+++ Gordon Wants IMF to Sell Gold Stocks +++

That has worked so well for Britain.  Not.

UPDATE : Guido didn’t see C4 News but a co-conspirator over on HPC reports Mandelson on the subject of IMF bailouts as telling Jon Snow

PM : We won’t be at the top of the queue”

JS : “You didn’t say we won’t be in the queue”

PM : “I don’t think we will be in the queue”

Honestly he didn’t want to say that last bit. He was more or less forced to. Very sheepish and quiet whan he said it. All this after Mandelson spent a good minute talking about how the stigma of going to the IMF was being reduced and it wouldn’t be embarrassing to go to them now. He even used examples of other countries, Mexico, that were considering using the special drawdown facility. We are being primed. Pure and simple. Just as we were for low interest rates and QE.

Apparently Mandelson said “We are destigmatising going to the IMF”Anyone got the video?

      Uncle Vanya de Caesaromagus says:

Of course Gordon McRuin wants the IMF to sell some of its Gold stocks – after all McRuin and Baldrick Darling will be one of the first in the queue for bail-out loans just like Sunny Jim Callaghan and Dennis Healey had to do back in the 1970s.

The ’smoozing’ that our Dear Leader recieved from President Obama at the Number 10 Pre-G20 conference made Broone look like a virginal schoolboy at his first end of term school Prom. His already over-stroked ego will now be justifying him to ’soldier on’ in his role as Dear Leader, and to continue to ’save the world’. ‘More of the Same’ Labour crud is more like it.

Meanwhile, little does he know that the ‘long knives’ will be out again if Labour crashes badly in the up and coming Local elections in May (and the EU elections on 4th of June).

We are always hopedful that this G20 Conference will come up with some concrete proposals that can be turned into real policies that will be effective. But Labour will shilly-shally and gibber and moan about what can and cannot be done, so will loose any ‘window of opportunity’. They will become bogged down in their own propaganda and bulldroppings.

One sometimes wonders if Brown and Pals will ever try and pull the ultimate stunt by posponing any elections to save themselves from what they already know. Maybe on some spurious grounds of ‘National Emergency’ – but I don’t think that they would be that stupid — or are they?

(Oops! I shouldn’t have said that. It might give somebody ideas!!)

        Uncle Vanya

I have no doubt whatsoever that, if Brown sees a strong Tory lead in the polls early next year, the fear factor will be cranked up and the election ‘postponed’ (abandoned more like).

        Take your choice: -

The level of the terrorist threat is currently so huge that the country cannot afford to call an election at this time

The economic problems facing the UK are such that it would not be prudent to call an electiuon at this time

With another three Tory front bench spokesman under arrest, we are unable to call an election as the party opposite are obviously unfit for government

And they’ll be other problems by then. Rioting, looting and general break down of law and order. ACPO will make sure of it!

Think I’m kidding, this is decades in the making.

l see no outcome other than rioting. They’re laughing at us. They think we are their obedient little monkeys. Over the past few years alone, they have become bolder and bolder. Literally laughing in our faces. Tore up our Hstory and our Rights. We must be the only Country on earth who are not allowed to fekkin fly our own flag with pride.
We are called racist, yet we are probably the most gregarious nation toward all creeds and colours. We should be praised for this.
We are generous, fair, and in no way in need of talentless celebs,
who wallow in the false kudos that without them, we wouldn’t give a penny to charity. They use the impoverished for their own self needs.
As for this current insult to the word Government, they …and lme save for a very few….have brought shame upon our Parliament. These are not Politicians in any sense of the word.
They have, and will continue to, make our lives hell. Why?. Because l genuinely believe that they see no Country, they see no people, they view this Country as one big open bank vault.
Their lies spew out by the minute. Their arrogance grows by the second.
l sincerely believe that we are about as close to the point of no return,as we can dare risk.
There are Laws, Her Majesty has the authority. Yet noone in a position to put an end to this will do so. Why not?….a far more uncomfortable thought to ponder.
        So. lt’s up to us.
lf, as some think, they want us to make a stance, to enable them to use it as good reason to prevent Elections, then exactly how
could they, the real minority in the Country, pummel us into cowering hoons.
They can’t. They have a choice. Do the decent thing, or be hounded out.

I’m a buyer up to $1000. Secondly, the way he handled the sale last time was that he brought all the top metals dealers into a room and told them before he did it. Giving them the chance to front-run him by shorting the metal, buying it back after the massive sale had caused the price to crater.

It was about the stupidest way you could go about doing suck a stupid thing as selling the nation’s gold reserves. Not only did he ring the bell at the bottom, but he allowed everyone to get their trades in first and get free profit at the taxpayer’s expense.

What the G20 should agree upon this week is to allow every economy to shape its policies for tackling the crisis in a way that best addresses its specific economic problems. Many economies may indeed choose to co-operate and trade for mutual benefit. Nevertheless, the free trade pill must not be forced down every economy’s throat. Political leaders should become more responsible to the needs and demands of their people instead of hiding behind the ‘forces of globalization’. Global solutions for a global financial crisis may sound good in theory but may not work in the reality of disparate economies with different problems and varying economic potentials. In fact, one needs to entertain the possibility that centralization tendencies in the global financial system may be at the very root of the global financial malaise.

Now he says it was all the Tories fault selling the Gold at the bottom!!Accountants at Grant Thornton reckon that Culpability cost taxpayers 2 billion by selling 400 tonnes at the bottom of the market.”the timing of the decision was ludicrous,” said Peter Fava, then head of precious metals at HSBC. “We told them [the BoE] – you are going to push the price down before you sell it.” That’s just what happened, of course. Gold sank by almost one-tenth on the back of Gordon Brown’s decision to announce his sales ahead of time. – “I was surprised they had chosen the auction method,” adds Martin Stokes, a former vice-president at J.P.Morgan. “It indicated they did not have a real understanding of the gold market.
Clueless or not, however, it didn’t matter. The Bank of England had no say in the matter. It only got to advise the government on HOW to sell the gold. The fact of the sale itself had already been decided by the Treasury. And since then, says the Times, the government has since defied calls to release minutes and emails written at the time. The Times says it’s because the experts warned the government to hang onto its gold.

So, the conclusions of the G20 summit in full:

    - Spend money we don’t have

    - Borrow money we can’t afford to pay back with production we haven’t made

    - Keep interest rates low so we can’t save to pay off our debts. Keep them so low in fact that it encourages the same reckless level of borrowing and lending which contributed to the credit crunch and widespread defaults

    - give more of taxpayers money to large multinational corporations that have proven themselves to be incompetent

    - Print money out of thin air to debase the currency used to buy products we can’t afford

    - Ramp up house prices to make it harder to for 1st time buyers to get on the property ladder

    - Deliberately inflate the stock market encouraging malinvestment

    - Borrow from the rest of the world to finance our consumption of the rest of the world’s production, offering only our debt in compensation

    - give even more of our money to largely unaccountable globalist organisations like the IMF that are useless anyway, or corrupt, or both.

    - further regulate complex financial markets and products that politicians can barely spell let alone understand, and have never encountered before given their very little experience in dealing with them

    - attempt to shut down tax havens which politicians themselves use. Warn against protectionism yet deliberately hinder international capital flows

    - completely and utterly ignore the role of monetary policy and central banks in the formation of stock and property market booms and busts

    - and in a somewhat duplicitous maneuver, link recession tackling plans to the climate change agenda and thus use taxpayers money to further undermine the public’s economic liberty

is there anyone left in the nuthouse that can see that the uk is headed for financial armageddon?

with all the communication ‘packages’ they have one would think that someone in the govt, treasury or bank watches bloomberg now and again and sees what is happening outside of bedlam uk?

    Lord Peter says:

You know, now that Labour are going to the IMF for a second time, it’s not so bad. It all feels so familiar, and after all, it is Labour and not the Tories, so doesn’t count.

Next on the list for de-stigmatisation – claiming porn on expenses.

Why is it that Gordon Brown does precisely the opposite to what I want him to ?

Not just a little off course – but precisely the opposite, on every bloody thing.

Just said it again on Newsnight – the IMF should be seen as a resource for all countries to ‘draw on’ – it should have no stigma attached

The moron Esler did not press him

Mandelson on Newsnight now on about destigmatisation of IMF – not only there to help countries in distress but also there to help perfectly nice and respectable countries who found themselves too drunk on credit to say no to Gordon.

Also saying Gordon would be applauded by British public if “we lived in a fair world”

    Goldfinger says:

    Mandelson on Newsnight

“New IMF lines of credit that will benefit our economy”

There’s no stigma these days in going to the IMF. That’s soo 70’s. It’s now a “hospital” for governments

Mme Lagarde (sp?) French Finance Minister gave Steven Sackur as good as she got the other night. An excellent interview stuffed with facts and argument – and not one party political point in sight anywhere. Wish idiot Darling had as many balls as she has!

Odd that NuLab should want to ‘destigmatise’ the begging bowl. They’ve spent the last 12 years stigmatising almost everything else. Except buggery, of course. Buggery and beggary – that’s what they’re all about.

    NO STIGMA NO SHAME says:

Mandleson ” There is no longer stigma attached to going to the IMF. ”

Doesnt surprise me that this sleaze ridden currupt Government think this way after all

There is no stigma in going to war on a pack of lies

There is no stigma in defrauding your expenses

There is no stigma in obtaining a mortgage by Fraud

There is no stigma in buying porn on the tax payer

There is no stigma in being the home secretary and shagging another blokes wife

There is no stigma in eating your way through the public purse and claiming it was an illness

There is no stigma in the Bernie eccleson affair amongst many many other scandals

There is no Stigma in the Dr David Kelly affair

There is no stigma in stealing peoples pensions in a fashion that would embarrass Robert Maxwell

There is no Stigma in being a lying shower of hoons

Mandelson was on Newsnight this evening, responding to a question about Britain’s debt he said the IMF could provide more money.

i.e. his answer to Britain’s debt problem is to borrow money from the IMF.

I know it is popular to say he is a hoon; that doesn’t mean it’s not true.

Did Gordon forget about HMRC’s tax-evasive property leasing scheme?

HMRC, having sold their offices to Mapeley Steps, lease back the offices and Mapeley, whose base is in the tax haven of Bermuda, gets to trouser lots more profit since they don’t pay corporation tax.
