+++ Margaret Moran Paying Back £22,500 Dry Rot +++
Margaret Moran, Labour MP for Luton South, has announced she will pay back £22,500 claimed to treat dry rot in the house in Southampton (100 miles from her Luton constituency) that she shares with her partner as a result of “constituents’ anger at the current fees regime”. Constitutents anger with her more like.

Discharged seamen?
It’s starting: PAY IT BACK…PAY IT BACK..PAY IT BACK…
Prison still works
She’s probably pledged her £40k redundancy package for a loan to pay it off. Does she bank with RBS?
I’m just impressed she thinks she can AFFORD to pay back £22,500 on a salary of £60k…obviously she’s been on the fiddle even more than we realised.
Andy@130 -
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to hear that it’s at the rate of £1/week.
Didn’t I read somewhere that although it’s £64K (or whatever) basic, the total package is worth something like £350,000 each, when you add in all the extras, secretarial allowances, research allowances, etc?
Those research allowances need looking at, as well… seeing that quite a few researchers seem to be working for no pay…
I see Stephen Fry is saying its all no big deal… that everyone fiddles expenses. Of course, he is a man who was imprisoned for credit card fraud, so maybe his judgment is a *little* different to the rest of us.
“6 Months is a long time”
so 3 months is half a long time
You’re all being very hard on us Honourable members. These perks are important. How else are poor, ignorant untalented people meant to get loadsamoney ?
My take is the whole thing is a Snotty Jimmy plot. Forgive the plug but it may offer a new slant on this whole mess.
what about the fucking interest
At “official rate” of 10% I trust !!
50% minimum. This will teach them to up the top rate. Can’t pay, will swing.
What about the fucking interest?
It was Richard Timney who watched tax payer paid for porn
234 UK and foreign troops and civilians have lost their lives under British command in Iraq. If we have followed the “rules” all would still be alive today. Fucking Nu-Labour bastards…
‘Old C’unt’: What about the 1 million plus Iraqis who have been murdered?
Don’t suppose they count with Hoons like you.
The difference is the 234 British personnel had a choice, Nuremberg saw to that.
Well said comrade Robespierre. it was all the fault of the soldiers on the ground, fuck allto do with TC Blair and his cheshire cat of a slag wife climbing into bed with the US oil barons or anything.
Peace’:
That’s quite some spin you’ve put on my comment.
Are you an Honourable Member?
Is that you Geoff?
Robespierre,
My my, you really are a one note donkey.
You can kiss my ass.
Neigh!
You donkey.
Just for fun, let us count the minutes it takes the dimwit Robspierre to come up with a response.
I am sure the response will not be worh the wait.
He is a one note donkey after all, we shouldn’t expect too much from the water carrier.
61 mins
There you go.
But if thats your idea of fun, you really need to get out more.
67 mins.
There you go, worh (sic) the wait?
If that’s your ides of fun, you really should get out more.
Such thin gruel you are serving, watercarrier.
I have been elsewhere but I am glad you have stayed and been hanging on my every word.
What a good donkey you are.
Come again
ot can anyone put up a link to mandlbum peice in the gaurdian other day
ot again byt shouldnt guido change quote of the day to quote of the week as it hasnt changed
freddie flintoff – I have been trying to find any reference to the interview Mandlebum did on the tv at the weekend saying that all this expenses nonsense was just a nasty tory smear.
It would seem that any reference to this interview has been removed – no doubt at the insistance of Lord ‘Goebbels’ Mandelbum. He was trying his best to spin the story but it failed. There is not one journalist following this story up – I wonder why?
cheers i cant find comments must have been good then
This what you’re after?:

no its the one where he says the pm isint worried about cleaner but getting on with the job was 2 days ago
Now is a moment for the Queen to do what we all want and dissolve parliament.
If only this was my idea, but it came from my wife in yet another conversation about who the ‘eck would we have in power anyway. I volunteer.
The Queen will demonstrate that she has listened, we won’t stand for it and she will stand up for us.
We can recover some national pride, enjoy the disarray and await the emergence of someone worthy.
By the way, we’ll be out of the European Political Union in short shrift and remain in European Free Trade Area (EFTA). So vote for me.
Yeah, right.
The incoming Government shoud look at the provisions of the Proceeds of Crime Act and take the lot to Court and order them to pay the money back on pain of imprisonment.
The matter can be done civilly without the need for a criminal conviction for fraud.
The swimming pool bills being refunded are only a few hundred pounds – loose change compared with the many tens of thousands of pounds claimed by flipping second home status. This is money that too should be paid – and don’t forget the CGT that has been stolen from UK Taxpayer!
Apparently her “partner” lives and works in Southampton, so it’s all OK
Except his business is registered in Luton.
*cough*
Hang the bitch
what business is that
World class trougher.
she sure is an ugly old bitch
She’s a pig-faced Huhne who I want to see slowly sliced in to fucking salami.
… or chipolatas (that’s all there is folks!).
Bloody hell, she’s desperate to get re-elected. Let’s hope that is £22,500 down the drain then.
Or maybe, just maybe….Unless she has been threatened with prosecution?
Are we going to be shown the cheque after it’s been cashed the the treasury,I mean we have to have a bit of trust these days.
Yes, will she have to “take advice” on the best means of paying back like the 600k for Abrahams?
It was AD 2004 when the Smellygraph first fingered Ms Moran, so I would not, as the vulgar say, hold your breath in expectation of an early remittance. Expect an ongoing “The cheque is in the post” situation.
I hope she’s been threatened with prosecution. Paying the money back is the first requirement. Now where is her resignation and when will she be voluntarily submitting herself to her local police station for questioning?
I hope that she is a lot more than just threatened with prosecution.
She’s in the same club as Archer for her attempted justification of what she sis, and belongs in the same warm place that he spend so much time not so long ago….
rule #1 – check spelling before hitting the “Submit Coment” button. Of course I meant
what she did above
The appalling parasite Ms Moron’s pissing the £22.5k into the wind…..with a majority of 5,400 it doesn’t matter very much what she does, assuming of course that she doesn’t get de-selected by her local party anyway. Talking of deselection, any bets on that happening to the half-wit ginger biker (on the basis that Salford will even elect a corrupt wheely-bin if it’s coloured red)?
An ‘ON YOUR BIKE HAZEL’ CAMPAIGN might work
Stick a red rosette on a pig. That was a Salford reference.
Who is going to check whether or not she does?
Den Dover.
Caroline Spelman
Derek Conway
probably the same people who vet the payback to Abraham.
Will it be Monk d’Wally d’Honque?
Damian McBride and Derek “Dolly” Draper are both looking for highly paid posts where they can use their expert know-how to spin and cover up all this cess.
Does the repayment include interest and the penalty for late payment? Thought not.
You sound like a Revenue or ex-Revenue person
Hope HMRC are watching closely
I hope they are acting, not watching.
We are always watching
anything good on?
does it matter? she has effectively pleaded guilty to fraud, time for plod tio do his duty.
GREAT WORK GUIDO – You see, the ‘court of public opinion’ is still a very strong influence.
Now let’s get to work on Mr Speaker…
UPDATE: Table Office has just approved some text for a suitable motion.
Keep up to date with the Link to Carswell
He’s bottled it – just you wait and see.
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/2009/05/12/commons-speaker-michael-martin-under-fire-after-expenses-rant-86908-21351916/
We live in extraordinary times especially for the Daily Retard printing this!
IF she is going to pay it back, this must be an admittance of guilt, I am sick and tired of hearing I will pay it back, I don’t think the courts would give an innocent verdict if someone used the ‘Sorry I will pay it back’ defence. She is guilty full stop, I don’t fucking care if she is going to pay it back. Prosocute her.
hear, hear. Deterrent, Retribution, pour encourager les autres whatever. Law givers and law makers cannot be allowed to escape the consequences of the law. It’s the only test of whether they’re really addressing this.
Quis custodiet, old horse. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes, as we say in SHuhnehorpe. Let’s hope that it’ll be Holloway prison wot custodiet this particular custos, and that, uniquely in view of her particular crime, she’s sentenced to pay for her own accommodation..
Desparation! Now more momentum needed to be rid of Martin
So, is this now the new law of the land?
Get caught thieving, pay it back, get let off. And if you don’t get caught then trouser it and still get off.
It is the Continental way. We’re all Europeans now.
Cest la vie
Desparation. She must have watched play backs of her interviews which really were pathetic. Now please can we be rid of “Speaker” Martin, who is not very good at speaking. Pratt.
I used to enjoy watching the antics of that typical jock, Rab C Nesbit. I used to watch it with Ceefax 888 sothe dialogie was translated into English.
When the broadcast parliament could the BBC arrange subtitles when a jock speaks. Especially when that joke, sorry I meant jock speaker speaks.
Now thinking about it, with all the jokes, sorry, jocks that represent English constituencies the subtitles will be on all the time.
What about the third and fourth homes, including the one in Spain where she tried to bar the locals from using a right-of-way to get to their village? Surely the voters of Luton South will kick the fucking corrupt slag out next June.
corrupt fat slag if you don’t mind
It seems to me that the country has gone all ‘Princess Diana’ again. But I find the current orgy of self righteousness even less appealing than the orgy of tears when Di died.
The political journalists know the score and, if I was an MP, I’d be a bit annoyed that they are joining the lynch mob.
Calm down people; it really isn’t that big a deal.
Mortar Manager
Tebbit has made some interesting recommendations:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1180711/Lord-Tebbit-defies-Tories-tell-voters-Dont-vote-ANY-party-European-elections.html
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/david_aaronovitch/article6268941.ece
Read this and grow up the lot of you.
Dave “Squealer” Aaronovitch, the epitomy of a useful idiot, always there to do New Labour’s bidding. Velly leriable.
yeah, he was slated by members of the public on 5 live this morning, another one with his head up his arse. And don’t tell me to grow up you fucking retard.
Hoddles – Grow up.
How much are these MP’s claiming a year including salaries? The admirable Ian Duncan was taking £85,000 a year in total. Is this really too much?
You are being hoodwinked by Guido and the press who are all looking to bolster their reputations by being “OUTRAGED!!!!!!!”. What ever happened to thinking for yourself?
The point, since you clearly missed it, is that we pay our MPs expenses so that they can carry out their parliamentary duties on our behalf. We do not provide these expenses as a perk.
Aaronovitch (and you) may be happy to see the taxpayer ripped off in this way, but I think you will find that you are in a very small minority on that issue.
Stevelux, do not presume to tell me if I am thinking for myself or not, if I am feeling otraged at this blatent fraud, then it is because I am outraged, I am not ‘hoodwinked’ as you call it, as an adult I can read reports and make my own mind up, and my mind tells me that these so called honorable men are corrupt…..and by the way they knew the fucking salary when they took the job, if I went to my boss and asked for a large payrise due to the fact I think I am worth it, I would get laughed at, same if I abused my expenses (of which all must be receipted).
I’m with you stevelux
Get a grip, people. Calm down. Nobody’s died.
Yeah….and grow up.
If it was a Tory issue, Aaronovitch would be right in there talking about morality, greed and corruption etc. But because his mates in the Labour Party are up to their necks in it he’s saying that the British Public are going a bit far and we need to lay off them etc. Bollox.
‘grow up’?
MPs deal in the very stuff of trust – life and death issues, like MOD resourcing etc. It’s not an easy job, granted; it really isn’t but then neither is my job. People have to be able to trust in those who do hard and difficult things for them.
It’s not about the money – we can argue about the cost and the greed all day it’s about integrity.
To sign for an expense or allowance claim knowing that the statement they are putting a signature to is false is an act which cannot be tolerated in those who are charged with such great responsiblities.
I don’t actually want MPs prevented from troughing their expenses and allowances by a vigilant system; I want MPs who have enough integrity not to do it even though they could. And I want them to do it not for fear of being exposed but because they know in their heart of hearts that it would be a wrong thing to do.
And we plainly haven’t got such people.
The system is not a bad one actually; it just needs properly administering and it needs to be totally open. Let them claim for whatever they want, but let them do so in the full glare and knowledge of the people whose taxes are paying for it.
The damage to our culture is deeper than they seem to realise.
Sad days.
Missing the fucking point, it’s theft, these are the people we rely upon to be morally upstanding. The fact this has happened is absolutely fantastic in that it enables us for the first time to actually evaluate for ourselves which of our MPS (when they thought they had no chance of ever getting caught) were willing to defraud the taxpayer. We prosecute single mothers who claim extra benefits, fucking hundreds of thousands of tv-license evaders, we complain we can’t afford to supply our men in afghanistan with anything other than “snatch” deathtraps, this indicates a blasé attitude towards public finances, these are the people we RELY ON to give us good value for money and eliminate waste, if they privately decide to steal taxpayers money themselves, are they likely to be the sorts of people who can appropriately allocate funds with minimal wastage?
I want to see the whole fucking lot of them become unelectable, and in a sense, they have – as I said, a fantastic, democratic means of finding out who the shits are.
Rubbish. Being an MP is a job that requires no qualifications and has a great deal of demand – god know how many people stand for selection let alone election for each seat. Supply and demand would suggest MPs are grossly overpaid.
What we need is MPs who know their job and are prepared to do it. All the money in the world won’t get you that, it’ll get you the same calibre of shits we have now but on massive wages. Too many of them see it as a relatively easy life just voting the way the party says, not bothering to debate much, leaving the donkey work to others. The powers of Parliament are meant to be supreme but they have allowed them to wither. There is plenty of work they should be doing but choose not to. Parliament has curtailed hundreds of debates and then MPs claim they haven’t got enough work to do. It’s potty. It’s got to change.
Hear hear! The Aaronovitch piece is as pathetic a piece of attempted justification as Parris’s the other day. Once a politico, always a politico.
Johnny, you’re dead right. Every time one of these plum jobs comes up, there’s a queue round the block to the Selection Committee’s door. Unless, of course, it’s a dynastic thing like Ben “Mole” Gummer being selected in Ipswich to stand against the Labour incumbent – one Chris MOLE!
Unfortunately the party system allows little freedom for MPs unless they choose to rock the boat or two-finger the Whips-which is what they should do when conscience dictates. The other more deleterious thing is that it takes away any need to think or act – just turn up for the votes, do as you’re told and trouser the money. Some of them are too thick to do much else anyway, although I think the majority are possessed of a low cunning else they wouldn’t have got there.
Stevelux’s admonitions about “thinking for yourselves” should be aimed at MPs and not those of us who’ve eyes and wit enough to see through the deceptions being practised upon us!
Read this and grow up the lot of you.
Funny how Labour MPs were quick to condemn Sir Fred Goodwin who did nothing ‘technically’ wrong but then use this same ‘rules’ argument to defend themselves.
I think stevelux, you should try running your own business then seeing how far you get with some of these’ MP’s actions, with HMRC. You or I would be banged up for fraud for some of these claims. It’s you that needs to grow up.
Well I’ve read it.
It is a very poor article, which is trying to defend the indefensible and is offensively condescending.
The comments are more intelligent and more relevant.
An independent panel fixed MPs salaries based on earnings in the civil service but then a spineless government failed to implement this recommendation, encouraging MPs to make up the difference in expenses. This is not “theft” – but the rules are wrong.
Is it right that footballers earn 100K+ a week and our law makers 60K a year?
Think harder for yourselves
stevelux,
The expenses system was cooked up under Michael Foot, seemingly to allow MPs to enrich themselves without having to pay tax on it.
When haven’t MPs had a pay rise? They get what is now the classic public sector treatment – decent wage, fantastically cushy pension and job security that is impossible to beat in the private sector.(We can only remove them at election time)
The comparisons with GPs that some make ignores that GPs spent long hours studying, have very serious qualifications and very serious conseqences when they cock up. MPs suffer none of that. Too much like hard work.
Comparisons with captains of industry are specious too – you can be out on your ear for minor mistakes.
Comparisons with local government heads are specious – they get paid far more than the job deserves and again, there is a line round the block for people who would do those jobs.
stevelux, Very few footballers earn 100k per week plus, this is not a very good example by yourself, MP’s took up the job out of some public duty and were aware of the salary, when I took up my post at work I was aware of my salary, I do not supplement my wages by swindling my expenses department, if I did I would be sacked and prosecuted, simple really. Now you tell me why I would be prosecuted and my MP would not. I look forward to your answer.
Stevelux, footballers earn that amount of money because their clubs choose to pay them that amount of money. Football supporters contribute in a small way when they voluntarily pay their money to go through the turnstiles.
I pay money in tax for the government to exercise stewardship over that money and put it to good use. I don’t expect them to use it for their own pecuniary gain. What a footballer earns is completely irrelevant, he doesn’t work for me, nor have I elected him to represent me on the football field. Your analogy is just shit.
Aaronovitch,30 years ago a national president of the NUS and a hard line marxist,is a true believer that the rules that hidebound small businesses should not interfere with the redistribution of wealth to the political classes. How dare we complain that the rules on deductable expenses, principal residence CGT relief etc which the rest of us have to observe under threat of severe penalties ought to be visited on our betters.
He may think that the acceptance of corruption is grown up.I beg to differ.
If their salaries were based on supply and demand, yes MPs would receive nothing. Is that the point? MPs get voted out too you know.
I’m not defending the current system – it’s hypocritical. But I think UK politicians are basically a decent bunch (if not always very talented) and don’t deserve this humiliation. Compare the talent in the Commons now to 20 year ago – then imagine what a bunch of dorks we will have in 20 years time if this trend continues
We should have a performance related pay scheme, not the Uddin-turn-up-sign-the-book-pocket-the-cash type of performance, but one actually based around what they do. sitting on committees, or think tanks or sub committees wont count either, only proper work. Expenses should be based around need and fully auditable by the opposition parties so as to ensure they keep it to what they actually need. Even Jaquiboots couldn’t fiddle her expenses with the bloodlust of the oppositions staring her in the face.
Comparing footballers to politicians or even politicians to GPs are false analogies
Henry Crun and others make the point that footballers are privately employed and paid from whatever money the clubs have. They are however expected to perform a particular function for the money, which is to win games and entertain the punters-if not, they get slung out or sold off. We are not taxed for footballers, and indeed I would hope the boot was on the other foot in that these people put a fair bit into the Exchequer in tax; though doubtless there is a little reluctance to do so on the part of some.
Comparing a GP to an MP in pay or other terms suggests that there is some interchangeability or valid yardstick of comparative worth. There is of course none, and I would no more consult Gummer on my ingrowing toenail than I would Speaker Martin on the proper use of English and the rightful duties of the Speaker. On the other hand, my GP might be a better judge of matters of day to day morality and correct behaviour.
Not so long ago the duties and responsibilities of MPs were plain and unvarnished. What has caused a lot of the problem is that no-one has had the nerve to face down MPs and dispel this canard that they are “worth” x, y or z and tell them that they are in for public service and will receive £X for undertaking it. Not everything that pays money is a “JOB”.
Perhaps what we need is a Transfer League for MPs, but my personal inclination is to send them to Muckle Flugga or Ascension for re-education.
Their salaries are based on what they USED to do, not what they do now.
70%+ of UK law making has been given to Brussels. If we need documents to be rubber stamped, the post office or librarians seem very efficient.
As has been mentioned earlier, MPs complain they have little to do.
Caution: A massive reduction in the work MPs need to do, generous holidays and un-checked expenses may give rise to an unhappy electorate.
State worshipers are impervious to reason.
Oooh! Socialism’s not working because we don’t have the right targets! We need more targets to create a Bright New Future!
Oooh! Socialism’s not working because MPs aren’t paid enough! We need to pay more to attract the Selfless Heroes of the Revolution with the smarts to create a Bright New Future!
Oooh! Socialism’s not working because of all the cynical reactionaries that accuse proud socialists of being a bunch of venal narcissistic fuckwits! We need to spy on them and arrest them and send them off for re-education, to create a Bright New Future!
And so on ad infinitum.
Probably the best post i’ve seen in the last few days. Bravo.
Correct. We need the Equality Bil so that we can set targets which we know we can reach and therefore look as if we actually did something. And if Georgia Gould does not get a seat she can always have a cushy job.
Dry Rot sums up the House of Commons these days. They all need to be treated.
Only yesterday, this whore was herself threatening to sue.
Looks like she took counsels’ advice. Very wise.
Time to eat humblepie methinks.
probably found out that she couldn’t claim legal assistance
Time to prosecute – I’m a constituent of Luton South – and anger doesn’t even come close to what I feel.
If she can’t do the job in Luton South – quit!
I’m a carer, £44 a week, and not served by a politician who thinks that the family home outside the constituency and Westminister should be paid for by people’s taxes while accusing the mentally ill and their carers of being spongers. Funny – but before I took command of my charges care, she spent 18 months of 3 years in inpatients. Now – there’s no inpatients, no psychiatrists, no community care nurses, nothing – nada – no support.
Thank God my GP is decent, and Nu-Lab want to shut down the community health centres, replace them with ‘Tesco-Doctors’ and ‘Sainsbury-Poly-Clinics’.
Who serves the public, If not the MP? And if the MP doesn’t want to live in her constituency – what then?
Maybe she read my email
I also asked her to resign but not heard anything else
joolz
I emailed her as well. No reply. Just emailed her again to say I want to see a picture of her paying back the money before I believe she did.
I don’t think she will. Fat bitch. Reminds me of my last wife. Always on the take.
The Speaker reminds me of my last wife as well. Same jowls, skin colour. Always on the take.
Was she bald as well?
By ‘last wife’ I hope you have learnt your lesson and mean your lastest ever wife and not the previous one in a series of wives.
I emailed her, but told her not to bother to reply as it would make me physically sick.
My opinion is hopefully in the Luton’s Herald and Post. The letters pages are popular, so there should be at least a debate about the issue, rather then a part-time MP who can’t be bothered to work in her constituency – and then demand that the tax-payers pay for her to avoid her duties.
If she’s been living with her partner for 20/30 years (whatever – longer than 12!), she should’ve known he’s staying in Southampton permanently, and never stood for election in Luton South.
That’s the truth of the matter.
Her partner should write in to tell the local paper how good she is.
Now resign and call an election
Hmmmm – what happened to her threatening, at weekend, legal action against the DT?
Read also the story of her Spanish home, where she had a dispute with neighbours, put a sign on H of C headed paper on the gates, then lost her case at a Spanish court. She put her legal expenses for the dispute (IN SPAIN!!) on her constituency expenses.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mps-expenses/5311182/Margaret-Moran-to-pay-back-money-for-shared-home-MPs-expenses.html
Ouch! Even less doubt now, please someone in Luton call the police and HMRC in on her…
There’s the spirit of the rules, then the letter of the rules, then the ignoring of the rules – Miss Moron is firmly in the latter category
I’m doing precisely that – I have Bedfordshire police live in a flat next to me, along with Met-Police.
They’re not happy about the situation.
You couldn’t make it up.
HMRC Aspect Enquiry, now!
I like particularly the bit where the neighbours jump up and down on her car and then have her hauled into court to be told to re-open the right of way.
Ive just read the bit about her FOURTH home in Spain and her stinking actions against the local populus. She even had the brass neck to take legal action against 2 papers and had the taxpayer pay for it!
She should be arrested immediately and her seat put up for election. She is nothing but a slapping crook
Whaaaa????!!!!
She put her Spanish court costs and fees through her constituent’s expense????
JAIL JAIL JAIL for a loooong time.
Funny how you instantly take a dislike to someone? I’m very glad my “this person is shit” detector is still functioning to optimum level.
She briefly was on Look East not apologising for her constituents’ disgraceful (“Butchers of Basra”) demo for the soldiers’ homecoming parade, although she was obviously thrilled to be on telly and get the attention.
Cheap Bitch.
Cheap Bitch
If only she were.
She is in fact an extremely expensive bitch, (out of my vanishing wedge).
THE SPEAKER AND HIS WIFE NEED TO BE PROSECUTED AND JAILED!
He is a disgusting fraudulent parasite.
Can he not be prosecuted for trying to pervert the cause of justice last year when he spent another £100,000 of our money trying to cover up fraud?
….that 100 grand was of course the ultimate insult and with interest should be docked from lardtub shop-steward Martin’s pension now.
He’s a disgrace to Westminister Parliamentary democracy, but then he’s a Scot Trot.
Cheating hoon cnut, he even sweats gravy form the trough.
57,000
Not NEARLY enough to cause the t..rd to lose any sleep, unfortunately!
Form an orderly queue… only 20 allowed to sign per hour, cos it takes time to find your address via Google Streetview and check whether you are already on the DNA database….
Just 57012
Our American cousins should be asking themselves why good ol’ Charlie Brown keeps getting deleted every time he tries to show his support for the Supreme Leader.
Looks like Michael Martin might be enjoying his last taxi ride at the Tax payers expense too
Dissolve this rotten parliament and call an election
“Mr Clegg is to discuss Mr Martin’s position with his senior MPs this morning”
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23689391-details/Michael+Martin+faces+a+vote+of+no+confidence/article.do
Tebbit can crawl right back into his slimy hole.
Who paid for that slimy hole?
I’m still waiting for £600000 to be paid back by Labour.
And the exact reasons why the CPS decided to turn a blind eye to this clear donation by proxy.
maybe a blind one eyed snot troughing hoon had something to do with it?
In our alleged Parliamentary Democracy, two words sit uncomfortably adjacent: ‘parliamentary’ and ‘democracy’, neither daring to look the other in the eye. In reality we are ruled by a parlocracy, the ‘dem’ bit of less than secondary importance to the members who look after themselves before anything else is even considered.
The continued reign in power of this natively corrupt and inherently corrupting institution, itself now long in the tooth, requires that a well-practised sleight-of-hand continues to work: that we are fooled into accepting that, at the polls, we must make a false choice. Either we are too stupid to notice where the narrowing fences of our corral are pointing us, or we are resigned to the system being the pragmatic necessity it has been in the past but is no longer.
The one choice we should make is the one deliberately pre-wrapped in guilt – not to vote if we are genuinely not drawn to any proffered candidate.
What might make me hesitant about advocating this, despite my convictions, is that nEU Labiah could be let in again – perhaps even with a working majority. Initially, the thought is so repugnant as to make any alternative choice appear as a blessing from heaven.
But what would happen if Labour got back in again? They might have a great stab at renewing. But, hang on, they have already adopted “New”, they can’t plausibly do that again. A purging of their tainted connections with Brown and Bliar will require a long spell out of power, without it they would be haunted, edgy, unearthed, smelly. Their own collapse at the polls is something they should be praying for. They should be grateful for the opprobrium that will be heaped on them for years to come as, out of it, they will eventually emerge.
For us, we need to endure the collapse of the entire system in various bizarre stages. Labour re-elected will help that process speed up.
Vote Labour – unless you are happy with “Parliamentary Democracy”.
I’m happy with Parliamentary Democracy. There’s nothing so much wrong with it as the drivers and many of the passengers that a little change out won’t fix.
Vote Labour? Nice try but you must be mad.
I am, I’m quite barking in fact! I also have a sense of irony and take a sort of perverse pleasure in the idea that it might be better to help Labour back into power to finish the destructive process they have started and as a result eventually end up with a truly revolutionary situation, rather than to get Cameron and keep pretending that the institutions of this country will ever reflect more the will of it’s public than of its masters.
The stakes couldn’t be higher as the technology now available will enable a despotic regime to keep power indefinitely – exactly what ID cards are intended to do. Choose your despotic regime carefully.
Labour are clearly not set to return at the next GE, but they will be back down the line.
As you say Dogger.
Shit covered in sacharine is of no noticable difference in flavour to shit covered in sugar!
Not many people know that! (M. Caine)
How are things at the Ministry of Truth?
A bullet in the brain is not a good cure for a headache.
But it is permanent.
Unfortunately for your point of view, the country has to be fixed, and quickly. We cannot tolerate another Liebour term in office; indeed, unless there is a GE soon the next 12 months could see the destruction of our nation speed up.The only soltion is to vote Conservative, even if you have to hold your nose but we can extract a price from Dave for our votes: sort out the troughers, give us a referendum on Lisbon and promise deep cuts in public spendinf
But why would we be in the invidious position of having to ask them to ‘give us’ anything unless they are the masters and we their slaves? Unless we invert that relationship we will always be voting and then pleading. Just as they see us, in fact – pleading voters. And I’m not an idealist, just don’t see the point of compromise where it can be avoided.
I’m not voting for the Conservatives unless they clear out the thieves from their party. At the moment the Lib Dems get my vote. I fully expect them to get hit next by the DT, at which point my vote will go to someone, anyone, else. If either the Tories or LibDems clear the filth out of their party they will get my vote again – but not before.
If Labour get back in there will be nothing left to save. It really is that simple.
Did not labour come to power the first place because they were the only realistic alternative to the then sleaze ridden Tory party. It wasn’t because of Blair’s fantasy manifesto (I’ll ban private schools but continue to send my own kids there because I can afford it etc). The Anti-Tory brigade came out in force, Billy Bragg et al polluting our television screens with their views trying to persuade those ‘other party’ voters to join the glorious revolution to oust the sleaze ridden yet actually not doing too bad a job Tories. Anything to keep the Tories out. Since then the Not so new after all Labour party has squandered everything, left the country with a big pineapple up it’s arse and the greedy lot are sucking every last ounce of expense out of the trough before they get hoofed out. We’ve also had the hoon revolution whereby we entrust our nation to an incompetent Hoon for whom no one actually voted when he ascended the steps to the leadership. There are still those places within our nation so embroiled with labour that they will vote for them regardless of the mess they’ve made of pretty much everything; for the rest of us to simply not vote or to vote for an alternative is inviting another labour junta to hand us over to Europe. UKIP, Green, monster raving all might seem like good alternatives but if the hoons get power again there’ll be nothing left; I will not waste my vote speculating the nations last hope of salvation.
A slight Labour misappropriation of money is what you get for putting in a LAbour government which represents working class people like me in a way that the evil Tories never could. It is all the fault of Mrs. Thatch!
Hooray and I’d like to think I did my bit with this: Squeal Piggie, Mags Moran on YouTube.
Come on people, it’s nearly had a thousand views.
One more now – Great video and blog post Swiss Bob, she is so far out of order that it’s not funny.
Paying the money back is really not enough in this case -lock her in the Tower the arrogant bitch
The body language was much more eloquent than her chippy protestations of innocence: the high speed blinking, shrugging of the shoulders and arms pushing back the accusations. She has swivelled with great speed from talking about entitlement to repaying the cash
Ah, but why did she claim it in the first place? And would she pay it back if the public didn’t know about it? Somehow, I doubt it!
Shoplifter apprehended as she walks across the car park. ‘I’ll pay for it. It’s your fault for making it so easy. Look, can’t we sort this out?’
Magistrate: ‘Six months. Take her down.’
Reminds me of the couple who won the lottery (c£70k) recently but claimed some benefits afterwards. Inadeqaute types, not out and out scroungers, so they paid back the money – about £10k (G Brown “cleaining” bill + Hazel Blears’ annual TV budget) . Judge threw the book at them anyway. Can we line up the same judge for Moran, Smith, Blears, Martin and yes, Brown too? Shouldn’t take long.
Still looking forward to the Balls/Cooper double-act file.
I cant sleep (at nights)
Let it be soon
Let it be good
Let it be awesome
The DT must be saving it
If not they’ll have to make it up!!
Could it possibly be true that Ed has been shagging Caroline Flint?
That would be a triple whammy.
This woman is an example of the squalid types who have jumped aboard the New Labour gravy train. She is utterly odious. Hypocritical socialist scumbag.
She is probably not even a socialist – most of the lot that jumped onto the New Labour bandwagon are just spivs and chancers – or people who would be unemployable in the real world ( hello Jacqui )
I agree.
Oh I dunno she looks a bit like the frumpy stroppy cow who owns the dog kennels up the road.
Only dogs give bitches like them unconditional love, you see.
She is the archetypal socialist.
Haven’t you realised that yet?

Motion of no confidence in speaker from Douglas Carswell. Motion of no confidence in Parliament….the people of Britain!
About time I owned up.
About 60 years ago I used to creep round the back of our corner shop get a few empty bottles and them take them in to claim 3d for returns.
BUT I wouldn’t have had to do it if my parents had paid me the correct pocket money in the first place.
My problem now is that the Corner shop has gone and probably the shopkeeper as well. What should I do?
declare it to HMRC?
Just tried but they can’t compute what I owe them
Throw yourself on the mercy of the voters and pray for salvation?
After this I’ve given up with GOD and I can’t manage to run one house let alone two
It was the shopkeepers fault for making it easy to take the bottles. You could not help yourself.
you’ve got away with it. Have you considered becoming an MP?
Paolo the Peasant got 6 months in the slammer in the 1950s for pinching empty bottles. I’d watch my step if I were you.
Put in your MP’s expenses. Next time, use gloves too so do not leave fingerprints or DNA as evidence.
Surely they will have been recycled a few times by now
If you want a serious answer, make a monthly standing order to a decent charity.
Help for heroes might be a good choice.
Sent £10 when he finished the Marathon
O/T and a blatant plug, but he’s 150 grand short of his million pound target.
http://www.justgiving.com/philsmillion
Maybe any MPs reading this should think about donating some of their dodgy expenses to this worthy cause.
I lost my job last month but I still gave something to him after crying as I watched the story on the news.
Are you hoping to be sentenced to Transportation to Australia to get away from this awful mess?
Has Guido the inside knowledge on the other MP’s currently being investigated by the Met?
Is this why the Hoon way to make a million has been delayed?
What can be done about the unspeakable speaker? Can’t the commons force the moron to resign? Bring back Betty she wouldn’t of put up with this
Why, when it comes to politicians, do we consider resignation?
SACK THE BASTARD
JAIL THE BASTARD
HANG THE BASTARD
FFS
Joanna Lumley for Speaker?
hehe.. I was thinkin maybee i shold buy a lot of things on the internet lets say for aproximatley 22 000 pounds and just sent the bil too Gordon Browne and the english parlament. I wil for sure not bee arested by the polise in england.
Labour peer Lord Foulkes turned on a BBC presenter Carrie Gracie demanding to know how much she was paid during a live interview on MP expenses.
It gets better and better. BBC Expenses next.
“Gordon darling, the garbage man is at the front door”:
“Tell him we don’t want any Sarah love”
Perhaps the BBC will now check whether Foulkes, who’s also an MSP like Martin’s son, is double troughing.
The country is in trouble: politics and public sector jobs are seen by (below)average people to make above average money from below average hours. This has major consequences for future productivity and wealth growth.
BBc expenses should be on public view
Andrew Neil has already offered to do so on the Daily Politics
Interesting to see the hatchet job on the Conservatives – no mention that the £’000s being troughed doesn’t even come close to the PLP’s membership.
From what I can see Margaret Moran with £22,500 has bested all the Conservatives.
F***ing BBC – where’s the impartiality?
I don’t know who was funnier. That Arse Foulkes Blaming the BBC, or the bimbo fessing up to clearing 92k for reading an autocue!
I thought she memorised it all
AND
Some of those newsreaders ‘job share’ reading alternate lines to keep us on the ball
Just watched the clip of Baron von Foulkes sake, he is such a desperate trougher, gives an idea what the Scottish Parliament has to put up with and the Scottish people. He is a laughing stock in Scotland as he for ever using FOI to try and get at the SNP Government, but ends up with yuet more egg on his face
The bastard Foulkes has been on Sky asked the pretty Charlotte if she was an expert on the Speaker when she asked a question. What a tosser
lots of people toil away doing jobs they don’t like -but have to- for minimum or low wages.
they should be paid more and have to deal with more and more crap piled on them from above.
but they do not steal from the till-or claim expenses ie cannot…….
they cycle to work or wait in the cold for expensive buses or trains.
no chauffeurs for shopping trips…..
our mps are thieves…….no other description.
the rules are not the problem. their dishonesty is the problem.
sack them all .try them in harriets court of public opinion.
i think they would get more than 12 days!
The practice of parachuting loyal party hacks into safe constituencies can’t help. If the Member for Loamshire North actually came from north Loamshire, it would be clear that his or her home in Loambury Parva would be the main residence and the flat in London would be secondary. If this person actually comes from Islington or Notting Hill there’s even more scope for fiddling.
I would make it a pre-condition for standing in an election, be it parliamentary, regional, conty, district, local, etc., that the candidate can prove his home (with his family if he has one) has been in the constituency for the five years prior to the election.
Gosh, that would mean Daddy would have to buy one a little pied-a-terre in all sorts of places. Might be a bit of a hoot, what?
Good one – and if he needs to move house, his parliamentary party pays for all the costs – not us.
In fact if he needs a second home in London, his party can pay for it too.
And expenses should be “actuals” – £4.50 for a Big Mac and large fries, not a blanket £50 misc expenses or something.
And just above where MPs sign, the claim form should read:
“I confirm that the above expenditure was wholly, exclusively and necessarily incurred in the performance of my duties”
Which means all moats, second homes, tampax, dog food, tudor beams, bath plugs, porn and Ikea plastic bags, claimed for by an MP is automatically confirmed as fraud – by the MP.
East Worthing and Shoreham here I come
Ex-drug dealer says he can help MPs with their expenses claims
I’m sorry, but paying it back is not enough. The thieves should resign or get sacked.
no just shoot in the arse and then ask em how they like being fucked
Spot on, Freddie. Mind you I’d just twat the bastards. Works every time.
or chop ther dicks off and stick em on there forehead and for da wimmin a bat in the mouth
Trouble is – I think Moran would enjoy it!!
has anyone thought of blowing the place up
at least if you’re fucking her from behind you don’t have to look at her fucking face
The deeds to all MP’s nominated second homes should be transferred to the Crown immediately and remain so until HMRC have audited each and every MP to determine their financial liability. Any second homes in joint names should attract only half the normal allowance.
2 thoughts:
Has she any realistic prospect of re-election anyway? Martin Bell type candidate in Luton perhaps.
Also when she says pay it back, does she actually mean that after searching her conscience she has decided to declare that the constituency house was her second home and can you look at £20k worth of receipts for that instead please
What the Martin ” Omerta” Bell who sat through the Parliament when all of this was going on and said nothing ?
The Martin Bell ” man of the people ” who stood against Eric Pickles in the last GE and not aginst Mandelson, Blair etc. because they were squeaky clean ?
The Martin Bell who, once again wants to stand against a Tory ( Winterton ) at the next GE because he likes the stench of those in power ?
If he stands in Luton it will only be to help keep Moran in her seat.
If they pay back what they should we would need to raise another FOI request to get the details.
Perhaps it might be better to open a website http://www.Ihavedonated“.org.uk for them to post details of the ammount they have donated to a named charity. The charity coud then post a comment saying £x,000 duly recieved.
I would be happier with this rather than in just went back into the same coffer to be wasted again
Where are all the suicides…….I was so looking forward to MP’s bungee jumping off the roof of Westminster without an elastic cord.
You can’t believe in a word the Labour spin machine says
One down, 600-odd to go.
I’m still waiting for Gordon to pay back his dodgy expenses. After all, he apologised, didn’t he? So he knows it was wrong, doesn’t he? What’s he waiting for?
BTW, just seen the interview with George Foulkes this morning. What an utter twat.
———BREAKING NEWS ———BREAKING NEWS ———
SPEAKER MARTIN LAMBASTS RABBIE BURNS
After yesterday’s extraordinary scenes in Parliament it is reported Speaker Martin is further entrenching his position by seeking to ban all the works of Rabbie Burns. Martin was incensed when he heard the first line of Ode to Mouse “ O wee sleekit cowering timorous beastie” and claimed it was an attack on his performance yesterday.
A Scottish MP who did not wish to be identified wore an IKEA carrier bag on his head. “ That Rabbie Burns he’s a hypocrite, he has a big listed house in the middle of Dumfries and another in Alloway both paid out of the public purse and he dares to attack Michael for his few wee flats in Central London. Burns he’s an SNP Toory – it’s a disgrace – you only have to read his works to see he know nothing about Scotland !
By the way can I have my 5p back , 5p’s 5p, you know ? “
NHS officials breathed a sigh of relief when the threat to close all hospital burns units was revoked their pupose having been explained to Labour MPs. Said one doctor after his 37 hour shift “ we only call it the NHS to help the politicians spell it”
Rabbie Burns died in 1796 and is the owner of Scotland’s only turning grave. The curator said “ he’d been to Glasgow many times and clearly knew what was coming ”.
Downing St:
Prime Minister”fully supports Speaker”
So it’s all over for Martin.
Who’s next?
Brown has now beaten Foot again, as well as the lowest ever ratings, he’s going for the longest suicide note in history record.
Don’t worry. The trap door of my gallows will only support him for a few seconds.
A small comment below this article on the Scottish Daily record site that made me think.
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/2009/05/12/commons-speaker-michael-martin-under-fire-after-expenses-rant-86908-21351916/
“Brown’s own brother needs investigating into his lobbying for EBF and the susequent awarding of multi million pound goverment contracts”.
Are you looking into that one Guido?
Tip of the day for all MP’s contemplating suicide:
Q: What is the surest way for an MP to commit suicide?
A: Gather all your expense claim forms into a pile and jump off the top.
Why cant we have a proper coup de’etat like they have in all the other banana republics, with tanks rolling and all that kind of stuff? Why are we such total wimps?
In this country we do revolutions over cups of tea and cucumber sandwiches.
The end result is the same but it’s less messy.
…cause Milibanana cornered the market in bananas, that’s why and now he’s reported to be running for PM again!
The state has slowly drawn the teeth of the population over the last 100 years.
After training a citizen army for 2 world wars, the establishment has been very cagey/worried about a proper coup d’etat. Even Stalin was a great deal more circumspect after WW2 in case he really upset the proles – only reason Zhukov did not vanish.
Prior to WW1 it was quite common for the populace to be armed, even throwing personal weapons to the police as they chased armed criminals (think Dr Watson and his trusty revolver, Sherlock and his swordstick).
See the story of Churchill’s bodyguard. While out working one day a peeler was doing his best to apprehend some scum. Our hero joined in and gave one of the crims a battering and frogmarched him down the local nick. He was summoned later to the Police Station where he was presented with a pocket watch by the police – and an application form – “You are sort we need in the force”.
These days he would have been jailed, charged, his DNA taken and sued by the crim involved.
So we cannot have a proper coup d’etat with tanks, lynchings and firing squads – we have been deliberately disarmed, disorganised and demoralised by the state.
Mind you though, would be bloody good entertainment to watch the troughing swine run in a blind panic, dropping money everywhere, blubbing for mercy as they are strung up on the nearest lampost for some mid-air tapdancing!!
No money to service the tanks.Coincidence?
Can I have my banana back?
Some MP’s do require certain costs of having to live in or close to London to carry out their work. However, some of them have made a mockery of what they ought to claim as opposed to what they can claim (ie – what they can get away with). They closed their eyes and minds to the fact that the money was provided by taxpayers and so they ought to have been very careful indeed with their claims.
Some MP’s must surely have kept their claims to the minimum possible and have not had their moats cleaned, or flipped properties etc and it would be very helpful if Guido or the Daily Telegraph would list these people. We would then know who to vote for in the forthcoming general election, people of integrity or those who pursue their own interests above that of the taxpayers..
Bit OT, but I wonder what the Telewag has on the Lib Dems? They’ve not had much of a pasting yet, and I can’t believe they’re all lillywhite. Bulk claims for scatter cushions and joss-sticks, perhaps?
Sandals and beanshoots?
beard trimmers, plaster to repair their nhs specs, rainbow striped jumpers, prog-rock cds, self help dvds, huge fucking dildos ( hello Mark Oaten ), organic muesli…
Corduroy elbow patches?
A twin bed for Opik?
New dog for Norman?
** chuckle **
is this the same MP that was all over the tv studios at the weekend bleating about how she had done nothing wrong and that she was considerring legal action against the telegraph?
Yes
Ulster is unavailable to comment on this question
As Student I established that I could drink for free all evening if I turned up at a party with a carrier bag containing two house bricks and eight empty cans.
I have carried those moral principles into adulthood.
That’s where my bricks went then. Bastard
Bet it was someone else’s carrier, as well.
The aptly name “Home Secretary”, having a number of them, homes that is, is one of the highest ministerial offices in the land, repsonsible for:
crime reduction
security
counter-terrorism
immigration
civil emergencies
expenditure issues
She is also the ministerial adviser on parliamentary affairs
Yes straight from her gov.uk website:
http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/about-us/organisation/ministers1/jacqui-smith/
Responsible for “expenditure issues”.
That 89p bath plug is going to be the most expensive expenditure she has ever paid in terms of her political carreer.
Hertford College Oxford…..not Balliol material then!
…and, obviously, 1983 was not a vintage year for entrants to Hertford (it’s just along New College Lane, I think…)
Smite them, oh mighty smiter!
D not B
Pfew. That’s alright then. No corruption at all.
The UK is a dull country.
Don’t speak with your mouth full
So blow me
I love you.
In all this hullabaloo & the MSM’ dead tree press feigned indignation, let us all take a moment to reflect upon the one blog, the one media outlet that has consistently highlighted the troughing pigs on all sides in the mother of all Parliaments.
Take a bow Guido Fawkes.
Without Order-Order.com, I for one would never have guessed at the scale & depth of the gilt lined troughs of Westmonster.
Apologies are not enough.
Paying back the money is not enough.
Dissolve Parliament.
Seconded
I declare that the motion is carried, nem. con.!
Unless there is something dishonest going on at HMRC all MPs should be paying taxes on everything they claimed on expenses. Lots of them have trouped to the microphones to tell us their salary of circa £64,000 was not enough and the expenses was a way of nodding through the increased salary they did not want us to know too much about. It is an open and shut case they admit they were using a system of “Benefits in Kind” to up their salary to something more akin to what they perceive to be a fair wage for the job. “Benefits in Kind” are all taxable.
It could not be more transparent all the extra money was salary by another route and should be subject to tax for every year it has been in operation. If they had increased their salary to £149.000.99p ( they wouldn’t want to pay tax at 50%) then they would have paid tax on every penny above the limit of their tax allowances.
Now the HMRC must have been aware of this dubious and fraudulent activity practised by almost all MPs, why have they not acted before now? They have had two well placed whistleblowers, namely Gordon Brown and then Alistair Darling who could have and should have alerted them, if by some oversight they were not up to speed on what was happening through the dodgy tax avoidance scam that was being operated in Parliament.
Over to you Guido, use your contacts to get the HMRC story from those at the workbenches not the glib party line from some pin-suited Brown-Noser.
I thought their salary was circa £95,000.
I suggest Dave (and Clegg) use tomorrow’s PMQ to make statements that they can see no closure on this issue until the electorate get a chance to demonstrate their confidence or otherwise in their individual MPs. They should ask the prime minister to agree to call a general election with a time frame that allows constituency parties of all sitting MPs to determine urgently whether or not they want to replace their candidate in light of full information about their expenses and any related claims in cases where a partner is also an MP- not whatever the Telegraph has selected in the interest of selling the paper. MPs will be able to have a full hearing from their constituents.
All this should be achieveable by late September – allowing for a fresh, untainted HOC in time for the October session.
Top post! Agree completely!
Agreed.
Are you related to XXXXX by any chance
No, I am Dr Foster’s offspring
I can just see Brown’s eyes bulging at this suggestion. Or eye.
He has two Dogger, and regularly swaps sockets thereby enabling him to maximise his expense claim for contact lenses.
Excellent idea, and the only clear way forward I believe. A new HoC with at least 50% new members, selected since this scandal began would be the fresh air that foostie old building needs.
Indeed. I’ve done a trawl of the dodgy conservatives and they are all in safe Tory seats (these might not quite be so safe as things stand — but that is up to the constituencies to decide) also they are nearing the end of their careers and would need replacing anyway. I’m excepting Gove from this — he flipped once for genuine reasons and hasn’t sold on for profit.
Come on Dave and Nick do the right thing. We want a nice squeaky clean Conservative government with a LibDem opposition for Christmas 2009.
Too little, too late – trying to save her skin. She must still be deselected – clearly she is not fit to be a representative of the people!
Anybody know the email address for the Constituency Labour Party – so we can get a statement of intent?
This whole corrupt mess has at last alerted us all to the greed, graft and gutter morality of our elected representatives. But this is the tip of the iceberg
Let attention now be focussed first on the Local Councils that are run by a cabal of crooks with their overpaid salaries and pension funds boosted with back handers and bribes and then finally on the biggest gravy train of the lot The European Union where the Welsh Windbag spent years tring to prevent Marta Andreasen from doing her job. She is standing for UKIP and will get my vote.
Our local Planning Dept is a shocker! You can more or less do anything you like so long as you’ve got the cash. The ex-CEO has an ocean-going yacht and they all take turns to go sailing with him, it’s incredible.
We are also getting 3 T&G sites dumped on us — although there is a far more suitable location — a huge disused airfield where the fairground people already overwinter. But this airfield just happens to be in or near the same village as the councillor responsible for finding T&G sites lives. She then has the nerve to call us NIMBYs.
Jacqui Smith is Home Secretary; the head of the Home Office.
She certainly is, Homes everywhere.
No mention of Mrs Moron on BBC News at noon – just stuff about Cameron. I would have thought that, for better or worse, an MP paying back £22500 was bigger news than what Dave might or might not do.
the BBC is saying that the cabinet will support Michael Martin
Why ? Is his chair broken ?
Sky now reporting that Gordoon Hoon “Fully supports Speaker of Commons”
Fucking idiot
pish posh
She will just put it on expenses
You wankers
“cos of the anger of her constituents” Bollocks she’s only paying it back in the hope she won’t be done for fraud cos I imagine as far as her constituents are concerned she’s dead meat
Martin and I brought the British government to its knees
Why dont you lot try?
i`m off out to rob a bank but its ok, if i get caught i will just pay the money back…
The theft of so large a sum as £25,000 cannot be overlooked because the culprit – only when caught – has offered to repay the money stolen!
It should be for a judge to say how much or how little this repayment should be taken into consideration when determining her sentence.
Systematic fraud by a holder of high office is a very serious matter, and we should expect to see this reflected in a custodial sentence.
She is less forgiveable than a benefit cheat, because she has no poverty to plead in mitigation. Her motive was greed alone.
There should be no place for crooks like Margaret Moran in the government of the United Kingdom.
So if MPs get caught stealing from the taxpayer, all they have to do is pay it back. So that’s OK then? No it’s not good enough.
If I got caught stealing on this scale I would probably end up in the slammer, which is where these dishonourable bastards belong.
I am wondering when Cameron the man of principle is going to pay back the gain he has made on his Cotswold country cottage purchased in 2000/1 and funded by the tax payer to the extent of a £300k mortgage. Puts Mrs Moran’s little fiddle into some perspective I fear.
Why don’t you advise Gordon to call an election then?
Not at all, the Cameron place is his second home. The money might be steep, but he’s played the system legitimately.
Moran charged for a place in Southampton – nowhere near Westminister, or her constituency of Luton South.
That’s perspective!
I see taking interest free loans to fund your expenditure good – doing it directly bad although financial result is similar. Its that old Tory principal – its not what you do but the way that you do it – I presume?
And who is the better off as a result??
When did the gain crystalise then?
Don’t know yet – but Cameron could sign it across now if he is a man of principle?
House prices have approx doubled in Witney since 2001 so that is approx £300k Dave has made as a result of our interest free loan – can we have it back man of principle??
Anon 2:14 pm.
Dave can only ‘make’ anything on house price increases if he sells or remortgages to a higher value. Has he?
A pledge to pay back any gains when he retires as an MP would be sufficient!
And Tony Blair, Alistair Darling and Geoff Hoon’s as well, I am sure you would agree. At least Cameron only had 1 cottage and didn’t borrow 10 times what he paid for it, as Blair did, or have 4 different second homes, as Darling did.
They all took pretty much near the maximum they were allowed – isn’t the point that how they took their allowances isn’t really of much relevance – all we are doing is trying to distinguish between good and bad presentation. The reality is that most MPs have seen the 2nd Homes allowance as a form of untaxed income rather than as a reimbursement of legitimate expenses and have behaved accordingly. It would seem wrong to only penalise the stupid who couldn’t disguise their deception appropriately.
All these Tory MPs getting caught claiming for moats, tennis courts, dog food etc. really are a little bit thick aren’t they – why didn’t they just remortgage their ancestral piles and then use the money raised to pay their expenses which they were going to pay any way? That way they could have had a return just like Dave’s and be true men of principle.
Sadly Dave has not got the backbone to be a “man of principle”..and half the Tory troughers were at his school..honour among Old Etonian thieves and all that…
When are the 2 BALLS’ expense claims going to make an appearance?
Well, sir. We are laying off the Ballses because they are to be our preferred candidate for leadership of NuLabour once the present incumbent has fallen on his sword. This should ensure a seamless transition into a fourth term and thus keep the Barclay Sisters happy in their patronage of this rag. Hope that clears things up.
Balls & Cooper seem to have been omitted . . . source of the leak not identified . . . . . shurely shome mishtake
Perhaps the only way forward would be to establish of a Truth & Reconcialtion Committee, on South African lines.
MPs and their media enablers who are prepared to testify against Brown’s accomplices and other political criminals who have flourished under the New Labour regime should be given immunity from prosecution in return for their sworn testimony.
To pretend that a quiet word over a glass of sherry – and an injunction never to get caught again – will see the matters of smear and fraud swept under the carpet is not satisfactory, and would make any future government as illegitimate as the Brown oligarchy is now.
A salary of £60,000 a year just for nodding your head and telling lies is a very great deal more than the average weekly wage, and MPs should stop over-valuing themselves. Too long a stay in the pockets of big business has soiled them and made them unaware that they are already over-paid for what they do.
It’s Limerick day, here’s a few on the hot topic of the year.
The scandal of the expenses
by the front and the back benches
heli pads, moats and pools
but it’s all within rules
oh what bullshit says my olfactory senses!!
Our ex deputy leader Prescott
one day had a genius thought
it’s easy it seems
to claim for mock tudor beams
and 2 loo seats for my great big fat bot!!
And while we have loo seats in mind
seems John Reid likes the glittery kind
taxpayers money they waste
on such things of bad taste
how much more fraud will the Telegraph find!!
Seems David’s boys the “Cameroons”
who lets face it are richer than Broon’s
are at it as well

It’s a little-known sub-species of the Limerick (known in Limerick as ‘the Kilkenny’), a sort of free-verse Limerick, with half-rhymes.
Ha! : Told you so
The Tory “Grandees” could easily afford to pay back the money, whereas the Labour “Flat-Flippers”, whose money is tied up in devalued flats, could not. A great opportunity to score points, eh?
Expect Cameron to go on the attack now: “Why can’t they do the same?”
I have the utmost confidence in the speaker, Mucky Martin.
Mucky Martin, Speaker chappie is okdokie.
As an MP of long standing, Speaker Mucky Martin has been outstanding, and I am not interested in his job.
If a vacancy occurs….
XXXX – brilliant
Ironic to think that these wankers have been telking for years about regime change in Iraq etc….
When it was in the UK that there is a real need for Regime Change…
Physician cure thyself…
How and when will anyone know if this money has been reimbursed? Is the Fees Office about to open its full accounts to public scrutiny?
Cleaning a moat eh? Makes you proud to be British. Much classier than those vulgar socialists claiming for women’s clothes, tampons or IKEA bags.
Well, I bought my moat at IKEA. Took ages to assemble it and I had to take it back to the store three times before we got all the right parts.
You should have just gone there for the 50p hot dog…then claimed it on expenses.
Who is the Scottish Labour MP who claimed 5p for a pastic bag please ??! Saw it mentioned in the The Times…
It was intended for Margaret Beckett’s head so I think this claim is entirely justified.
In that case, read THIS Lord Mandy-Pandy and learn
Is it possible Margaret Moran is paying back the £22,500 dry rot expense claim to the Common’s Fees Office because the Bulding Insurance Company are demanding the return of their £22,500 settlement for a dry rot claim at this Southampton address??? H’mmm.
According to Iain Dale Cameron has called a meeting of Conservative Parliamentary Party for 2pm and that he expects Shadow Cabinet members to “voluntarily” repay anything that they’ve claimed which may be within the rules but not within “the spirit” – I assume should anyone refuse that they will be ex-Shadow Cabinet members by 4pm to-day ! .
Doubtless Dave is readying his strike for PMQs tomorrow – asking Brown if any of the Cabinet have done the same and if not why not and if they haven’t why are they still in the Cabinet ?
By the by – McNulty has just been on BBC News Channel ostensibly to talk about the rise in unemployment by 244,000 . Howver when asked he feels that he is still able to undertake his role as a Minsiter notwithsatnding the investigations into his expenses claims – but he would wouldn’y he !
Question.
How you going to know if the cash “is” paid back (and if so when and how and where), you going to ask them to produce a a reciept for you?
Can they claim the repaying thingy back on expenses?
I have learnt not to trust MP’s so it strikes me that if certain MP’s are so abusive to claim for wreathes and horse shit and our glorious leaders have not seen fit to stop this abuse before being found out it naturally follows that they are just as untrustworthy, so anything they say needs verification otherwise I don’t believe them.
MP’s cheat and lie = Proven fact!
Shop lifter was caught “lifting” £5O worth of goods from Sainsburys (yes that Minister’s joint !)
When stopped, she said, I will pay it back honest I will…
The security officer said
“No dear, you are going to Court”..
Shop lifter replies
“But my MP steals and justs pays it back when he is caught “!
Security officer
“MP are allowed to steal, not you my dear”.
WHAT A DISGRACE THIS WHOLE PARLIAMENT HAS BECOME
Apparently her “partner”, Michael (dry rot) Booker is on the electoral roll at Luton, and gives his main address, with Companies House, as 109, Alexandra Ave., Luton.
It appears there has been a criminal conspiracy to defraud taxpayers.
Wiki says, “She is ‘patron’ of [14]E-Quality Networks Limited and her partner, Mick Booker, is Company Director. E-Quality Networks is committed to investing in the regeneration of communities.”
Somebody needs to go through the books of E-Quality Networks and find out exactly where income comes from and where it is spent.
People like Margaret Moran and Michael (dry rot) Booker are usually dishonest in all areas of their life.
E-QUALITY NETWORKS LIMITED
Registered No. 04681524
1 MULLION CLOSE, LUTON, BEDFORDSHIRE, LU2 7XF
This appears to be a domestic property (from Google maps).
Are they paying business rates?
There is no phone number listed for E-QUALITY NETWORKS LIMITED in Luton.
Is it a money laundering operation?
The company blurb is “E-Quality Networks is committed to investing in the regeneration of communities”. This indicated public money is flowing into E-Quality Networks.
Britain has become a kleptocracy under the boot Nu Labour. Somebody should lif the rock on E-Quality Networks and see what kind of filth emerges.
EQuality networks appear to have been reponsible for a government-funded website called Womenspeak, which Margaret Moran claims credit for on her website. So how did her partner’s company (of which she is listed as “Patron” end up getting the contract for that… hmmmm?
After her shambling, abysmal performance on TV last night, the Moran woman should really think long and hard about showing her face in public ever again. She can’t even think for herself – and there are care homes full of people like that!
Moran should be arrested for fraud and stripped of her priviliges. Martin should be sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
Kate Hoey is one of the few Labour MP’s worthy of respect.
+2 for Hoey as she chairs the Countryside Alliance as well. Now if she could forget the leftie stuff, we’d have a winner.
sHuhnehorpe
hehe!
All this returning money should ease the cash flow position at RBS. Is this what they really meant by Government Liquidity?
I heard the pathetic justification Moran made for these costs on TV. She should hang her head in shame.
I thought Martin was about to burst into tears yesterday in The Commons as his judgement was questioned (how dare they). He is certainly under pressure. As the saying goes “what goes around comes around”
On her website, although she admits to 54, she does not appear ever to have had a proper job. You have to ask what she brought to the MP’s job.
The usual litany of local council, MP, bag-carrier to proper ministers (five of them – no fights to retain her services when they moved on, then!).
Many parts of Luton South are poor, which presumably explains why the local NuLab gangsters were able to foist on the electorate (‘always been Labour, me’) a drip like this. After years of neglect many of them will have been eyeing-up the BNP anyway: her legacy may well be to hand them a huge increase in their vote.
She must be looking forward to collecting her gold-plated pension at 55. Worth every penny (not). For what? For serving time, obeying the whip, toeing the line. A true public servant.

Dry rot is funny stuff, I believe. Let’s hope none of the spores attached themselves to her clothing and transferred themselves to her No 1 residence, where she’d be reduced to paying for eradication herself………
Margaret Moron will be ok, because the Hanster has asked me to look after her and I’ve fixed it for her to claim the cost of repayment as “essential public relations costs” so this gesture will not cost her a penny, even my usual 10 grand fee will be claimed back as essential expenses – it’s all “essential” you see. By the way, I’ve also fixed it for the Moron and the Hamster to get jobs as non-exec directors of hospital trusts after they get the boot. They’ll fit in really well there and they can’t make things any worse than they already are!
Did I say that I do not want to be Prime Minister?
Be fair to her, some of the money must have gone on scientific research, it would cost a considerable sum to pioneer having a pigs arse grafted on to where her face used to be.
Where is the problem? She claimed expenses for repairs to her partner’s home. She honestly thought that, because this house is at the *seaside*, she did not have to account for the expenses to the *Inland* Revenue. Boom Boom!
