More self-promotion here by this Jury Team London MEP candidate, I'm afraid. You may even wish to review www.1party4all.co.uk - which I am responsible for. It basically promotes direct democracy and demonstrates how it could work in a virtual one-party state.

Could you live in such a state, Guido?

The Party Hostess looks forward to welcoming you.

You may even wish to review it.

Hello Guido and all. London Jury Team MEP candidate here.

Probably the only candidate with an established history of producing political content.

Vote for me because you know I will be at the very least entertaining. My policies are memorable precisely because it takes no account of "polite society".

Dear Guido,

I have just reported a crime to New Scotland Yard with a request that they investigate. The offences alleged concern the theft of £10, false accounting and obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception contrary to ss. 1, 15 and 16 Theft Act, 1968, and conspiracy. The suspects are one Jacqui Smith M P and Richard Timney....I probably do not have to add any more.

Suffice it to say I expect one or more of the following outcomes:

!. No further action;

2. Not in the public interest to waste police time on £10;

3. Insufficient evidence;

4. Full investigation of my tax position and private life

But who cares any more in this banana republic? Great Britain we may at one time have been, but now under new Labour (aka Hard Labour) we are more like Little Britain.

I shall let you know if I hear anything from Yates of The Yard, but don't hold your breath.

Jacqui Smith surely now ought to resign. Even minor slip ups at the home office are now being linked with the original porn on expenses story, the most recent being the revelation that a Home Office website contained a link to a Japanese Porn site.

It has got so bad that the home secretary has now earnt the nickname "Buk-acqui Smith" on several websites, a name that is derived from a particular form of Japanese Pornography called Bukkake. How long can Ms Smith continue with egg on her face?

I'm not an expert on libel law by any means, but I'm actually quite surprised the newspapers did run it. The troublesome word is 'abuse' which is potentially libelous if it is taken to imply breaking the rules and no rule-breaking occured. That is, breaking the letter of the law; we all know they certainly broke the spirit of the law. I suspect the reason it gets though is that it's merely implied who the targets are and not stated. If it actually used the name 'Jacqui Smith' it would probably be libelous under UK law.

I take it Guido is thinking the Private Eye's longstanding campaign to reform UK libel laws is a good wheeze? (I certainly do!)

@Tayto - I certainly think a block of flats for MPs might be a better solution. Do they really need second /homes/. Why would their London accomodation need to be more extensive than a standard hotel room? The tricky cases are those who think given the amount of time they'll have to spend in London it makes sense to relocate their families. I suspect in those cases, the answer might just have to be one of tough love and say it's a de facto condition of representing a constituency that your own family lives there.

I wanted to know more about Jury Team Candidates so I set out some questions on my blog, and I have had 13 responses from across the UK from people running in the Jury Team Primary. If you are interested in how they view the EU and how they will vote pop over and have a look at their responses. http://daniel1979blog.blogspot.com/

to 126 anonymous.

So you listen to a bit of american stuff. Does that make you a good judge of "all other Indutsrialised nations"?

I'm not actually making any judgement about the US, I don't know much about that- Hows the BBC compare to german, or italian? I do admit I don't know much about all nations, I just know that the BBC aint half as bad as some national tv.

I was by the way just giving an example of the most vomit worthy one I've seen - I've seen plenty. And this isnt the US I'm talking about. Have you seen something that vomit-worthy from the USA?
