Blairite Faction Meeting Tonight

No need to panic Blairites! As well as Blair addressing the parliamentary Labour party meeting tonight, Tessa Jowell is scheduled to speak at a meeting* entitled ‘All politics is local: The political landscape after May’s elections’ tonight. She will be joined by Oona King. They will be briefed by Roger Mortimore from Mori who will give them an analytical post-mortem. Guido can save them the bother – you lost, no one likes you, they’d rather vote for fascists than Blairites according to Margaret Hodge.

The meeting is organised by Progress, the Blairite factional fighting praetorian guard, financed by Lord Sainsbury. It is doing battle with Compass, the Brownite condoned faction fighting group organised by Gordon Brown’s former employee, Neal Lawson. Progress has a loyalists conference coming up on the 20th May to be addressed by Hazel Blears. Compass has a disloyalists conference coming up on the 17th June. Watch to see which ministers attend which conference to see where people stand.

*Committee Room 8 in the House of Commons between 7 and 8.15pm. Shhhussh, it is private.
