The new labour government, following tony blair's regime, is irredemiably corrupt in my view - and I supported them originally. We have few people of integrity, honesty, competence and commitment to doing the JOB THEY ARE PAID FOR !!! Not engaging in underhand activities which amount to defamation of character. Whilst Brown dismisses this McBride activity he did this on behalf of, and for the benefit of the labour government - who else?
This is scurrilous behaviour but unsurprising as Brown has surrounded himself with self-serving acolytes, but ,many labour voters will still support them at the next election. This country deserves - and NEEDS - something better.

Dear Mr. Fawkes

I like your blog.

Are you aware that the theft of electricity falls under S13 of the Theft Act 1968?

If as alleged these emails by McBride were written in Number 10 Downing Street then shouldn't you be asking who is going to pay back the money?

Who is going to pay back the taxpayers money for the theft of electricity?

I think the public need the Police to be involved so that the money is recovered.

Yours sincerely

George Laird

I met Draper once in the 1990s. He struck me as a very nasty little shit with slimy hands. I counted it as a great misfortune to have shaken hands with him and felt a sensation not unlike having squeezed a slug. I had to clean myself with a tissue after doing it and the slipperiness would not wipe off. Draper also showed a poor grasp of what makes up good manners as he constantly interrupted his opponent in a debate and would not be silent. The fact that this awful man has been given any kind of role in New Labour after his fall from grace over selling access, not to mention his dubious claims about his psychotherapy training, says a lot about the idiocy of the labour hierarchy.

I used to take part in the Independent discussion boards: lots of excellent, clever, witty, educated people on there. Some crackerjacks there too. I see the latter category have moved here. The fact that I was on the Independent board has nothing to do with my politics. Reading my original post should also tell you that I am apolitical and calling me a Socialist or anything else is to be well wide of the mark. I am not a Tory or Lib Dem or Communist or living under any other such label.

I say that this is a terrible blog and someone says, so bad you had to take part. Erm, how on earth would you know my view if I didn't tell you? If you don't like my view, fine; but are you denying me the right to express it?

Then there the people who respond with nothing but offensive swearing: I did, at least, tell you why I thought it was a bad blog. Those of you who have suggested I leave this comment area have either ignored that or assumed I meant something that I neither said nor meant.

There are also the people whose spelling and sense of syntax are woeful.

Any sense of irony, too, is completely lost here.

One major point that maybe I need to spell out is that the behaviour of people here typifies exactly what I feel is wrong with the blog and with our political society: it is rotten from the core. So these people fall into line and perpetuate the same old nonsense.

I am well aware that by responding to the unwarranted attacks you have seen will lead to more bile but I doubt I will feel the need to respond to the swearing and offence that it may well contain.
