Thanks Guido,

What's the bet no response on the following?

FOR THE ATTENTION OF:

Helen Southworth MP
Warrington South

Tuesday 31 March 2009
Anthony Thompson
*address removed*

Dear Helen Southworth,

I am writing to you to try and find out what local issues you represented in Parliament over the last year, where you dissented from the government and constructively aided the local area and to get to the bottom of how you have represented the people, any more than a party based stooge who will advance the Labour Party's national agenda at the expense of their local constituents.

I am writing under the assumption that the expenses claims listed here : http://www.parliament.uk/documents/upload/HoCallowances0708.pdf are accurate for the 07-08 year.

I note that you have spent over £17,000 staying away from home, clearly this has been a pressing matter for some MPs over the previous few days and weeks but I note your voting record in parliament: 76% of votes have been attended according to your affiliation, that is a rather high amount, and we are not exactly close to Westminster It is also a reduction of £4000 from the year before, which must be commended against a perceived culture of greed in expenses claims set out in the mainstream media.

Your office running costs 06-07 were £20,871 and staffing costs £77,123. To an outsider looking at this situation, it seems a lot of money, that if the amount of votes attended were reduced to a reasonable level (i.e. vote on contentious issues, ones where your vote will count, attend when you have a point to make or a point to hear, matters of local importance etc.) your time would be freed up to cover your staff, also your expenses for staying away from home would fall. This could save a considerable amount of money and raise efficiency. Your costs have changed to £17,630 and £85,361 respectively. That is over a 10% rise in staffing costs.

Can you please let me know if your office is available longer, if your staff were doing an unsuitable job previously and how many more hours a week of labour this additional cash has provided for the local area. I am interested in how this investment has been to the benefit of myself, a tax payer in your constituency. Obviously with the staff you have I would expect a response to this letter.

I am very concerned that whist the people in the town are facing rising pressures, the town centre is in dilapidated condition, shops are closing down, houses are being boarded up, people are in a state of desperation and the effective level of taxation has risen you have done nothing to say to your party "enough is enough," you have been sitting on your hands and towing the party line, serving entirely the Labour party as your master and ignoring your constituents. There is little evidence that our tax money is going towards anything for the local community, the township or the people and is serving entirely a party that has led this country to ruin.

When you decided to become an MP, I would hope you thought "I will make the world a better place", and I would hope your priority would've been the people that elect you. Please provide some evidence that this is true. Obviously if you do not respond this letter will be published to show your disregard for the local community.

From your record on theyworkforyou.com I can find no support for a claim that you dissent from Labour, your questions raised in the House seem planted and the views you vote in favoor of are clearly opposed by your constituents.

Frankly, in summary, I feel ripped off. Please try to persuade me this is not the case.

Yours sincerely,

Anthony Thompson

Actually the last train to Egham is at 23:35. I don't know where Philip Hammond lives, though the phone number listed is localish to me . But I showed it was possible to get back home after the whole of the debate on the third runway
Maybe he commutes by helicopter? !I also like the way he skillfully got his expenses within £8 of the total allowed.
