Wexford Split on Lisbon

The priest reckons turnout is going to be about 20% at our polling station. The farmers will probably shade towards the Yes since the IFA claims to have secured a veto (they haven’t really, who knows what backroom deal has been done).

The fishermen are resolutely opposed, for the same reasons British fishermen oppose the EU. They have blockaded Cork and Waterford harbours recently. There was some talk of doing so locally, but they couldn’t really be arsed.

Two No votes were cast in our household. If the European superstate crumbles as a result, Granny Fawkes will have started it…
