The bankers are getting the blame, for one good reason, they are to blame.
Do you know how much commission Madoff paid for getting in his suckers?
If you went to a reputable University, evidently it was to little purpose.
Another question, how could it not be the fault of the bankers?

Oh dear. Greed, arrogance punctuated with feelings of inadequacy when no-one else gives you the respect you crave, jealousy at success of others, inability to take responsibility for own failures etc etc. See it in Labour voters all the time.
You went to a mid-ranking university, probably in the north – maybe Liverpool or Hull. I expect you read history or social sciences, maybe you got a 2.2 in the end. You probably applied for a job at JP Morgan or UBS but got rejected in the first round. Instead of getting over it and moving on, your bitterness at the rejection, mixed with an inability to accept any suggestion of personal fault, leads you to point your chubby finger of blame at those who have what you desire ($$$, though like all good socialists you would never admit it) – the bankers.
‘Why do those bankers get paid so much – I work just as hard as them’ chunters poor Grimes as he eyes the pinstripe suits and their blackberries on the circle line enviously. ‘It’s not fair.’
In reality you don’t have any serious grasp of what bankers do, although you think you do after reading several articles in the business section of the Guardian, and watching a special programme on BBC1. You know the crisis has something to do with financial “engineering” though you’re not quite sure how this all ties in with normal engineering – science and maths weren’t your strong point at school.
What keeps you warm at night is the knowledge that all your problems in life are the fault of the bankers – and the Conservatives of course.
