsty McNeill, the 28 year-old Brown ultra-loyalist who wrote his party conference speech, is trying to put together a photo-op for this afternoon at West Ham Town Hall, scheduled for between four and six this afternoon.  She has sent emails to mostly young Labour party supporters begging them to come to hear Gordon speak:

Gordon often says that our Party is the greatest fighting force for fairness our country has ever known. He’s right and he knows that there’s a whole generation of Labour people who will do whatever it takes to keep it that way. Would you be free to join him at West Ham Town Hall, between four and six on Sunday?

He’d like to thank you in person and he wants to talk to you about what the role for this generation of Labour is going to be, because it’s time. Time for you to stop being the future leadership of our movement and start being today’s. It’s up to us – the people who don’t think raising money for our election war chest is somebody else’s job: it’s ours. Who know running for office to stick up for the people who most need Labour councillors and MPs isn’t somebody else’s job: it’s ours. And who believe that defence of our Party, minute by minute, blog by blog, attack by attack isn’t somebody else’s job: it’s ours. There are a lot of people yak-yakking about the future of our Party and then there’s you – just getting on with being it. Do you want to come talk about it?

You can of course invite others you know, indeed please do. But I will need names for security, so if you could email me back with whether you can make it and who you’d like to bring, I’d appreciate it. I hope it’s going to be the start of something big.

Kirsty

Target GordonNo surprise there – though wasn’t he, like Caroline Flint, mendaciously saying the opposite last week?

Shows the fight is still in some Blairites….

Mandelson on Marr Show About Emails

Target GordonInstant rebuttal:

“I didn’t say that”Oh yes you did Mandy.

“I’m not going to comment on Chinese whispers and old emails”Bet you would rather not face the truth.

“I’m not going to get into tittle-tattle”  – That is Guido’s job.

Mandy let off the hook by Marr.

UPDATE :  Labour is spinning to the Lobby that these latest email revelations are an Andy Coulson inspired operation. Coulson is good, but he is not that good, (though maybe Coulson tells his bosses different, got to justify that salary somehow).  Guido plays the tunes to which Coulson dances – don’t confuse the monkey with the organ grinder.

UPDATE : Paul Waugh mocks Marr: “It used to be called Breakfast with Frost. But Peter Mandelson just turned it into How to Eat Marr for Breakfast.”

Sugar on Brown

Video Credit :  The Crown

UPDATE :  Sugar has just told Marr that he will be a Labour peer.   If he takes the Labour whip, and proselytises for them, surely that is incompatible with him having a prime-time television show?  Oh, this is the BBC…

UPDATE II : Congratulations to Sugar on winning that £30 million contract to supply computers to the Office of Government Commerce last month.  Handy when your property portfolio has taken a huge battering…

What Mandelson Really Thinks About Brown

MandyThe old joke that you can tell when Peter Mandelson is lying – his lips move, still holds true. While Mandelson is in the broadcast studios telling a sceptical voting public that Gordon “is the best man for the job” in reality he thinks otherwise.

In private, as the Mail on Sunday reveals, his view is very different, in candid emails discussing the mental state of Gordon Brown he is damning, calling Gordon “insecure, self-conscious physically and emotionally, uncomfortable in his skin and angry”.

In other words, psychologically flawed.
