Tell Gordon to “Just Go”
For those who missed this on Friday evening, here is a reminder. There is a petition on the PM’s official website calling for him to resign.
It was in the hundreds when Guido first highlighted it, it got into the thousands over the weekend. This morning it is above ten thousand.
When people start emailing it around offices it will climb into the tens of thousands. Be patient, the Downing Street database server got overloaded over the weekend and petitioners had to try more than once to register their support.

Notice how Pig Flu is is attacking the G20 nations?
Jonah Brown goes Global.
Too many snouts in the trough.

blatant bribery!..
a good enough reason as any to vote.
You might notice that the petition for the PM to resign has just overtaken another petition for the PM to ‘not support a state funeral for Baroness Thatcher.’
Sickening, isn’t it. Keep spreading the word.
Now sixth 18261 and one has been started calling for him to stay
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/support-the-PM/
not doing so well
8 so far for the competetion…..

:P:P
I am particularly taken with No 46 :James Gordon Brown is an amoral fucking sewer rat the worthless Hoon
This is now on Teh Register. Even Geeks hate him.
It started with The Register.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/04/24/brown_epetition/
Don’t see a follow up piece (yet).
This is heading into unchartered constitutional waters, as much as it undermines parliamentary democracy, I am hoping PMQ’s throws up constructive questioning to help it on its way: Who runs the oversite and how many – Public/Private? What size does the government consider a significant petiton? Can civil servants sign governement petitions from workstations? What was the nature of the annomoly over the weekend of falling numbers? What are grounds for a signatories deletion, are the grounds stricter on this petition?
Are a few that spring to my mind, bound to be others.
Just passed 20,000, will overtake Bletchley Park for a place on the front page in half an hour. An important site, hope something can be done.
FIRST !!!! FIRST!!!! FIRST!!!!!
No…Second
I noticed your name on there Tony, good for you
But I beat him to it.
Keep it under your hat but I am considering making a comeback when Gordon Brown quits as a result of ill health.
Both you and I know it makes sense!!!!
Bugger the media have got hold of it now !!
Mike Smithson, the shrewd political commentator who runs the influential politicalbetting.com website, has put a little money — at 250 to 1 — on Tony Blair being the next leader of the Labour party.
The true odds against such a turn-up for the books must be even greater than that; but so many utterly unforeseen things have happened over the past two years that the return of Blair, who will only be 56 when he celebrates his birthday next week, cannot be completely ruled out.
http://www.independent.ie/opinion/analysis/the-scale-of-the-despair-around-westminster-is-as-great-as-it-has-ever–been-in-peacetime-1720600.html
Knowing what we do now, I should say the Blair days were positively blissful.
Come back President Blairs, your country needs you!
That hoon Blair is up to his neck in it, just like Brown.
Best part of a thousand since midnight. Nothing better to cheer a damp person up on arrival at their desk of a depressing Monday morn….
When I signed up it was standing at 11,666 signatories. When I checked 10 minutes later it was at 11,655 signatories.
Is it signatures or people that are disappearing ?
They’re probably deleting those who’ve been daft enough to contravene the rule about not including ‘other’ text in their names – even though this prevents them, I believe, from re-signing properly from the same email address.
Well, who’s going to walk in the woods to find out?
They have to compensate for the standard Labour voting system. This is the digital equivalent of having someone open up a ballot box and rummage inside for the non-favourable votes, throw them away and then blame everyone else for the reason why the box was tampered with in the first place.
Also it probably doesn’t help when half the people posting their petition call themselves “Damian McBride”, “Derek Draper”, “Tony Blair” or even “Guido Fawkes”.
Big deal Guido you ugly beast.
At least I’ve got talent.
If it gets huge, worth a comment or two in newspaper diary pages, and maybe a crack from Dave at PMQ’s but that’s all unfortunately. No reason not to sign, though and I have.
Ah, you don’t understand the news value of this if it gets huge. I suspect you’re not a journalist, Airey.
Yeah MelP has the troughers sussed already
“…the dogma of political and economic cavemen”
You tell them Mel

Rate this morning so far is approximately 600 per hour, over 50 times faster than the best rival on the site. The Petition is number 12 on the Downing St. site – top five are shown continuously, target for that is about 20,000.
I have received several copies of my circular concerning your link. It would appear that the Conservatives will be flocking to sign!
Which is no surprise……………..roflmao
And Labourites.
No surprise there either…..brouhaha
Brouhahaha!
BROUHAHAHAHA!
Pig fever, pig fever, what happened to Tory headlines, oh yeah, tchshoooow!
Personally, I recommend just copying your whole contact list. You can always say it was a mistake to anyone that moans. Even your boss.
Daily Politics
Tough on sneezes, tough on the causes of sneezes
Over 11K now and has moved in ranking from 15th to 12th today.
Make him the first Prime Minister to be petitioned out of No 10! Should look good on his CV.
He’s got a CV?
Crackpot Value
Complete Vagina
This poll is motoring. A lot of hard work was done over the weekend to get a decent sized core of people to sign up, but now the snowball has momentum and is growing rapidly.
And don’t forget to send Brown your shirt.
Or anything else that begins with ’sh’.
And as Guido says be patient, the Downing Street server was struggling over the weekend when it approach 200 per hour an at one point appeared to reboot.
Between 9 and 10am there were 608 new signatures. Surely something is awry – they must be able to cope with more traffic than that.
This needs a big push – as I’ve pointed out there’s a long way to go before the number of signatures will make anyone take notice: there’s nearly three times as many signatures on a petition about the lifeboat-men’s radio frequencies, for f*cks sake.
And you think Gordon gives a “flying fuck” about the lifeboat men ? But he’ll be pissed off in private about this despite his public pronouncements to the contrary and given the sort of man he is – he cannot conceive why anyone would want him to resign when in his opinion he’s the only man suited to lead the country out of the present mess – which as we know “started in America!” not here and in no way is he responsible in any shape or form for the past 12 years and he’s also doing a great job too in his opinion! AND finally everything is fixed -he’s said so in Parliament – put initiatives in place(it’s not his fault if the majority of applicants don’t meet the criteria is it ? or if there’s not enough money for funding the schemes ?)Ungrateful wretches – “M..m…m…m.m mr Speaker I will take NO lectures from the electorate !”
Erm, that’s actually an important petition. The RNLI (this would also effect other marine charities) was being asked for £260,000 a year for a licences to continue using their VHF radio.
The RNLI is run on charitable donations (it should actually be covered by the government) and cannot afford to be paying the government this sort of money. It was another one of McSnot’s back door stealth taxes.
Road_Hog: I’m a sailor myself, and I know how important it is – I signed it already.
The point I’m making is that we shouldn’t all be patting ourselves on the back and giggling about how clever we’ve all been just yet. We should be spamming our contact lists for more sigs.
At the moment the F*ck off Gordon petition is moving up into 12th position – it needs to be at #1 by a substantial margin before it gets any traction in the “real” world.
RNLI should *not* be run by the government – it is a fine example of how government isn’t needed to run every last fucking thing in the country.
Fuck the public sector – if they aren’t needed for lifeboats then they aren’t needed for 90% of the other things they find to waste our money on.
The public are perfectly capable of making their own spending decisions.
The life boats are staffed by volunteers, none of whom are paid a penny. They risk their lives in appalling circumstances to save those in distress at sea. They are heroes whose sea boots Gordon Brown is not fit to kiss.
They save the government a fortune too.
But that’s Labour for you. Do good deeds and raise your own money, and the heinous Hoon will come knocking on the door to extort some cash for his cronies.
Even given the vast amount of things to get angry about regularly provided by Labour, the lifeboat thing makes me fucking apoplectic.
Gawd help us sailors if the RNLI start taking government money It’ll only be a matter of time before the RNLI is privatized & the many stations closed on the alter of efficiency
But that petition has been up much longer.
As a lifeboatman myself can I just second the view that the very last thing we want is to have the government involved in running or financing our organisation. You can imagine it now, half the number of boats for ten times the cost and all in the name of efficiency.
We would, however, like the governement to stop taxing us!
jg
“You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately… Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!” – it’s been said before but well worth repeating time after time after time after time!!!!
11053 and rising !!!!!
[...] Guido has the story… ineluctably. [...]
Is your keyboard fucked or what?
At least the ST diary had the decency to give Fawkes a hat tip on this one !
Guido – can you take the anchor off the link, please.
Surely this pig fever will be the excuse for the civil contingencies act to activate.
Thinking the very same. This one at least started in (almost) America.
It seems it is now getting some traction in the media. Plenty of seeding of the link required methinks. What a great way to brighten up a Monday morning.
Now running at over 1200 an hour. Anyone fancy a bet on it getting to the top of the list by midnight ?
run rate in the hour to 9:30am was 600 again…
The Conservative Spring powow, what a snorefest.
Nice to see the acrimony between Boris and Cameron getting the spotlight.
Conservatives go home and prepare yourselves for another good kicking!
Ha ha ha! We love to hate you, you useless, incompetent, lying socialists! The worm has turned and you lot are on the way out – big time. In 12 short months you will be as unacceptable in the community as those you have tried to demonise. Socialism and New Labour will be watchwords for sleaze, corruption, inequality, bigotry and evil.
more watchwords….
…marxist destruction, Gramsci infiltration, educational devaluation, uncontrolled immigration, Scotch imperialism,
What have you been smoking?
Boris hates Cameron because he thinks Cameron is a lightweight thicko with no imagination.
Boris has a point.
Oh your back!
Of course its Monday morning and I suppose your total “Tool box talk” takes nearly an hour to complete given the number of things that need expalining more than once and with pictures.
Well, at least he is not a heavyweight thicko with no imagination like Brown.
The clunking fist – ha ha ha! The clattering Nokia more like.
Have you noticed how Master Baiter only posts in working hours.
Wonder if it’s from a taxpayer-funded PC and internet subscription?
Did I ever tell you what a pointless irritating moron I am?
Thought so.
I respect your opinion, but copying someone else’s pseudonym ain’t good netiquette my friend.
“Be patient, the Downing Street database server got overloaded over the weekend and petitioners had to try more than once to register their support.”
Curious how that happens…
When it crashed on me I followed the link in the message to find out it’s run not by Downing St (they obviously don’t have the skills) but a limited company that is wholly owned by a charity – who say they have just been given permission to delete emails and names after 12 months, wonder how long that will last before being revoked. http://www.mysociety.org
If you dig a little deeper you find
http://www.ukcod.org.uk/Finances
and that the trustees have links to government, labour and local government and are funded from a variety of leftie sources but that at least one activist founded NO2ID.
Now I wonder if there are liebour moles in here somewhere.
Shhhhh!
Remember, remember the 20 November 1990
Thatcher’s resignation,
“et tu Ken Clarke!”
She really had lost all her recipes.
“We are a grandmother”
“We will not allow the reunification of Germany”
“We’re following the leader, the leader, the leader…”
Great day!
To be a master baiter, you have to be good. You are just a wanker.
Yeah, whatevah!
We are a grandmother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How desperate. Trying to seed some ancient history from 1990 on 27th April 2009, a whole 19 years later and 12 years of New Labour’s “vision” of Britain (East Germany circa 1960) later.
27th April 2009. A new dawn as Brown and his rotten gang go down.
Her own crew threw her overboard, how sad!
Understandable though.
Sad nonsense from the greatest purveyors of sad nonsense in the world. New Labour trolls.
Yes, thank God we now have our beloved leader Mr Baiter. The Great Helmsman no less.
If we are going back in history, let’s look back a touch further 30 years in fact!
The last time your bunch of moronic hoons bankrupted our country.
Oh my God we are going to lose.
Everyone knows how useless we are.
The secret’s out. Gordon’s a repulsive incompetent freak.
Oh God what are we going to do?
Yes! Let’s try and trash some web sites.
Think positive.
Brief mention on BBC Radio 4 @ 7.xx am
True, mentioned on Toady 7am news but thereafter not at 8am. Do we have a mole in the Beeb who let it slip past first time round?
Any of you morons visited Free Republic the US right wing red neck site? They mutually stimulated each other to ‘Freep’ any on-line polls. All they managed to do was help to lose all parts of the US government to the Democrats for the first time in 45 years.
Go conspirators, go!
Idiot. Is this America? Do we have the same constitution?
Lisbonerica?
I think this is more than the “morons” visiting this blog. You seem blissfully unaware that the mood of the majority has turned against you and your socialist chums. Demonise us as “right wing red necks”, then read the polls and weep little socialist man. The country hate you and want you gone, with all your bigotry, racism, corruption, sleaze and political correctness, with your stasi and spying, your ID cards and unique IDs, your authoritarian nonsense, your laws that don’t work except to persecute innocent people, your divide and rule, your incitement of racial tension, your profligacy, your hypocricy, your abuse of parliament, your abuse of power, your criminal waste of taxpayers money, your insufferable priggishness, pomposity and arrogance, your incompetence in office, your tribalism, your lying, your fascism. Are these the things New Labour stands for? They are the things it will be remembered for.
Did I mention Marcus Brigstocke? You are he – MB. Tosser.
ELF: Very well put, I don’t think you like socialists.
A letter in the Daily Telegraph today is publicising the petition.
Calm down Churchill!
Oh yesh!
Yeah, Labourite fascist. OUT!
Hopefully, anyone going to the petition website to vote on other petitions that ring their little bell (like saving Bletchley Park, not allowing hospitals to use 0845 numbers and requiring banks to print the current interest rate on statements) vote also on the Resign petition as a contingency – after all, if there’s bugger-all chance of Broon taking any notice anyway then what is there not to like about a petition that gives him the two fingers?
Feck I so hope no 10 pulls this. Thats when it really becomes news.
“It’s not the crime that kills you, it’s the cover-up”, as someone in a very similar position once said.
There’s at least another smashed laser print in this.
PC world on standby, I reckon he could need a new monitor this time
When hes gone, I so hope Mandy becomes leader.
Reckon the homosexuals will be out of office for a long time.
Coo-ee!
Chase me! Chase me!
Can we start a petition to increase the porn allowance for ministers?
I reckon Jaqui Timney could pull it off……
Oooh, I left the ‘C’ out of her name. How ironic is that?
That Prime Minister is bloody well having it.
Cometh the hour, cometh the email.
He he, you can just picture Broon running round no 10 screaming “whos fecking idea was this fecking interweb poll shite in the first place???!!!”
It was MINE – ALL mine – as is your job, Gord.
Luv ‘n’ kisses.
Tony
run rate to 10:00am UK time is 632
I think that tells more about their ability to process data than the underlying run rate. It seems to add in blocks of circa 300 every 30 minutes.
They have just knocked off 11 as well..
Weird way of updating, basically in batches.
This will make interesting listening: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00jz2jr
How very timely! This Wednesday night it is …
how good is that timing!! :D but.. we talkin beeb here, chances are its recorded… even if it was live they wouldnt mention it, unless it was top of the pops i spose they may have to give it a fleeting mention…
beware the Nokias…
Anyone read the Mandelson comparing himself to Diana in the “I was the 3rd person in this marriage” story on the Daily Mail site.
The stupid bastard can’t even tell the difference between a Queen and a Princess !!!
Can the public issue a vote of no confidence?
Hehe, if I reload the page on the surveys site, the numbers are actually going down!
Aha! So thats their game, rather than pull it just keep deleting votes so it looks like it has no legs. Bet they spent all weekend thinking that one up.
Hey thickos, you know this petition is for proportional representation do you?
Thought not.
As promised in the 1997 election manifesto?
Take a look at the five hundred names listed, who signed the petition. Having taken a look on a number of occasions over the past few days, one thing has struck me, there are very very few names of an ethnic origin. Tells you something about the client State cultivated by Labour.
That’s because they don’t want PC plod banging their door down & when there’s no evidence deporting them as an embarrassment
Run rate now 704.
Now at 12023. At current rates of increase, it should make the top 5 no later than some time tomorrow, and become the top petition by Wednesday afternoon.
Something a touch odd about the signatories list.
Try expanding it to “see all signatories” and then search your name with “edit – find on this page”.
My (real) name was there yesterday- but now GORN.
If you’ve signed – check it out.
Just did it and I’m still there. I signed am Saturday.
Happened to me also. Something fishy going on, perhaps a Master Baiter can enlighten us?
Mine too has disappeared and I was in the first 500 to sign.
Just voted and the total went down by 10, minute later it had only gone up by 3 !
Humans are definitely running back end db operations for that to happen. IOW, its being nobbled before our very eyes.
Wonder if the RNLI poll got this too? I suspect not.
They will have to be very careful about deleting correctly registered signatories.
Are you suggesting we can’t trust new labour?
Well I haven’t signed the petition. Why?
1) What if Gordon is replaced by someone who can be ‘trusted’? God forbid his replacement wins the next election.
2) Can I be really, really sure ‘they’ won’t put me on some list as a subversive?
Now they can read all my emails, am I safe?
Doh!
Concure Cassius.

I know the chances are slim but if GB is returned as PM
all petitioners are going to need a new name, address

Christ, looks like it’s back to encrypting everything.
Check out TOR for Firefox.
12379 at the 11 a.m. update. Seems like some serious pruning over the past half hour.
Guido…. why don’t you sign up?
Brown has gone! To Kabul …
Oh God, haven’t these people suffered enough!
Aye, to solve the Helmand problem before lunch, then he’ll be popping down to Africa to cure malaria in the afternoon and then back to No 10 this evening before the nurse does her rounds.
Phew! The total comments on this thread did not mysteriously reduce when I refreshed the page. It seems some people -can- be trusted.
We need the rate of signatories to increase………..
This link makes an fantastic addition to your “What am I doing” box on Facebook………….. I’m mainly signing the increasingly popular petition demanding that Gordon Brown resign
We only need circa 7,900 more and this is in the top 5 petitions…..
After that the next milestone is 24,278 (number of people who when given the chance actually voted for Gordon Brown)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/vote2005/html/712.stm
That is a very good point!
[...] (7)March 2005 (4)February 2005 (2)January 2005 (4)December 2004 (1)November 2004 (3) Both Guido and Iain have pushed this rather neat petition on the Number 10 website that simply calls on Brown [...]
seems to be runn ing steady a 350 + every 30 mins just over 13k now
12750 at 11:30 and 13071 at midday
13415 at 12:30 – I guess to allow 666 in an hour would be just one too many
13696 at 13:00. You’d expect people had more time to sign up during lunch hour.
These new internet powers will allow new labour to crack down on those watching porn illegally.
I reckon the latest Nokia will be hitting the wall at the 15,000 mark.
When it does, perhaps we should get him one of these. A ‘phone with a built in shaver.
Then he can keep his hideous grey jowls as smooth as a babies bottom and run his attack dogs without getting off his rocking horse. Ugh.
‘I reckon the latest Nokia will be hitting the wall at the 15,000 mark.’
Probably nearer 16.5K will have the laser printer shaking, at that point it will pick up a few places and be shooting up the top ten with a rocket…
At that point the photocopier, blackberry and nokias will be hidden, hopefully.
The real McBroon “discomfort” milestone is the grinning. Thereafter look out for a gurn, followed by dribbling. When the dribbling starts Mandy is called into the office to despatch him humanely. Watch this space.
20K could see a few airbourne laptops out the window..
For what it’s worth I have added this to three Volvo-based sites I belong to – yee-ha!
Not applicable.
Surely you qualify as a British resident… or are you seeking to avoid the taxman and/or the ZaNuLab Stasi?
I think there should be another petition urging the Prime Minister to stay. Then we could compare numbers voting on both propositions. Is that why Labour haven’t put one up?
THere now is one……………..
So there is. Three signatories so far!
Signatories to “Carry On Prime Minister etc” now down to one only ie the petitioner alone. Were the other two Hymer Coont and Hugh Jarsol? Either way poor old Robert Roberts (that in no way sounds like a made up name by the way) is on his own at the moment. Apparently Mrs Roberts will be along later, probably with his medication. Arf, arf.
Now (as at 7.10pm) back up to three signatories of which one is Mr Aslongasitisntcameronthecon (that sounds real to me) and the other is a Mr Gordon Brown (which sounds like a con). I think this petition is likely to get top billing on the Beeb at 10 o’clock because (excited voiceover) it is looking like there is at least one other person in the country who wants McBroon to “Carry On as PM”. Splendid.
I have been monitoring the petition site, and it’s update rate is odd. When I saw this steady peak increase of about 300 every update per session. I immediately thought that this system is slugged, or had McDoom got popular all of a sudden. Anyway, would McGrim ever allow a system, that could potentially be used against him, be allowed to operate without a safeguard being put in place. This is the party of fraudulent postal votes. In other words do you think there is any chance that Gordo would allow an HONEST system to be established.
14050 at this rate 20 k before the days is over
I read it as 14030 or just under 1000 in 90 mins.
yup your right I was to quick of the mark
14,415 now – largest hourly increase so far (current run rate is 770, one every five or six seconds).
If this rate, let alone this rate of increase, continues it will be in the top five and on the front of the Downing St. Petitions site by tomorrow.
Speed is picking up…………. come on people………. we just need a few more shoves and this will hit the mainstream media……….
This is just a bit wierd. I know it has been mentioned above that the numbers are going up in batches. I am fairly literate with IT, I can say that I have never seen a system do this, unless it is timing the server out, however if this were to happen we loose connection to the server and get a database error or page not found screen. Because the number when refreshed is going up in consistant blocks, you can make the bellow assumptions as to why this trend is occuring :-
1. That the number of votes is not linked to the live database and it is updated by a macro that gets the data from a query (this would explain the number going down if the records are being deleted from the live database but only being published after the last macro).
2. That the number of votes is not linked to the live database and is being veted by a human which are then posted when they have been sifted through
or veted then the figure updated manually, this is just unworkable as you would have to have teams in 24 hours a day. HYS is an example of this
3. That there are data integrity filters inplace to make sure that data is not just rubbish (e-mail address, names etc), this however would normally reject the entry and tell you to correct the field that has been rejected. Also a computer would work through the requests logically and either reject or pass the entry and thus the number would go up at the rate with wich the server processes the entries.
Which ever of those reasons it is (and I more likely to sway with 1) I would suggest that the total number is not being updated in realtime and there is a mechanism in the middle of it. Why would you do this unless you have something to hide or are worried by a result? Obviously complete speculation.
Just a thought.
Looking at it, the updated happen on the half hour.
Its called caching. A periodic “snapshot” is taken of the page as it would appear from a sample direct database query, and that is served to the masses. That snapshot is very “computationally inexpensive” and it does not use direct database hits – its done to serve “good enough” results to very large numbers of viewers, numbers which would otherwise overload the database. Meanwhile, the real database is actually being updated all the time and you only see the numbers change when the next auto-snapshot is updated.
I have a more important consideration though: Did Broon switch to Dominoes recently after they aparantly began adding his favourite ingredient to their pizzas?
And the favourite ingredient is? Piss, shit?
I have just been testing the timing of the total number refresh and it happens on the hour and half hour, so that confirms what you and I have said, that it is done by a query that runs every half hour. Lets just hope the data cannot be tampered with like the ballot boxes eh
Oh its doesn’t prevent fiddling, its just explains this effect which is common practice for many public db driven websites.
On your other point, compare and contrast:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2378043.ece
I think you’re right there Blake’s. Looking at the source of the page (which you can do from any web browser), the number of votes is a text field on the page, rather than a query from the database, which is what I would expect if it were ‘live’
The obvious reason for this is to reduce the load on the database server so that every page load is not running a query on the DB itself, there is a single query run in the background every half an hour which updates the text field on the page.
There are also human moderators going through the votes and removing obvioulsy ficticious entries (Jacqui Smith, Ed Balls etc). I would take a guess that they delete a load of these then run their query manually, which is why the number of votes ocasionally goes down.
A bit of a wierd way to run a database on a website (I do this for a living) but it allows them to have a crappy DB server rather than a whole farm of them, so I guess they’re doing it to save (our) money!
15674 @ 16:10, needs 16700 to be in the top 10, 20700 to be in the top 5 and on the front page…
Another 1700 signatures or so and it starts to get interesting.
For every few hundred extra signatures after that, were up yet more positions in the ranks.
Only seven more places, Roll on the front page…
I agree with Blake’s 7. There may be a bigger story lurking in the manipulation of the results than in the petition itself.
14415 at 14:00
14768 at 14:30
15065 at 15:00
15065 (still) at 15:30
15372 at 15:35
Isn’t it a little wierd that it’s going up at 600-700 an hour all day, and only updating every half an hour?
Not that I’d suggest any sort of conspiracy, of course, you understand…
The way this is going, it looks like resign will be on the petitions home page some time tomorrow.
Anyone betting this may ‘disappear’ between now and then?
Perhaps we’ll see a footnote…
“In the interests of families and single parents across the nation and due to such difficult global economic times, the prime minister believes now would be an innopportune moment to ‘redesign’ no 10″
3:30 15372 – half way there folks. Keep up the good work. All this needs is a tinsy winsy little link from a brave BBC journalist and it’ll go stellar. Come on – there a cracking story here – who wants the credit?
Well I didn’t get the confirmation email, so emailed the petition team complaining. Here’s the exchamge:-
Dear Mr justoneglass,
Thank you for your email.
If a petition has already been signed in the in the past, you will not
receive another confirmation email. Signers should check first to see
whether their name already appears on a petition before trying to
register for it. You can do this by pressing “Ctrl & F” together and
entering the name they used to register.
Signers are also advised to regularly check there spam folders.
Regards
Downing Street Web team
In that case why the fuck does the website tell you that a confirmation email is on the way, if it clearly isn’t? How much did that well-specified piece if software cost me? My 9-year old could do better. Pretty hopeless really. Just like their spelling – the Hoons have used “there” when they should have used “their”. Dumbed down fuckers.
Guido,
Using the “Ctrl & F” function – seems to show you haven’t signed the petition either as Guido or Paul Staines. Can you please clarify??
The website states:
You must be a British citizen or resident to sign the petition.
Ctrl & F only launches a search tool for the page displayed – which means your name will only show if you are listed as being one of the last 500 o sign. Another sign that the fuckwit who wrote me the email didn’t understand his job.
Does that mean that only one John Smith can sign in the whole country?
ooh petition still at number 12 pop-pickers.. just bubbling under the hot Top Ten.. bit of a spurt before the bell goes tonight guys, we make break the top ten tonight :)
They could always just pull it and say they suspected tampering, its not beneath these weasly cowards.
Its NUMBER 10 in the Petition list as I type!
Getin there. Lets get rid of this useless koont. Once it breaks the 50,000 mark it will be larger than the fuel protest.
I reckon this will go to plus 3 million onve the press put it about.
Bye Bye Gordon u muppet.
I think you will find it is linear. Approximately 600 signatures are added every hour (during working hours at least) which smacks of human intervention, especially as the numbers occasionally drop indicating records are being deleted.
You poor, deluded fools.
At about 5000 votes update per day, then it is going to take 2 years to get to 3M. We go to the polls in just over 1 year.
Its not linear you muppet, it will be exponential once it gets on to the news and every disgruntled voter knows its there.
Such naievity is enchanting.
Theres so much more to this than mere mathematics.
Here’s funny.
This has just appeared on the petitions homepage under ‘five most recent petitions’
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to carry on leading this great country of ours.
Votes in…
1
Signed presumably by “G. Brown”?
And Look, some people have posted some real crap which means that there are no real filters in place, wicked.
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to carry on leading this great country of ours
bob roberts, the Petition Creator, joined by:
* aslong as it isn’t cameron the con
* john fisk
* Gordon Brown
* get stuffed, plus Brown’s never been a leader
They just don’t “Get it” do they. :-)
Top 10 – great news!!
As someone points out above Gordon’s mandate as Prime Minister is a total of 24,278 – the people in his constituency who voted for him.
We just need to beat this figure and then those people calling for him to resign have a greater mandate than he himself can claim.
24,278.
Does that include postal votes?
17030
By tomorrow this is going to be the top petition.
I bet it will make his blood boil every day watching it soar.
to ,justoneglass..3.38 you have to go to the foot of the page of the latest 500 and click on “show ALL results” ..then do the control + f i have just done it …and it works, michael.
Here’s the Google Trends chart; what about having it front page Guido?
Nice Graph
Good to see an upward trend at the moment. Ho, ho!
I just don’t get it with the petitions – 10 ins ago I signed one in support of grammar schools on http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Grammars
and i was number 5 on the list. Next ime i look both I and number 4 have been removed.
On a brighter note we are in the top 10 now!
It sometimes causes a blip while we remotely activate your webcam and take a quick look at you. Me and the lads are on a teabreak now so we’re just going through your downloads and holiday snaps. Don’t worry if your laptop runs slowly for a bit; you know it’s only us!
LOL. Actually we’ve been reinstated now so maybe we were being checked against some database or other.
17665 – number 8 and rising. Number 1 this time tomorrow?
7:30pm 17969 7th in list!
What a lovely present for the BoogieMan on his return from a pointless trip to a pointless war he’s been spending billions of our money on for the last 8 years.
he’s just earning more airmiles while he can
Whey Hey… its now 7TH !!!!
I’m just going for a shit. I’ll be about 20 minutes as I like to read over the Express.
When I get back it will be reassuring to see that it will be 6th in the list.
welcome back. You got your wish. In top 5 soon, one more heave….
jumped 300+votes in bout 10 mins… woo hoo

The Publican website is running a petition demanding the resignation of
Swiveleye and Darling for their contribution to the drinks industry.
Seems like a trend is starting!
Yow, defo be on front page by midnight, then they have to shit or get off the can coz this story will break by tomorrows breakfast. I fully expect it to be pulled – we are dealing with people who have dealt with nothing but 100% spin since ‘97.
wont be pulled they will have 18000 people telling friends and relatives about it.
We are 45 minutes away from a “technical failure” of the type Stalin would be proud of.
6TH place & going strong… the tidal wave is brewing.
The one eyed tax grabbing twat’s days are over
At least he’s got something to put on his CV besides being a twat and saving the world. 18261 (1+8+2+6+1 =18 or 3 x6) funny how that 666 keeps coming up. Is he the AntiChrist?
Strange indeedy
It’s now at 18522
1+8+5+2+2 = 18 Again!
When I first wrote the other day, I was the 666th post.
Bad news for someone, especially if you can tell me where we’re getting the 3 from :D
This is actually quite sad; on the “Carry On Gordon” petition:
“bob roberts, the Petition Creator, joined by:
1. aslong as it isn’t cameron the con
2. john fisk
3. Gordon Brown
4. get stuffed, plus Brown’s never been a leader
5. Ed Balls, Chancellor in Waiting
6. Faux Cough
7. nobody elected brown”
Where are all the Ambrose_Harperson_Tra-La’s when you need them?
Ho, ho, ho!
PS Not sad at all BTW.
I see one G Brown (under a pseudonym) has launched a counter-petition:
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/PMsupport/
Their problem is that by having more than one petition they are splitting their support and risk not reaching double figures. BTW odd that the fake names are not edited out of their lists.
Yep. Number of signatures so far : 3.
And another, just the creator and his missus signed up so far:
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/keepbrownin/
he sounds a bit of an arse doesnt he
The tabloids are picking up the story !
Which ones!
This is from The Guardian
http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/apr/27/downing-street-website-resignation-petition
It is all over the web by now.
This will break in the morning. Expect fun with your cornflakes tomorrow.
Wonder if this will come to be seen as the start of the calls for a snap general election?
Its one the LabourHome website too.
http://www.labourhome.org/story/2009/4/26/123855/200
And the Daily Mail
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1173838/Almost-15-000-sign-petition-Downing-Street-website-demanding-Prime-Ministers-resignation.html
it will take some doing for the beeb to carry it… nothing gets said to criticise their beloved leader…and paymaster
It seems to me that Byers is positioning to cross the chamber before the next election. Hope the Cameroons know what they’re doing.
1,500 more needed then tomorrow morning it will be in the TOP 5.
I fucking hate this lazy fat lying one-eyed bastard. He will never go because he is a fucking moron.
stop sitting on the fence Don, do you like him or not??? ;)
I have to admit he is the Conservatives best asset. I hope this story runs & runs but the koont just stays in power until we can finally get rid of him and his blood sucking lparasites.
Where was the “Government of TALENT”. LMFAO at that :)
Don’s brinkmanship is admiral. Perhaps if he we were to express himself with more feeling then we would be able better to appreciate what he thinks of the bastard.
I have a new business idea to sell PINATA’s to those of a voting age for their birthday parties.
The first character I would do is that slimely bong-eyed-koont Brown. It would fly off the shelves at £20 ago. People would love to beat the shit out of his head.
:)
How much for a Mandy?? or a Balls or a… wow, do a set.. :D
Is the total updated after every so many minutes, or after a certain number of new names?
BTW fantastic poll out tomorrow on con home, just incase anyone hasn’t seen it
hit refresh now and then and it does move… not always upwards, but it does move…. spose in fairness, depends how many hits its getting… we talking about central government machinary here.. ie its fucked and useless
Your marketing strategy could include linking Gordon Brown’s role as Chancellor for 10 years and the fact that the credit crunch originated in the UK – could help with sales?
http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/blog/
It beggars belief that this government can still be able to hold out until next year.

FFS they are nearly the 3rd party and they are running the country.
yes Blake, nearly 3rd party and with an unelected party leader and PM to boot… gotta be a record… makes ya wanna cry…
Its already too late for them to pull it now – Google “petition prime minister resign” and you can see how far its already spread, there would be riots if it mysteriously vanished after that.
I wonder what how far a petition to call a general election would go?
It’s a fucking load of numbers and it may not achieve anything as technically he wont reply till the 22nd of Oct but, the last time I was this excited my wife got run over by a bus. :-)
Keep the pressure on Guy!!
Well this morning I had mentioned on the Nick Ferrai showhttp://www.lbc.co.uk/nick-ferrari-3466 that a radical change could see Boris as leader ( he had only interviewed him on Friday) this is interesting as he would not commit to doing a second term as Mayor , unless asked to do so , I think he as honest a politiion as you are likely to find!http://www.boriswatch.com/
Next I would recruit Nigel Farage to get us out of Europe and be deputy to Borishttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXmidPjQaE8
Then make John Hemming MP Justice Minister http://john.hemming.name/
Finally as there will be little of the economy left by then,so I would disband the treasury and recruit Sir Alan Sugar ,Sir Richard Branson and Lakshmi Mittel to sort it out as Great Britain PLC
Oh there’s an idea for a website game, fantasy Government, you could play it just like Fantasy football, instead of points for scoring goals you could get a point for a brown put down and minus for a smear campaign. What do you think
[...] commenter at Guido Fawkes’ site says this, [...]
20000 :-)
It’s 6th at the moment, need only another 700 to make 5th which is the front page.
After that there are 3 petitions with 26000 and one with 28000. There were more than 10000 signatures against the one-eyed Scottish idiot [(c) J Clarkson] on Monday alone so it should be top of the pile by this evening. Fingers crossed, all we need now is some decent MSM coverage, then maybe, just maybe…..
Today’s Times (in print as well as on the web) -
http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/the_web/article6182161.ece
“The e-petitions website, launched in 2006, has proved to be a headache for the Government, with people more likely to use it to petition for Jeremy Clarkson to be made prime minister than to save their local school. The eighth most popular petition of the moment, with 17,665 signatures and counting, asks Mr Brown to do just one thing: resign.”
Now 20749, and on the front page.
The website for Nr10 Petitions is not working. Go figure…….
20,313 at the last count.
20,395 (two minutes later). : )
It’s now in the top 5!!! and on the home page
And the 46th signatory to the Keep the PM pettition is:
“James Gordon Brown is an amoral fucking sewer rat the worthless Hoon”
I bet that wont stay on the No 10 website long !!!
The petition site is unavailable !!!!
Fuck me the whole country has just found out about it. I reckon they will pull it !
I can’t get to the petition. Looks like Gordon is going for full censorship, as we always knew.
Told you so – all day yesterday in fact. Mysterious “technical problems” will have arisen, and the site will return bereft of said petition.
It’s rate has shot up to 500 per hour. Much higher than the LabourHome website claims of 50-100 hr.
Now its in the top five and easy for any daft phucker to find, coupled with the likes of the Daily Express running the story on page 10 we should see this at number one by tomorrow. :)
Don’t panic, it’ll be petition number 1 before long, just some 8.000 signatures to go.
Think they are trying to keep this e petition out of the top five!
It is now top 5 and showing on petition home page, but numbers not changed for 30 mins…
Apart from Bob Roberts, there’s not a genuine name on the Carry On Up the Khyber petition.
I’m not even sure of him – did his parents really call him Robert Roberts….?
Betty Swollocks is actually real (google it if you’re not at work ;-) )
My favourites:
# Cyclops McFuckup
# Mike Hunt
# C.U. Jimmy
# My mate Gordo and me shag sheep at the weekends
#F*ck off back to Scotland
# Dolly Draper
Its snowing in hell!
A link from the Beeb: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/pm/2009/04/has_a_petition_ever_actually_c.shtml
Might be useful for as many people as possible to visit that link – the Beeb site has a handy “most popular” feature, meaning it could get to the front of the news page…
** BETTING NOW OPEN **
Place your bets, place your bets. … At what time will it go number 1 ? Guido you set the prize.
I’m going for 4.30pm Today
I’m not taking risks, I bet it’ll be petition n° 2 by teatime, n° 1 at breakfast tomorrow. I’m going to have breakfast with a glass of Spanish cava.
HIGNFY Friday will be fun – it will have been top for a few days by then.
thought for a moment the fuckers had pulled the petition site… it took a few goes but eventually it popped up….
Signatures: 21,216
im hoping its slow thru sheer weight of hits…. am i being an optomistic fool???
:|
21,374. That’s 1000 in 3 hours. Tomorrow should be top of the petitions, but thinks it will be pulled overnight! : (
Yes – its probably a good sign actually. Though it must have coped before as the road charge one got 1.5m.
I reckon this fucker will go to 3 million +… Lets see the bong-eyed-koont ignore that.
Hope Cameron points to it during Question Time. That should add another 500,000 at about 12:15 on Wednesday :)
Another 6,500 sigs and Cameron can state in PMQ’s
“Can this failing Government under this failed prime minister explain why his own petition site states…”
“We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to…RESIGN”
Add in the site has more signatures than He has votes for his own constituency and surely to goodness, it’s a speech that will make even the Beebs front page.
THEY ARE KNOCKING OFF PEOPLES NAMES.
It’s just dropped 55 in the last 3 minutes !
If he did resign this week, who’d become PM?
Wikipedia says we have no deputy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deputy_Prime_Minister_of_the_United_Kingdom
How the fuck could Mandy the unflushable turd, Balls, The man of Straw et al do any better? Or maybe its time we got serious with a credible candidate like Jacqui Smith?
I see that the petition in support of the Great Man has reached a dizzying 10!!
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/support-the-PM/
At least seven of the names are piss takes.
And there’s no doubt that those piss takers will remain on the list to help boost the numbers, whereas anyone with a name that gordon doesn’t like on the resign petition will be knocked off.
I wonder how many of these are real on the support petition?….
* Joy Wendy Endcomes
* Noki Aitonthehead
* Mr N.O. McMandate
* Ivor Broquen-Printer
* Mr. P. Iss-Off
* Mr S Meargate
* Dustin Mihands
* Gordon Smallcock
The comparison against how many people voted for Brown at the last general election is logically and statistically invalid.
For example, his constituency might have only had, say, 100,000 people in it, whereas there might be 60million people who can vote on the petition, so it’s not comparing like with like.
His “election” to become leader was invalid because he bullied all the other potential candidates to stand-down so that wasn’t an election at all, it was just a coup.
There is no like-with-like comparison that can be made, because Brown was never elected by the same people (either directly or through their elected representatives) that can vote on the petition.
If you want to compare like with like, then compare how many people voted for him to become leader in a valid democratic election process (directly or through their elected representatives), which is zero, with the number of people who have voted on the resign petition.
More people voted for him to resign than voted for him to become leader as soon as the first signature appeared on the resign petition.
The 24,000 milestone is irrelevant; the milestone needed to pass was in fact zero.
So there are 60 million who have internet access
I ain’t doing nuffink. I want Cameron in 2010 like the OECD wants. Stop trying to subvert democracy with your participation. Hoons.
Milestone 23.000 reached.
Oops! Now it’s down to 22,989
There’s something not right with this
There is more effort from the government going into the management of this list than there is to solving the ecomonic crisis we face.
Hope the wanker with his fat finger on the delete button has to go out for a fag soon so we can get back over the 23,000 mark
Its gone down again…. 22,982 WTF is going on ?
Its gone down again…. 22,982 WTF is going on ?
23,132, phew must have been a Silk Cut moment
I wonder if the boogieman actually knows about this, or will it be served as a news sandwich upon his return to no 10?
Can’t be a news sandwich as there’s no good news, more like an open sandwich but with flies buzzing round.
It will go like this:
Advisor: “Theres a swine outbreak taking news away from your incompetence”
GB: “Great! What else?”
Advisor: “The top petition on your website poll you dreamt up shows the country wants you to resign”
GB: “Can’t do – I was never elected. Next!”
Advisor: “Jaqcui asked if you brought any good porn back from Poland.”
it slowed down all right still reckon it will be top by end of the week
I have been doing fairly regular downloads of the full lists and it looks like they are deleting any duplicate names.
Means you are somewhat fucked if your name is John Smith !!!
Advisor: We’ve managed to slash our poll deficit to only 19 points
GB: Great, what’s next?
Advisor: Mandy’s lost interest
GB: Never needed his help to fuck everything up anyway
Advisor: One of your ministers has been exposed for misleading Parliament
GB: Great, send him in for tea and medals
“One of your ministers has been exposed for misleading Parliament”.
Would anyone care to make a list of nu-labour ministers that “haven’t” misled Parliament? It shouldn’t take long.
This petition is a bit weird now. It was flying until very late last night, since then it seems to have slowed to a crawl. Under regular circumstances I would have said that was normal, BUT, it was only really last night it started appearing in the online press. I would have expected this to be going somewhat faster than this.
3000 petitions in 16 hours? It’s going slower than it was at the weekend.
At 14:30 it was 23,000 exactly
then it started going down a bit
At 16:30 (2 hrs later) it was 23,413
Putting on 413 in 2 hours is the slowest it has ever been. Mind you the koonts have been deleting like Fuck. IS THIS LEGAL ?
Its as legal as attempting to defraud the taxpayer with your “personal” porn bill.
It’ll reach 24,000 very soon. There is no way stopping this petition reaching a demoralising top of the pops. The exact numbers don’t matter, being top petition will just be a humiliating symbol.
I expect the pace to pick up again soon as the fat fingered deleting bastard will be in the pub any minute, no doubt bragging about the valuable work they have done today. Fuck I can’t wait to see the back of these bastards.
It’s picking up: right now it’s near 24,200.
Will be number 1 sometime tomorrow, a little present for GB when he’s back home.
There’s yet another petition for the great man: “We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to stay in the job”.
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/keepbrownin/
Someone in The Bunker probably thought another attempt might get past the scornful laughter. I don’t think so … someone with the same name as the petitioner has signed it, then come:
* Quagmire
* Melanie Talkswell
* Just Resign
* Alliance of Union Jack Underwear Makers
Yes, and 6 signatures have signed. That will be Darling, Mandelson, Miliband, Balls and Brown (twice).
Suprisingly there still seems to be 23,000 people out there who are English. Looking at the BBC I thought most people in the UK were non English or do they distort the truth?
I’m sure most here agree ‘He’ should go but this Petition seems rather harsh even for him. Made me smile though.
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/JustReward/
Unless it gets more attention in the media we will continue to see this slow drip drip of a couple of 100 every 30 minutes.
Agree, the media need to report this, but i doubt it,they don’t seem to be on the side of the people.just look at the way Daniel Hannans great speech hardly got a mention.our day is coming,we woke up to this shower of shit a long time ago.
im off to open up 3000 hotmail accounts… ;)
Both my cats have voted because 8/10 cats said they prefurred DC
And the other two prefurr NC
24186, still 2300 till the next marker.
24325 as we speak….. 26836 to get to second… could be done tonight… certainly feasable before PMQ’s tomorrow….
Going to be tricky to keep an eye on this with the footie on. Hey, Guido, can you ask them to announce the figures at half time?
This post should be moved to the top again.
“Don’t cook tonight Sarah, I’m collecting my favourite food ready for a hearty meal whilst watching the footie”.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00532/Cartoon_532017s.jpg
The number 1 slot at Number 10 is now in sight. I hope we get there tomorrow. Email everyone you know, shout in the streets, and round up as many people as you can.
When we hit number 1, there will be even more press interest, and then it will speed up again.
Thank you all for your help and votes.
Thanks Kalvis, you done good
Tomorrow in Jerusalem allright.
Next milestone passed – now up to 24664, which is more than the 24278 people that elected him in 2005 :-)
What is really of interest is how fast the count is going up. We discussed yesterday that it was going up by almost exactly 300 every half an hour, today it seems to be going up almost exactly 150 every half an hour.
Call me a conspiracy theorist if you like but I definitely smell a rat there, especially as MSM are now running this, even the Labourgraph have it on their front page now
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/gordon-brown/5237085/20000-sign-petition-calling-for-resignation-of-Gordon-Brown.html
It’s getting worrying now! 47 have signed the petition to keep Gordon in No 10!
Analysing his supporters, the voting segment he appeals to best appears to be the criminally insane.
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/PMsupport/
Do widzenia Gordonski!
Labour whips are trying hard.
Does anyone have evidence of Labour trying to whip up support for the counter petition? E-mails, web sites etc?
The inadequacy of labour supporters’ ability to rebut criticism betrays the well founded belief that they are not only utterly silenced and humiliated but also spent like limp dicks
Look at the names .. lol
They really, really don’t want this to be top ahead of PMQ tomorrow.
even top5 or 3 would be enough for Call-me-Dave to at least hint at it.. my god, the poor Nokias are gonna get it…
essential viewing tomorrow methinks
Mmmmmmh…. It’s 25,000, I feel like getting into my jacuzzi…
treason, simple treason.
No more bacon for Mr Brown and his freeloading compatriots
The age of morality will soon be on us……LOL
25202.. 3000 to go to reach top of the pops…. oooo just think if it gets to number one at about 11.30am tomorrow :D
My guess is that it will be number 1 at about 18:00 tomorrow, provided the servers don’t go slow as some claimed they did today.
Fingers crossed.
Kalvis, i raise my hat to you sir…
Kalvis, if that’s really you I raise you my hat and my shirt – Sir you have been the one who did what we all thought, and for that we salute you ;-)
Today was 300/hour, yesterday 600/hour. If [they let us] go at 300/hr tomorrow we’ll be no.1 by PMQs, I REALLY hope Dave is looking at this, Guido and others who are well connected in Westminster let’s make sure Dave knows in time even if it’s only no.2.
No petition has ever been #2 after 5 days I’m sure…
25636 at midnight, 1250 from #2, 2800 from #1..
It is top of the Government, politics and public administration petitions.
Why aren’t more people signing? 1.5 million signed the petition on cutting the duty on petrol.
Are they afraid of the GB Stasi or of having their dole cut?
Or have people just given up on our political system? No Solidarity here to get rid of a deepy unpopular regime.
Not enough people know about this * (GB Stasi worry+ given up on political system).
I’d hazard a guess there was TV broadcast news + normal progs regarding the road petition for some time. Seems nobody in the TV media wishes to chance their love spuds meeting a mangle just to report this embarrasment, YET.
Roll on 1st place.
Bloody Well done Kalvis.
Some of the reasons on the rejected petitions make amusing reading…
On 25,854 now, still a way to go :(
At last, belatedly, the Labour SpinHoons have also started their very own Online Petition Against Dave.
As you might expect, its total crap, and completely misses the point – they want us all to sign up to help make Dave answer the question “Austerity for who?”.
Genius, eh? No, pathetic
